Causes of children's tears
Imagine that you were pulled out of comfortable conditions and sent to live in a foreign country, where everything is new and unusual. This is approximately how a newborn feels: for nine months he lived in his stomach, not needing anything. Finding himself in an unknown environment, the baby experiences enormous stress, and his only way of communicating is crying.

Why does a month old baby cry?
During the first weeks of life, babies sleep a lot and wake up mainly to feed. During these periods, they are more often worried about physiological reasons: discomfort from a full diaper, hunger, thirst, pain in the intestines. A hungry child has his own “call sign” - he opens his mouth, greedily swallowing air, and turns his head in search of the chest. Babies often have trouble with their tummies, their digestive systems are still far from adult ones, and even breast milk is not always easy to digest. Households often diagnose many overly capricious children with “colic,” but do not forget about the so-called “rule of three”: if a child is bothered by colic, then he cries at least three hours a day and three days a week. In addition, colic crying begins as unexpectedly as it ends. If you still suffer from colic, you should consult a doctor, he will recommend herbal decoctions or drops to help your small tummy.
Why does a child wake up and cry at night?
Night vigils are one of the main maternal problems. But the worst thing is that fragmented sleep leads to a deterioration in the baby’s general condition, capricious mood and accumulation of fatigue. Let's try to understand the reasons for night awakenings in order to improve your baby's night sleep:
- The most common reason for crying at night is an incorrect sleep association. Unfortunately, babies are born without the ability to fall asleep independently. Parents, in order to calm and put their child to sleep, resort to various methods - rocking, putting to sleep at the breast, giving a bottle or pacifier, driving in a car. When using such “helpers,” do not forget that when the child wakes up, he will require the restoration of the usual conditions for falling asleep. That is, if he fell asleep in your arms, rocked to sleep on a fitball, when the sleep cycle changes, he wakes up in his crib, he will be very unhappy and want to be rocked to sleep again.
- Hunger or thirst is also a common cause of crying at night, especially in the first months.
- Habitual hunger. If the baby is fed at the same time at night every day, he will wake up with a feeling of habitual hunger. Feed your newborn baby on demand, but if your baby is more than six months old and he wakes up every hour at night, you should think about whether he really wants to eat. In order to combat habitual hunger, it is worth gradually pushing back the feeding time, trying to calm the baby with other methods.
- Inappropriate temperature conditions, in other words, the child is hot or cold. Remember, the optimal temperature in the room should vary from 18-22 degrees, and humidity – from 50%.

Why does a child constantly cry?
If your baby cries all day long, he may be sick. Measure your temperature, check your throat, ears, and if you have any suspicious symptoms, consult a doctor. After six months (and sometimes even earlier), the baby may experience pain from teething. During these periods, worsening night sleep, bad mood, and moodiness are possible.
A common cause of restless, whiny behavior is overwork and hyperfatigue. The nervous system of babies is not yet able to withstand long periods of wakefulness, check the table below to know for sure whether the baby is overtired. If the baby goes to bed and wakes up crying, this is the main sign of overtiredness: in this case, reduce the time you are awake and help your baby sleep off.
How to understand why a child is crying
As the child grows up, the range of interests of the child increases, the intonations of crying expand: and if in the first weeks the baby is capricious more often for physiological reasons, then after three months, by the manner of sobbing, it is already easier to determine whether the baby is screaming in pain, or whether he is simply bored with the game. Do not forget that in the first six months of life, the baby does not cry without reason. Therefore, if you are concerned about your baby's strong, uncharacteristic crying, contact your pediatrician immediately.
Health to you and your children!
