Faux fur can come in very different qualities, but remember: faux fur is also fur, and it must be cared for correctly and appropriately.

Faux fur is found quite often even in the collections of world designers. They use artificial fur so as not to exterminate animals listed in the Red Book. The result of this choice is the fashion for faux fur in clothing. If you purchased a product made of faux fur, you will have to take care of it regularly. And only in this case the product will always look neat and high quality.

Faux fur is washable. You can wash it either by hand or in a washing machine, but the water temperature should not exceed 45 degrees. You don’t know how the fur will behave after washing, so it’s better to set a lower temperature (for example, 30 degrees). To avoid deformation, many people prefer hand washing, during which they can use a medium-hard brush.

If the product has elements of suede or leather, then it should not be soaked. Leather, if artificial, can become stained, and suede can crack.

The product must be stored on a hanger, in an upright position, in a spacious closet. It is also necessary to have moth repellents, because for moths, faux fur is also fur.

Mink fur is considered a wear-resistant material. A high-quality mink fur product will last you up to 10 years. Fur coats often come with a fairly long warranty, but you need to learn how to properly care for mink fur immediately after purchasing a fur coat or other product, otherwise the item will begin to deteriorate.

Mink fur is a very practical material. It is not capricious and durable.

The main thing to remember is: if a mink fur coat or vest gets wet, you need to shake it so that the fur returns to its natural position and hang it on a hanger to dry. It is important to remember that the product should not be exposed to sunlight, and heating objects should be located at a great distance from the product. Mink items should not be dried in a closet or in the bathroom. Since when drying, mink fur should be in its natural position, and the air temperature should ideally be from 0 to 18 degrees.

Rabbit, unlike mink, is a cheap and short-lived material. Rabbit fur coats cost several times less, but they only last for a few seasons. Rabbit fur is prone to becoming dull and brittle. In addition, after a couple of seasons, the fur begins to become bald and thin.

It is better not to wear rabbit fur in very wet and windy weather. But if your rabbit fur product still gets wet, then you need to hang it on a hanger and smooth it with your hand.

Rabbit fur is susceptible to staining, so it is best to store it separately from other items. Ideally, a fur coat should be stored in a special case. This rule must be observed when storing products made from any fur, even artificial fur.

The peculiarity of products made from rabbit is that the skin quickly tears at the folds and seams. Therefore, it is better to carry the bag in your hands, and not on your elbow or shoulder.

How to care for arctic fox fur

Arctic fox fur is an expensive and durable material, but it has a number of features. Fur products made from Arctic foxes are prone to matting of the hair. Lumps of hair form among the pile, which are difficult to remove and spoil the overall appearance. This is especially pronounced in products made from long-pile fur. If this happens to your product, then you need to comb it carefully. If the fur is long, then the comb or brush should be guided in the direction of the natural growth of the pile, and if the fur is short, then vice versa.

It is also important that arctic fox fur reacts very strongly to temperature. Therefore, it should not be ironed under any circumstances, otherwise the skin will become hard and “wooden”, and this is already considered an irreparable defect.

Fox fur requires compliance with some rules. For example, if your product gets wet, it is better to shake off the water with a soft cloth soaked in alcohol (but do not use cologne).

If you use perfume, you need to avoid getting it on the collar of your fur coat, otherwise the liquid may leave marks on the light fox fur.

Fox fur, like any other fur, should never be dried with a hairdryer. This makes any fur brittle.

Fur coats should always be stored on a hanger, and you need to choose a hanger that fits the size of the shoulders of the product. This will help avoid deformation. It is best to wear a blue cover for a fox coat made of light fur; this is necessary in order to avoid a yellow coating on the product after long-term storage.

Silver fox fur is a very warm and noble material.

If your product accidentally gets dirty, you must wait for it to dry completely. After this, grease or grease stains can be cleaned with a soft cloth or cotton pad soaked in alcohol or vodka. Fur should be cleaned in the direction of the natural growth of the pile.

Gasoline-based products are also used to clean silver fox fur. After such cleaning, the product must be thoroughly dried and ventilated.

After any procedures for caring for the product, it is not recommended to comb it. The fur coat or vest should be restored under natural conditions: vertical position, room temperature, absence of high humidity.

How to care for llama fur

Llama fur is similar to sheepskin, but of higher quality. Despite the fact that llama fur is an exotic material, it has a number of very useful properties.

Llama fur is very resistant to temperature changes. In addition, it is not afraid of rain and moisture. The fur even reacts positively to water and wet snow: the long pile curls into neat spirals.

Llama fur does not require special care. Products made from this fur do not have to be dry cleaned at the first stain. It is also very easy to store.

Thanks to these qualities, llama fur products can last you from 7 to 10 years with intensive wear. Therefore, when choosing a product, expect that you will wear it for a long time. A llama fur coat is bought once and for a long time.

To care for a llama fur coat, it is best to purchase a medium-hard brush and comb out all the dirt and dust from the fur, making sure to wait until it is completely dry. You can clean it with either water or soapy cleaning products.

How to care for Tuscan fur

Tuscan fur is very soft and pleasant to the touch. Sheepskin coats made from Tuscan fur are considered the warmest, despite the fact that the material itself is very light.

A product made of Tuscan fur should be stored carefully straightened and, of course, on hangers of suitable size.

Tuscan fur, like any other fur, should not be combed unnecessarily. Also, if you use foundation, be sure to wear scarves. The foundation is absorbed very well into the collar, and it is difficult to clean it even with professional cleaning.

If the product is dusty or dirty, it is best to clean it with a special brush for fur products. This method of cleaning will restore the product's shine and beautiful appearance.

But it’s better not to try to clean heavy stains yourself. It is best to take Tuscan fur for general cleaning to a laundry or dry cleaner.

How to care for chinchilla fur

Chinchilla fur is the most expensive material on the fur market. This is a very warm and expensive fur that definitely needs to be looked after. You need to choose a chinchilla product very carefully, since high-quality rabbit fur is often passed off as chinchilla, but their properties are very different.

Chinchilla fur is prone to getting wet and greasy quickly. And given that chinchilla fur is very dense, it is sometimes very difficult to dry or clean the product.

It is better to dry a fur coat or vest in a separate room, where the fur cannot be affected by any heater or heating device. It is better to hang the product on a wooden hanger, and the room should be well ventilated. Be especially careful about drying your fur coat at home while cooking. Wet fur can absorb any odors, so the product should not be dried in the kitchen or bathroom.

When the pile dries a little, you can carefully comb it with a metal brush with thinned bristles. Do not put pressure on the product under any circumstances; movements should be gentle, in the direction of the natural growth of the pile.

In natural conditions, chinchillas clean their fur in volcanic ash. By analogy, chinchilla fur products are cleaned with sand. Even with minor dirt, sand can be poured onto the product and allowed to absorb dirt and excess moisture for some time. Since the fur is dense, it is better to give it more time. After this, clean it with a soft brush. The fur will be cleaned and regain its original shine and luster.

How to care for raccoon fur

Raccoon fur is a unique material. It can last you 15 years with intensive annual wear.

Raccoon fur is very fluffy, making products made from it voluminous.

A useful property of this material is that it does not absorb foreign odors as much as, for example, arctic fox fur.   But you still need to monitor the product.

If you haven’t worn your raccoon coat for a long time or haven’t worn it at all for a whole season, then be sure to take it out to air it out.

In winter, between wears, the product should be hung on wide hangers. Since raccoon fur is quite thin, it can easily take the shape of a coat hanger, and will not fit you as well as before, although you may not even notice any visible changes at first.

In winter, a product made from raccoon fur must be stored in a special case in a cool place. If it is a hat or a fur collar, then it can be wrapped in white, clean, soft paper, but the fur coat is best stored in a rag “breathable” cover.

It is worth knowing that artificial raccoon fur is also produced today; it is absolutely identical to the natural fur of this animal in softness, silkiness and wear resistance. In any case, no matter what fur, natural or artificial, you choose, be sure to check the product for quality. When you run your hand against the growth of the pile, the fur should quickly return to its original position, and there should be no visible bald spots or gaps between the piles. Raccoon fur is very dense and thick, despite the fact that it is quite light and soft.

If raccoon products are heavily soiled, it is still better to take them to a professional dry cleaner, and you can choose a drum dry cleaner, where the products are washed with sawdust soaked in a special solution. Such cleaning is very gentle on fur products, but at the same time effective.
