Where do bedbugs come from in the apartment
In order for bedbugs to feel at ease in the room, they need food. Food for them is the blood of warm-blooded creatures, in other words, they feed on the blood of people and pets... Indoors, these small dirty tricksters hide in secluded dark corners, for example, under the baseboard, in furniture, behind heating radiators, in the folds of clothes and the like. These places provide reliable protection from the sun's rays and provide shelter during harvesting.
There can be several ways for pests to enter an apartment:
- When buying bedding sets in questionable places.
- Purchase of equipment or new furniture.
- They can be brought by guests whose houses are infested with bedbugs.
- Stay in a hotel infested with bedbugs. Then the insects climb into the luggage and move to a new house with their belongings.
- In country houses, bugs can get on wool animals from the street where they live in the ground or under the bark of trees.
- In apartment buildings, bugs creep from basements through ventilation or cracks in the walls and floors, as well as from infected apartments of neighbors.
What to do if bedbugs are in the apartment
It is not difficult to find out about the appearance of new tenants in the apartment. An infected room will smell of burnt walnuts or sour raspberries. In the morning, on the bodies of the tenants of the apartment, traces of bedbug bites, usually located on the back, buttocks, thighs or on the sides, will be noticeable. The damaged areas of the skin begin to itch unbearably, and in people with a tendency to allergic reactions, a rash appears all over the body.
If you suspect the presence of bedbugs, they must be etched out. Otherwise, they will multiply more and more and soon it will become impossible to live in an infected dwelling. You can exterminate dangerous insects using folk methods or resort to the help of professionals.
How to remove bedbugs from an apartment
Before proceeding with the cleaning of the apartment from parasites, it is necessary to take measures to ensure the safety of people and pets.
- It is better to move all tenants to another place for a few days.
- The treatment of the room must be carried out in a protective suit, a respirator and gloves, while windows and doors must be open.
- After finishing the treatment of the room, you need to take a shower, wash the clothes well or throw them away.
The processing of the premises is carried out in the following order:
- First, all food and small items are taken out of the apartment. Before that, everything needs to be examined for the presence of adult bugs and their eggs.
- All textiles should be washed at high temperatures.
- If textiles or leather products cannot be washed, then they must be treated with hot steam, taken out to a hot place, or, conversely, left in the cold below 25 degrees for several hours.
- All furniture must be moved aside, carpets and paintings must be removed, books must be reviewed, and the baseboards must be unfastened. This is how insect nests can be found.
- Treat all surfaces with chemicals, paying special attention to places where bugs can live.
- After processing, all doors and windows must be closed and wait a while for the insects to die.
- Then the room is ventilated and all surfaces are washed with a soda solution.
- After a week, the process must be repeated so that re-infection does not occur.
An effective remedy for bedbugs in the apartment
Modern chemical production does not stand still. New drugs are constantly being produced that can provide reliable protection of the home from pests. Special aerosols are most often used against bedbugs. With the help of a spray, it is convenient to treat large areas, but at the same time, when spraying, a lot of the substance simply evaporates and the concentration of the poison may be insufficient. The most common sprays are Raptor, Dohlox or Dichlorvos.
Another form of popular bug baiting agents is emulsions. They are sold in bottles. The contents must be diluted with water and spread over the surface with a solution. An example of such concentrates is Executioner, Geth or Forsyth.
You can simply sprinkle the powder in places where bedbugs accumulate, or you can dilute the powder form with water and treat all surfaces in the apartment with it.
If there are few bedbugs in the dwelling or there is a need to prevent bedbugs from infesting the apartment from neighbors, then you can use folk remedies. Bedbugs are afraid of the smell of wormwood, valerian, or vinegar. You need to spray the room with these substances or just spread the grass around the apartment. Soon, insects will begin to crawl out of their hiding places, and they can be collected with a vacuum cleaner. Tea tree or cedar oil works in a similar way.
Hard-to-reach places must be treated with hot steam from a special device. This treatment is suitable for the destruction of bedbugs in the crevices of cabinets or in upholstered furniture.
The most effective way to kill bedbugs is to call a special service at home. Of course, it costs considerable material and time costs, but it gives a guaranteed result. Bedbugs will not bother you after such treatment.
