How to choose a blush color for your face: instructions and secrets

Blush is the final stage for any make-up, so you should pay special attention to their choice. First, determine your skin tone:

  • for a cold shade, blush with a predominance of pinkish or purple is suitable;
  • for skin with a dark sheen, blush with a yellow and brown sheen is suitable.

Here are a few more rules to help you choose the right blush color:

  • the shade of blush and lipstick should harmoniously and integrally match;
  • you should choose a blush based on the color of your eyes and hair;
  • it will be better to choose a blush tone that will be similar to your natural blush;
  • universal shades: peach and light brown are suitable for almost everyone.

Secrets when applying blush

  • In order to find out what your natural blush is, it is enough to clench your fist tightly, and then, relaxing your hand, you will see exactly the blush color that suits you.
  • Coral tone when worn on the top of the cheekbones will visually lift your face while creating a lifting effect.
  • If you are not satisfied with the brightness of the blush and would like to make them paler, then type powder on the brush, then dip it into the blush and back into the powder. After this procedure, the blush on your face will be barely noticeable.

How to properly apply blush with a photo

After you have decided on the tone of the blush, it's time to start the correct application, which depends on what type faces yours applies.

Round face

Holders of a round face with voluminous cheeks can mask them with the correct application of blush. For such girls, experts recommend using a flesh or dark beige blush, since pink will give the cheeks additional volume, and this is undesirable.

  1. From ears to chin, draw a thin layer around the outline of your face.
  2. In the center of the nose, draw a line of blush from the bridge of the nose to the tip, carefully blend the border.
  3. Pull in your cheeks, carefully brush over the formed depressions.
  4. Loosen the cheeks and blend the resulting lines.
  5. Distribute a small amount of blush under the lower lip, having previously marked the place with a light point.

ROUND

Square face

This shape is characterized by sharp corners that can be softened with the correct application of blush. For this, it is better to take light pinkish shades.

  1. Mentally connect the earlobe and the center of the chin with a line.
  2. Smoothly blend the blush over the line.
  3. Place spots on the outer corners of the eyes and blend them.

SQUARE

Oval face

The oval shape is one of the proportional ones, so it does not require a strong blush correction. For daytime makeup, it is enough to emphasize the apples of the cheeks that appear when you smile, and for a more evening make-up, you should shade the blush towards the temples. Owners of an elongated oval should distribute the blush in the center of the forehead, chin, and also on the area from the cheekbones to the ears.

OVAL

Triangular face

Correcting this shape, apply blush to the cheekbones and forehead.

TRIANGULAR

Trapezoidal face

You can correct this shape by applying powder, which should be 2 shades darker than your natural skin color, on the prominent parts of the lower jaw. And blush should be applied to the chin and temples.

Diamond-shaped face

Correct your face by applying blush on the prominent parts of the face: the middle of the forehead area and the chin area, be sure to shade everything thoroughly so that they do not stand out too much.

How to apply blush bronzer

The application of the bronzer depends on whether it is matte or pearlescent. Matte is more suitable for sculpting the face, so it is more versatile than pearlescent, but less effective. You will not be able to achieve a beautiful glow from it.

  1. Prepare your face before applying. Apply foundation and corrector... But if your skin does not need a foundation, it is enough to moisturize it with a tint cream. If the skin is very light shade, try using a foundation 1-1.5 shades darker, so the bronzer will look more harmonious. For a natural look, blend the foundation behind your cheekbones.
  2. The bronzer shouldn't be too different from your complexion, but it should blend in with it too. Therefore, choosing a shade of bronzer is 1.5-2 tones darker than your skin. For light, peach, honey and light pink tones are suitable. On warm shades, a bronzing powder on a pink base with the addition of splashes of gold flowers looks good. Tones from a terracotta palette are beautifully applied to dark skin.

Apply bronzing powder on the convex parts of the face:

  • cheekbones;
  • whiskey;
  • nose;
  • on the sides of the bridge of the nose;
  • the edge of the forehead;
  • also suitable for neck, shoulder and décolleté correction.

Correctly applied bronzer will help you deal with such imperfections in appearance as:

  • pallor of the skin;
  • double chin;
  • wide cheekbones;
  • large forehead.

Bronzer application

When applying bronzer, avoid situations where the tones of the face, neck and décolleté begin to strongly contrast. Otherwise, your face will look darker, making the image ridiculous. The wrong application of bronzing powder will make imperfections such as acne, enlarged pores much more noticeable.

Sculptural application

One of the most common techniques for applying bronzing powder is sculpting, it will create a clear oval, and is suitable for almost all face shapes.

  1. From the temple to the corners of the lips, not reaching them by 1.5-2 cm, draw the letter "C" with a bronzer. Blend the resulting line well. Then apply bronzer to your forehead along the hairline.
  2. You can visually change the nose by applying a little bronzer to the side of the bridge of the nose.
  3. Distribute bronzer in smooth lines, affecting the bottom of the chin and the middle of the neck. Remember to shade well!

Also, for the correct application of the bronzer, you need to take into account the shape of your face.

  • For an oval face, a bronzer is not required in makeup.
  • Holders of an elongated shape should apply bronzer along the hairline.
  • A round face can be corrected by applying bronzer to the temples, cheekbones and jaw line.
  • A square face also needs correction. It is worth darkening the cheekbones, as well as the temples, jaw and forehead along the hairline.
  • A heart-shaped face should be correctly corrected by darkening the temples and cheekbones.

Experts advise using a bronzer in tandem with a highlighter.

How to apply cream blush

A blush with this texture is more suitable for women with dry skin. Their high content of nourishing and moisturizing ingredients will have a beneficial effect on your skin. Before applying the cream blush, prepare your face, for this it is better to use a foundation. It is worth applying them with your fingertips.

Application

  1. Take some blush on your fingertips.
  2. Smile, because when you smile, the apples of your cheeks stand out quite well on your face.
  3. Blend them vertically.

How to use blush balls

The main advantage of such blush is the versatility of the resulting shade. They are suitable for both evening and daytime makeup. The ball-shaped shape prevents residues from accumulating on the brush, which means that a limited amount of blush gets on your face, this is what allows you to create a natural and healthy blush. To make up with them, you need two brushes:

  • dense thick brush to adjust the shape of the face;
  • rounded brush for ease of application.

How to choose a color

If you look into a box with colored balls, you cannot immediately understand what color you will observe on your face. But you can see which shade is the main one. The number of balls of a certain color exceeds the number of others, which means that the rest of the colors give only a faint shade. Choose a tone that suits your face. It is better if the shade of the blush matches your natural blush: light peach, pink, etc.

Application

Gently dip the brush into the balls and apply to the skin with gentle, dotted strokes, repeat several times. This method of application will give your skin a healthy glow. But you should refuse to apply with strokes, otherwise the blush will fall on your face in a thick layer. If you are applying blush to foundation or powder, avoid uneven, blotchy application.

Advice

Blush can also rejuvenate your face... To achieve this effect, you need to apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. To do this, smile at your reflection in the mirror and apply blush on the protruding parts with soft point movements, carefully shading them. To obtain a brighter result, the procedure should be repeated. To add expression to your face, apply a small amount of blush to the temples, forehead along the hairline and chin.

How to use baked blush

The baked blush will give your face a beautiful glow and shimmer. They are economical: a small amount is taken per brush, allowing you to create an effective make-up. The peculiarity of these blushes is that they can be applied both dry and wet, it all depends on what result you want to get:

  • dry application is suitable for everyday natural make-up;
  • for the evening - wet.

Dry application is familiar to everyone, blush should be applied with a brush, taking into account the tips that were above. The second layer will be much brighter than the first, this will allow you to adjust the saturation of the blush on the face. In order to make evening make-up, it is enough to moisten the brush. This will allow the blush to last much longer. Many baked blush will clump and clump when in contact with water, which negatively affects the quality of your make-up.

Difficulties can arise when purchasing the right ingredients. However, in return, you will receive not expensive, high-quality blush, which will differ from the store ones in particular persistence.

The foundation

First, prepare the base (base) for making blush, it should be white. Rice starch or white mica is suitable for this. But for high-quality blush, so that in the future they do not crumble or roll, it is better to mix these ingredients together.

Base option number 1

To do this, you will need 8 g of talcum powder, 6 g of magnesium sterate and 4 g of potato starch.

Rice starch and white mica in a 1: 1 ratio.

Base option number 3

3 tbsp. tablespoons of titanium dioxide, 2 teaspoons of magnesium is erased and 1-2 teaspoons of white mica.

Mix all the ingredients and pass them through a sieve two or three times.

Color

If you plan to make a blush with glitter, then you should make a base with the presence of white mica. If you want to get a matte shade, then oxides will help you. When mixing, it is not recommended to use more than two shades. Mixing examples:

  • 1 ml of red iron oxide, 4 ml of base, 1.5 ml of ultramarine blue (matte bright color);
  • 1.5 ml gold, 1 ml white mica, 0.5 ml red iron oxide and 1 ml base (shiny pinkish tint).

Preparation

First you need to protect yourself, an old T-shirt or apron will do, also cover your nose and mouth with a mask so as not to provoke allergies... Mix all the ingredients in a bag until smooth, for this you can use a coffee grinder or glinder. Then check if you have chosen the right shade. Apply the resulting mixture with a cotton swab to your hand or cheek. If you are not happy with the tone, continue with the mixing procedure. If the color turned out:

  • too bright - add more base;
  • too light - pour in more mica.

You can store such blush in a jar for a very long time if you have not used starch. The shelf life of blush on a starch basis is two years.
