Safe refrigerator cleaning
Today no kitchen can do without a refrigerator; this household appliance is one of the main assistants. Proper care will extend the life of the cooling unit for many years. Microbiologists have discovered an interesting fact: the dirtiest place in an apartment is the refrigerator. Violation of storage rules and uncleanliness of the housewife can contribute to the proliferation of a number of harmful bacteria and the appearance of an unpleasant odor. Other compassionate women, on the contrary, are too clean, which is also not always good for a household appliance. It turns out that the question: what and how to clean the refrigerator remains pressing today.
How to clean the outside of a refrigerator
First, you should turn off the power to the household appliance; safety comes first! Cleaning the outside of your refrigerator is not as difficult as it seems. It’s simple, because there are no such old, stubborn stains as inside, and there’s no smell either. You can try to scrub the walls and door with a regular solution of warm water and detergent. Afterwards, wipe the surfaces with a clean damp cloth and then dry with a towel or napkin. If it doesn’t work the first time, go through the walls again with the detergent and leave for a while.
It is more difficult to get rid of traces of stickers, however, there are also methods:
- Paper stickers can be removed with hot water and a sponge. But before you do this, you need to wet them and give the water time to absorb.
- Polymer stickers must first be peeled off the surface; this must be done carefully diagonally. The remaining adhesive base can be removed with acetone or nail polish remover.
- There is another miracle method using a regular hair dryer. Heat the sticker with hot air and remove it with a kitchen sponge (from the back of the rough side).
How to clean the inside of a refrigerator
Not a single refrigerator manufacturer prohibits the use of soda, especially since it is harmless and cheap. So why invent something? You can only add table vinegar to it, it also disinfects the surface. To prepare the solution you will need 1 liter of water and 2 tbsp. l. vinegar and soda.
Of course, you might think that dishwashing liquid would be suitable here too, but it’s still chemicals and you won’t be able to rinse the inside of the refrigerator, just like you won’t be able to rinse dishes under running water. In addition, fragrances used for scent will also end up on food. However, one can argue here: there are also safe liquids, for example, organic ones.
Washing powder is completely unsuitable, it is difficult to completely wash off and is very harmful. Bleach and acetone are prohibited; such substances can damage rubber and polymer parts. Any abrasive substances, such as bleach, are prohibited; they scratch the surface, which leads to loss of shine by the surface. 
There is a special paste for cleaning the refrigerator, it works as follows:
- Apply it on the surface.
- Wait a few minutes and rub again.
- Rinse with a damp cloth, then dry with a cloth.
It is advisable to get rid of perishable foods before washing, since it is better to do all the work in the evening, so that you can then leave the refrigerator open all night.
Well, the refrigerator seems to be clean, but smell stayed. To get rid of it, the following recipes will help:
- Lemon. Cut it in half and wipe all parts of the refrigerator. After a few hours, wash off the residue with a damp cloth.
- Hydrogen peroxide. After standard washing, wipe the inside with a sponge soaked in peroxide.
- Vinegar. Take 200 ml of water, add the same amount of table vinegar to it, and wipe the camera.
Oven cleaning liquid may be suitable for washing. It will not only easily deal with stains, but also get rid of odors. It is necessary to spray the internal surfaces with the solution, after 15 minutes, rinse everything off with a cloth soaked in water and wipe dry.
