How to do eyelash lamination
How does the eyelash lamination procedure work?
- We install a silicone liner between the upper and lower eyelids (bottom), which will prevent the eyelashes from sticking together. On eyelashes You definitely need to apply a degreasing agent, otherwise the composition simply won’t “take.” Lubricate the eyelid with a high-quality moisturizer.
- Next we need a special silicone device - a “curler”. “Curlers” come in three different sizes - large, medium and small, we select them depending on the length of the eyelashes. The silicone roller is attached to the base of the hairs (upper eyelid) using a fixing gel.
- Using the same growth gel, we fix the eyelashes on “curlers”; we do this gradually, since the product sets quickly.
- The next step is to apply the first composition to the base of the hair growth. It is necessary for the hair scales to open properly, and the product also gives a curling effect. Make sure that the composition does not get into your eyes. Place plastic wrap and cotton pads soaked in warm water on top.
- After ten minutes, carefully remove the first composition with cotton swabs and begin to mix the paint in advance, it needs to sit for about 10 minutes. To do this, add a pea-sized amount of paint and the same amount of oxidizing agent to a small container, mix everything.
- Then we apply the second composition to the eyelashes - keratin, due to this the hairs become denser.
- After 7 minutes, paint the top and bottom hairs, leave the paint to soak in for 10 minutes.
- We remove the paint with a cotton swab and apply a third composition consisting of nourishing oils, with the help of which the eyelashes are easily separated from the roller.
- Remove the “curlers” and the bottom backing and remove the excess gel.
Remember that for about a day after lamination of eyelashes, they cannot be wetted with water so that the compositions are completely absorbed. At first, the effect may upset you - your eyelashes will look stuck together and stiff, but the very next day they will fluff up.
How long does eyelash lamination last?
You should not compare the eyelash lamination procedure with a chemical or bioperm; the effect is different from the usual eyelash extensions. In this case, the master works with what nature gave you, so take into account your own length and thickness of hairs.
What does advertising for the cosmetic and therapeutic lamination procedure promise us:
- Volume. Of course, with the help of the compositions in 40 minutes your eyelashes will not become much thicker, but the hairs will still become a little thicker, even light and thin ones.
- Bend. For many women, they are quite thick and long, but straight. What you can really achieve with keratin is a beautiful curve.
- Color. The problem of light skin tones is especially pressing. eyelashes for natural blondes. The dye is absorbed into the hairs and they become brighter, denser and shiny.
How long does the effect of lamination last?
Most experts say the effect will last about 2 months. In fact, the composition may not be washed off for a month or three. This depends on several factors: the quality of the composition, the condition of the client’s eyelashes, the frequency of their loss, and the professionalism of the artist.
Eyelash lamination pros and cons
Typically, women who decide to undergo keratin lamination for the first time pursue one of several goals. This is what manufacturers of medicinal compounds and specialists in beauty salons promise us:
- Thin, weak hairs become brighter and more attractive. Without resorting to extensions, owners of light eyelashes acquire a more expressive and attractive frame of the eyes. In addition to thickness, volume appears, just like after applying mascara or curling.
- Recovery is underway eyelashes after applying decorative cosmetics.
- For some time there is no need to use other products, the eyelashes “rest”, the hair follicles become stronger during this time, and hair growth increases.
- Lamination provides protection from exposure to the sun, water and cold thanks to a film that remains on the hairs for up to three months.
- There is a so-called cumulative effect, with each procedure the eyelashes become thicker and stronger.
As with any procedure involving the use of chemicals, there are some contraindications, there are few of them, but you should not neglect safety precautions if you do not want health problems.
- Ophthalmologists warn that women who suffer from allergies or have highly sensitive eyes should not take the risk.
- The same applies to women who have recently undergone eye surgery.
- Pregnant women should forget about lamination for a while.
- Beautiful eyelashes are not cheap; the price of the procedure is much higher than standard eyelash extensions.

Eyelash lamination at home
Lamination products eyelashes can be purchased as a set or each composition separately, they must be proven, from a professional series. You can repeat the procedure once every 3-4 months, and the effect will last longer if you do not use alcohol-based lotion, eye shadow and mascara.
Experts do not recommend performing keratin lamination on your own; if the “chemical” gets into your eyes, burning and allergic reactions may occur.
Some people use a simple and cheap way to laminate at home - a gelatin solution. Of course, the result will not be the same as after using branded brands, but for a short time the eyelashes will indeed become a little longer.
To do this, pour 15 grams of gelatin into a small container of water (about 50 ml) and place on the stove until thickened. After this, add a little hair balm. We degrease the eyelashes, lubricate the skin of the eyelids with a nourishing cream and apply the solution for half an hour.
Consequences of eyelash lamination
Despite the fact that the number of positive reviews outweighs the negative ones about keratin, unpleasant situations also happen. They are usually associated with low qualifications of the craftsman or the use of low-quality, expired materials. If there is redness, itching, swelling, or any discomfort, do not hesitate, consult a doctor immediately.
It is not recommended to use keratin on very short hairs; it will be difficult to lengthen and curl them.
Do not combine lamination and extensions, because the oils contained in the compositions neutralize the effects of the glue.
Don't be alarmed if after a couple of months your eyelashes begin to fall out and lose their attractive appearance. This is a natural hair renewal process. Also, many girls are alarmed that in the first days they are sticky, hard, with paint residue at the roots. Usually this deficiency disappears after 24 hours. Eyelashes acquire the desired shape and curve.

Which is better: lamination or eyelash extensions?
If you have a question about what is better, keratin lamination or eyelash extensions, refer to the technique itself of these two methods, they are strikingly different:
- When building up Artificial or natural hairs are added to your “natural” eyelashes, the effect is immediately visible, but often they look unnatural.
- During the lamination process, eyelashes are impregnated with special strengthening compounds and oils, thanks to which the hairs become longer and acquire the desired bend.

Both techniques have their advantages and disadvantages. With extensions, there is no need to tint your eyelashes; they always look long, lush and bright. However, over time, due to the use of lotions and creams, hairs may fall out. Usually the master in a beauty salon assures that your own eyelashes will suffer little, but in fact, after removing the bundles, the hairs are in a deplorable state and require restoration.
Keratin lamination can also change the quality of eyelashes for the worse if the technology of the procedure is violated. That is why it is recommended to choose a professional specialist who will qualitatively treat your eyelashes.

Various bio-procedures are becoming increasingly popular. Those ladies who do not have gorgeous voluminous eyelashes strive to correct their natural characteristics in any way. There are a lot of opinions about eyelash lamination on the Internet, the majority note the result “on the face”, but almost all of them come with a caveat - the effect differs from that stated in the advertisement. Of course, it all depends on individual characteristics, but most often keratin lasts on hairs for no more than a month, and not at all the stated 8 weeks.
What else do dissatisfied clients agree on:
- Over time, the hairs grow back, the eyelashes acquire different curves and look untidy.
- The price for such a short-term procedure is too high.
- The result is not worth it; it’s easier to paint your eyelashes with regular mascara, rather than waste time untangling and combing your hairs.
- The effect will not be visible on short eyelashes.
- Applying mascara to laminated eyelashes is quite difficult.
- Eyelashes begin to fall out and break off.
