How to make a pallet bed

How to make a pallet bed with your own hands

Such a bed will cost significantly less than buying a new one in a store. In addition, such furniture looks stylish, durable enough and allows you to show imagination, creating comfortable furniture, taking into account the characteristics of the home.

Pallets can be made as a single or double bed. The principle of creation is quite simple: several identical pallets are connected to each other. The design should resemble a podium, where in the future you will need to put a mattress. Such a bed can be with a headboard, short or long legs, bumpers, etc., that is, what the master has enough imagination for.

So, to make a bed you need:

1. Purchase several identical pallets, clean them from dust and dirt. It is desirable that the pallets are new or at least in good condition, otherwise the bed will look ugly.
2. After completely dry, the pallets should be sanded using sandpaper or a special machine. To remove all dust, it is necessary to wipe the pallets several more times with a wet rag.
3. Covering the structure with a primer – an important stage, since if the material is improperly processed, the paint will lie unevenly.
4. After the primer is completely dry, you can start painting the pallets. Moreover, the brighter the color you need to get at the end, the more layers of paint you need to apply (from 1 to 3).
5. Once the paint is dry, the bed can be reassembled. Pallets should be joined on the long side. You can use either nails, or you can first make holes, and then fix the structure with self-tapping screws.
6. It remains only to put mattress... For better fixation, you can attach it to the bed with rubber bands.

To make a tall bed, pallets can be stacked in several layers. To add originality, a lamp should be placed under the structure, which will illuminate the room, creating a romantic atmosphere.
