Causes of warts in children
A wart is a viral disease, in other words, the human papillomavirus. A common neoplasm does not require surgical intervention and does not pose any danger. Aesthetic appearance is another matter. Mostly, warts are formed on the hands, fingers, feet and face.
The spread of neoplasms can be slow, but if the disease progresses at a tremendous pace, then you should consult a doctor.
Reasons for the appearance papillomas:
- Infection through a virus carrier. For example, if someone else's child is already infected with the papilloma virus. The warts may not appear yet, but the virus is well transmitted.
- Swimming pool activities. A favorable environment for warts is high humidity and dampness. No matter how well the pool is cleaned, the threat of infection still exists.
- Common toys. A fairly common phenomenon for a kindergarten or developmental centers. The papilloma virus lives on a toy for a long time and therefore easily passes to humans.
- Small wounds and abrasions. Through the damaged skin, the virus instantly enters the body and begins its development. Therefore, the treatment of wounds and abrasions at least with hydrogen peroxide is mandatory.
- Sweating of the hands or feet. As in swimming pools, a good atmosphere is created for warts to breed.
- Poor immunity. The body of a healthy person is able to fight any viruses. If there are immunity disorders, then papilloma cannot be avoided.
- Failure to comply with hygiene rules. Hands should be washed thoroughly after walking or contact with an infected person. Do not dry yourself with someone else's towels. Simple hygiene rules will get rid of the appearance of warts.
If you notice warts in your child, then don't panic. This disease is treated with folk and medical remedies.
Treatment of warts in children
Before the appointment, the dermatologist is obliged to conduct a series of studies that will determine the type of papilloma and the hazard class.
If the patient is not worried about anything and the disease does not create discomfort, then treatment is not prescribed. Since the average duration of a wart is 18 months. Then it disappears on its own and leaves no trace.
Treatment is prescribed only in the following cases:
- soreness of the neoplasm;
- proliferation of papillomas;
- discomfort and bleeding;
- change in color and shape.
There are three types of wart removal:
- drugs for external and internal action;
- laser therapy;
- removal with liquid nitrogen or cryotherapy.
Medicines are prescribed for children over 5 years old, since many components are simply dangerous for a small organism. Mostly, topical patches and salicil-based ointments are used.
At an older age, it is allowed to use laser therapy or liquid nitrogen removal. In the first case, local anesthesia is used and the neoplasm is burned out. The procedure is not pleasant in appearance and smell, as the skin begins to melt and burn.
Liquid nitrogen is the preferred method because a low temperature has an effect on the papilloma and falls off.
Prevention of warts
The main preventive measure is the hygiene of the child and family.
How to prevent papilloma:
- do not walk barefoot in public places (gym, swimming pool, etc.);
- thorough hand washing;
- avoid sweating hands and feet;
- after walking, the shoes must be well dried;
- if there was contact with an infected person, then treat your hands with an antiseptic gel or wash them well;
- in case of weakened immunity, drink a vitamin complex during the cold season;
- have your own towel.
If you follow all safety measures, then you can save a child from the appearance of papillomas by 90%.
To treat the virus, you need to see a dermatologist. Only he will be able to determine the type of virus and prescribe the correct treatment, if required.
Self-medication in this situation should not be dealt with, tk. it is easy to harm a small organism and the consequences can be sad.
Of course, it is impossible to protect a child 100% from this disease, but it can be prevented.
