How to whiten your nails
There is probably no woman who would not like to have beautiful, healthy nails. The secret of such nails is simple - permanent care behind them and maintaining health. But there are times when nails acquire an unsightly yellowish tint. How to deal with this and return your nails to a healthy color?
Why do nails turn yellow?
There can be many reasons for the yellowness of the nail plate. They may be associated with poor human health or explained by external factors:
- The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to yellow nails is smoking. In this case, yellowness can spread not only to the nails, but also to the fingertips. In this case, getting rid of yellowness will not be easy.
- The drinks that many people love – coffee and tea – can also turn your nails yellowish. They contain pigments that gradually accumulate in tissues. In such a case, you just need to limit the consumption of these drinks and the yellowness will gradually disappear.
- Incorrect execution manicure. For example, refusing to use a nail polish base, using a nail polish that is too bright in color, or using acetone-based nail polish remover.
- Your nails may be infected with fungus. In this case, the color change occurs gradually. In addition, other symptoms are added. Here, to remove yellowness, serious treatment is needed.
- Lack of vitamins. In this case, most likely, the body suffers from a deficiency of vitamin A, and may lack vitamin E or D. A lack of calcium may also be suspected. To solve the problem, you need to review your diet, add more dairy products and eat more fruits and vegetables.
- Exposure to household chemicals. All modern cleaning products are quite aggressive on the skin and nails. Therefore, when doing homework, it is better to protect your hands with special gloves.
- Diseases of internal organs. Yellowing of nails can be a sign of serious illness. First of all, you should suspect liver or kidney disease. Yellowing may also be due to heart disease, lung disease, or endocrine disorders.
How to whiten your nails
To make yellowed nails white, you can use different methods. These include the achievements of the modern cosmetology industry, folk methods and recipes. For example, you can instantly whiten the tip of your nail using a special pencil. These pencils are made from white clay and are intended for french manicure. Simply moisten the lead of such a pencil with water and run it along the tip of the nail from the inside.
A special nail plate whitening varnish gives a more lasting effect. This is a special varnish coating that heals nails. Before applying it, you need to do a hygienic manicure, and then cover your nails with this varnish in two layers. The next day you need to apply another layer of varnish. The coating must be renewed within 10 days.
Lemon juice effectively removes yellowness. You just need to wipe your nail plates with fresh juice several times a day. Citric acid works in a similar way. You can dilute it with water and give your nails a whitening bath.
A paste made from hydrogen peroxide and soda effectively whitens nails. It must be applied to the nails and wait 30 minutes. After this, you should clean your nails with a soft brush and rinse off the paste with water.
Baths with chamomile decoction also help well. Nails should be kept in this bath for about a quarter of an hour.
