Home Beauty Body oils

A velvety and beautiful body is the dream of every woman, but it can only be achieved through constant self-care.  Tap water, which everyone deals with daily, is one of the main causes of dry and flaky skin. Of course, you can’t cancel a shower and a bath, and you can’t swim in spring water, so there’s only one way out - to additionally moisturize the body. One of the powerful tools in this matter is oils.

Healthy body oils

Oils are the most useful raw materials contained. They always have a high concentration, especially in essential oils, so you need to use them in personal care very carefully. Before using any new ingredient, be sure to do an allergy test. If within several hours there is no reaction from the body in the form of itching, redness or other troubles, then everything is normal and you can use the element on a larger area of the body.

All the oils that we will talk about have a positive effect on the condition of the skin, it’s just that each of them works stronger in its own area. What does this mean, oils that are included in the anti-cellulite group can be used in general mode, even if there is no orange peel, this will not only not harm, but will also act as a preventive measure. The main thing is that there is no allergy to them.

Speaking about essential oils, it is worth remembering once again that they must be diluted in the base oil, otherwise you are likely to get a burn. If there is damage to the skin, it is better to refuse procedures with essential oils for a while or avoid such areas at the time of application.

Body oils can be used in a variety of ways. They are used in their pure form (basic oils), applied to the entire body as a replacement for body lotion or cream, or as a composition for body wraps, an ingredient for aromatic baths, etc. We will talk about this in more detail in the following sections.

Anti-cellulite body oils

Cellulite is one of the most common problems of modern girls. Options for fighting There is a lot for smooth and even skin, from proper nutrition, diets to expensive salon procedures and even operations. You can fight cellulite with more pleasant methods, such as oils. The most effective in this case:

  • Geranium and grapefruit. These oils help accelerate the flow of lymph and the release of excess fluid. As soon as excess water leaves the cells, their nutrition begins to improve and blood circulation is restored. Geranium oil also gives the skin elasticity.
  • Lemon oil helps burn subcutaneous fat and improve blood circulation. It is useful to make wraps with it. Regular use can restore the skin to its former elasticity and smoothness.

But these are not all the oils that help get rid of the hated cellulite. Among the leaders are also oils of nutmeg, bergamot, sweet orange, cinnamon, ginger, lavender, cypress, etc.

Essential oil can be used only after preliminary dilution. The optimal proportions in this case are 5 drops of ether per 15 ml of base oil. Based on this, you can create various oil mixtures.

Moisturizing body oils

Let's take a little look at each oil separately.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is an all-rounder. It can be used for hair, body, face, and hands. It is suitable for dry skin, which is prone to constant flaking, and for oily skin. Coconut oil nourishes and moisturizes, smoothes existing wrinkles and prevents the appearance of new ones, helps relieve irritation, so can be used after hair removal, improves skin immunity, and helps fight acne. This oil has a lot of properties and all of them are necessary and useful. However, all these properties can only be taken advantage of by using a natural product, which, unfortunately, is difficult to find; there are a lot of fakes on the market. But you can prepare it yourself, especially since it is very, very simple to do.

How to make coconut oil

To prepare approximately 80-120 g of butter you will need only one nut. Drain the juice from the coconut, peel the nut, and remove the pulp. Grate the pulp on a fine grater and pour it into a saucepan or bowl. Cover the grated coconut with hot boiled water, but in no case with boiling water, so that the liquid covers the flesh by two fingers. Take a regular masher and begin to thoroughly mash the pulp. Ideally, continue the action until the liquid cools down, because the stronger and longer it wrinkles, the more oil you will get later. The container should then be placed in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning you will see that a layer of oil has formed on top of the liquid; it must be carefully removed. You can store these slices, wrapped in parchment paper, or melt the butter in a water bath and pour it into a convenient glass jar.

Shea butter

Unlike most butters, shea butter has a solid structure.  But this is easy to fix; just hold a small piece in your hands and it will melt under the influence of body temperature. If the oil is real, it will have a slight tint of yellow, and its aroma will have hints of nuts. This oil is extracted from the fruit of a tree called shea butter. They are somewhat reminiscent of avocados, but smaller in size.

Shea butter is very useful in cosmetology, but it will be especially effective in the case of rough skin, severe peeling, unsightly skin color, flabby and aging skin. You can make a very good cream based on shea butter. To do this, melt a large spoon of shea butter in a water bath, add a couple of large spoons of almond oil and stir. Stir in a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil, such as lavender, and remove from heat. The composition should be stored only in a cool place in a glass container.

Olive oil

One of the most popular oils, which, unlike sunflower seed oil, is perceived not only as a culinary, but also as a cosmetic ingredient. Its great advantage is that after application to the skin, it will retain moisture for up to 7-8 hours, and sometimes more. Therefore, using it in personal care, you don’t have to worry about dryness. The oil can be used to make a good moisturizer. To do this, heat a little oil in a water bath, add one yolk and mix very well. The cream is ready! It must be stored in a glass container and always in the refrigerator. Since the product is absolutely natural, there is no point in preparing it for future use; cook the composition for a maximum of two to three days so that it does not have time to sour.

Argan oil

This product is made from the green fruits of the argan tree. Since argan is found only in three places on earth, these are Israel, Algeria and Morocco, it is not at all surprising that the cost of real oil is high and it is very difficult to find it, again in its original form. Just imagine, to get a kilogram of butter, you need to process as many as 100 kg of raw materials!

In cosmetology, it is universal and can be used not only in body care, but also for facial skin and hair. In a short time it helps restore elasticity, eliminate dryness and even smooth out wrinkles. Massage using argan oil shows greater effectiveness. To use it economically, you can add a few drops to other base oils or to regular lotion and massage the skin.

Sunflower oil

One of the simplest and most accessible oils of our time, but this also played a cruel joke on it. Due to its widespread use in cooking, sunflower seed oil is rarely associated with body care. But in vain, this is a very rich composition of various vitamins and microelements, especially the beauty vitamin (vitamin E). Masks, lotions and creams based on it wonderfully nourish and moisturize the dermis.

The oil can be added to baths in just a few drops, this will significantly soften the skin. And after water procedures, the oil can be applied to the skin and wait 20 minutes, then wipe the skin with a clean, dry towel; in this case, the oil can perfectly replace regular lotion. Some people use sunflower seed oil to lightly exfoliate by adding, for example, boiled coffee or oatmeal.

Sandalwood oil

This oil is a storehouse of beneficial ingredients for the skin. It can not only moisturize, but also restore and heal the dermis. A natural antiseptic will help restore problematic skin on the body, where acne regularly appears. It normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands. In addition to its therapeutic effect, the composition acts as a very good moisturizer, is suitable for caring for even the most sensitive skin and, thanks to its properties to relieve irritation, inflammation and itching, can become indispensable for it.

You can use sandalwood oil as an aromatic additive to the bath; to do this, you need to first dissolve about seven drops of the oil in full-fat milk or base oil and pour the ingredient into the bath. The water temperature should not be hot, the optimal value is +38°C. The aromatic bath takes about fifteen minutes.

You can also enrich your usual cosmetics with oil, such as body lotion or face cream. Only 4-5 drops will be enough for a jar. Add them to the bottle and shake thoroughly. Regular use of this product will very soon make your skin soft and velvety.

Grapeseed oil

This oil is very suitable for dry dermis that has already begun to lose its elasticity. You can use the oil in its pure form, applying it either to problem areas or to the entire body. It is not the rarest, but at the same time it cannot be called cheap, which is explained by the complexity of production. Therefore, be careful, and if you suddenly see oil being sold for pennies, it is better to refuse such a dubious purchase. Grape seed oil is especially indicated for aging skin, as well as for women over 35. It is absorbed very quickly and does not leave a greasy residue or a filmy feeling.

If the skin is dry and requires constant moisturizing, then using it in its pure form will be expensive, so it is better to prepare something like a lotion based on it. For example, one version of such a moisturizer is prepared from grape seed oil, a couple of drops of rosemary oil and the same amount of lavender oil. Mix all this and apply to the body. By the way, this recipe, if used regularly, will help make even stretch marks less noticeable.
