22 week of pregnancy - sensations
Even the thinnest and most graceful once ladies no longer feel like that. The enlarged tummy no longer allows you to calmly bend over and the usual lace-tying for the expectant mother no longer seems such a simple task. The crumb in the tummy begins to become more active, and now some mothers can even say which part of the body the baby pushed with. Ideally, a woman should feel at least ten shocks throughout the day. If there are fewer of them, you must definitely tell your doctor about it. Perhaps this simply speaks of the calmness of the baby, but the safety net is never superfluous.
Sleeping in the usual way is already uncomfortable. Sleep on the stomach has been banned for a long time, but lying on the back is not very pleasant either, since the sides begin to swell quickly. A special pillow for pregnant women or a small roller that needs to be placed under the back while lying down can solve such problems.
During pregnancy, edema often appears, which is more often localized in the arms and legs. This can create problems when choosing shoes, since the old one becomes small, the rings are difficult to remove from the toes. For the most part, except for inconvenience, such a state does not carry anything in itself. However, if the swelling causes severe discomfort, it does not go away for more than a day, you must definitely tell your observing doctor about this in order to prevent possible complications. In addition, blood pressure and urine protein levels should be closely monitored.
22 weeks pregnant - what happens to the baby
This week, the baby's brain slows down somewhat, but tactile sensations begin to actively interest the baby. He is now very curious and enjoys studying himself and everything that surrounds him. One of his favorite activities is thumb sucking and playing with whatever is at hand, such as the umbilical cord. In the light, if you put your hand on the stomach, the baby can notice it and come closer to it, in order to understand what it is, the most active crumbs even hit it.
Now the baby still has enough space in the stomach and he actively spends his time, constantly changing his position and sending his mother many jerks of greetings. During the day, the baby can turn his head up and down several times, but for most of the day he still sleeps, and this is about 22 hours. Often, his "playfulness" occurs at night, which can interfere with the sleep of the expectant mother. However, this is quite understandable: in the daytime, when a woman moves, she thereby rocking the baby and he sleeps, and at night, when the mother's activity falls, the baby wakes up.
The baby's hearing is already well developed, with sharp and loud sounds, he shudders, he can memorize several voices, especially mom and dad, so talk to him more often and sing lullabies to him. The baby is already reacting to light. So, for example, if you turn on the flashlight at night and point it at your stomach, it will turn towards it.
Now the baby can distinguish amniotic fluid by taste. And their taste depends on what mommy eats, so it is important to monitor what you eat so that the baby only eats healthy and tasty “dishes”. By this time, the formation of the spinal column ends, the nerve cells continue to establish connections between each other, and the neurons of the brain are already completely ready.
The growth of the baby already reaches 29 cm, and the weight is about 350 g. Even now, if premature birth suddenly occurs, there are chances, albeit the smallest, that the baby can be artificially carried out.

Now the female body is changing slightly, since all its forces are directed exclusively to the crumb. During this period, the expectant mother is thrown to extremes, sharp bouts of gluttony may occur, and dizziness is not excluded. Meanwhile, the baby sits comfortably in the mother's womb and continues to grow and develop.
The amount of blood in the mother's body continues to increase, while the elements of the chemical composition grow disproportionately. At this time of the perinatal period, women are often diagnosed with anemia, which is associated with a lack of erythrocytes in the blood. It is very important to prevent such a diagnosis by establishing proper nutrition and consuming a large amount of iron-containing foods, including meat. Additionally, the doctor may prescribe vitamin complexes for pregnant women.
The uterus at this stage continues to grow with the baby. It rises higher and higher, thereby putting pressure on nearby organs. This can provoke problems in the work of the gastrointestinal tract and cause third-party abdominal discomfort.
Light-colored discharge with a sour smell and in minimal volumes are considered normal. As soon as the discharge becomes cheesy and changes its color, be sure to inform the gynecologist about this and undergo appropriate treatment. If a discharge with blood appears, call an ambulance urgently, as this may be a sign of premature birth or placental detachment. However, the latter does not always happen to the blood, it all depends on its location. You can find out about the alarm by having severe abdominal pain. Slowness in this case can turn into the death of the crumbs.
