How often to wash your hair
The first mistake that ladies make regarding the hair washing procedure is cleansing as it gets dirty. In fact, this rule only applies to women with normal hair type, which is quite rare. If the condition of your hair still gives you concern, be careful about the frequency of washing your hair responsibly, otherwise the problem will worsen.
In this case, you should treat your hair with extreme care, otherwise you will simply lose a significant part of it. Train yourself to have a head no more than once a week; the procedure should not be long, about 10-15 minutes. A sufficiently high water temperature will stimulate the production of sebum, which in turn will eliminate dryness and provide your hair with a healthier appearance and natural shine. Care products, such as foams and balms, should contain natural oils and moisturize the hair. Use a decoction of plantain or chamomile as a natural rinse.
The regime for washing oily hair is radically different from the procedures for dry and lifeless hair. Many people are faced with increased greasiness, due to which their hair quickly becomes unkempt. Oily hair needs to be washed quite often, about once every 2-3 days, and you need to choose water at room temperature so that there is no additional stimulation of the glands. Alcohol tinctures of calendula or red pepper work effectively as a rinse. If, in addition to oiliness, there is a problem of dandruff, then detergents are selected taking into account the presence of this disease.
How to wash your hair
Main types of hair washes:
- Medicated shampoos are designed to address a range of hair health problems, the most common of which are dandruff, seborrhea, ringworm and alopecia (hair loss). Depending on the purpose, they may have different properties and composition, and include natural and chemical components.
- Shampoos for oily hair are designed to solve the problem of increased greasiness; they contain quite a lot of aggressive detergent ingredients, but they must also contain nourishing, moisturizing, and antibacterial ingredients to eliminate dandruff.
- Products for washing dry hair, on the contrary, contain a minimal amount of detergents; their task is to provide high-quality hydration thanks to all kinds of oils.
- Shampoos for normal hair do not solve problems with the condition of the hair; the main effect is aimed at cleansing.
- If you are short of time, the so-called dry shampoo will refresh your hair. It is produced in the form of an aerosol and is made on the basis of starch and talc. It should be applied to the roots and then combed through the hair, thereby removing excess oil.
- Some anti-dandruff shampoos are not a remedy, however, they do a good job if the situation is not severe. They should not be used too often, especially for those with thin and brittle hair.
- Recently, natural hair cosmetics that do not contain aggressive detergents, fragrances and dyes have become increasingly popular. Sulfate-free shampoos do not foam well and are ideal for ladies with normal to dry hair types, but they will not be able to cope with excess oil.
- Natural hair washing products also have their advantages - the absence of harmful chemical components, you can find out in practice how well they cope with their task. For example, you can wash oily hair with a soda solution; it has a drying effect, egg yolks will remove impurities and moisturize the roots, mustard powder stimulates growth, and rye flour nourishes and adds shine.

How to wash your hair correctly
Step-by-step instructions for cleansing hair:
- Prepare the necessary cleaning and care products.
- Comb your hair well to better remove dirt and dead skin cells.
- Set the appropriate water temperature.
- Wet your hair evenly, rub the detergent in your palms, and massage it over the entire length of your hair, from roots to ends.
- Regular shampoo can be washed off immediately, while medicinal shampoo can be left on for as long as prescribed in the instructions.
- Rinse the shampoo thoroughly and repeat the procedure if necessary.
- Apply balm to clean, damp hair.
For better blood circulation to the scalp, you can use special massage techniques - stroking between the fingertips, rubbing in a circular motion, pulling the hair between the fingers and lightly tapping the scalp with the pads.
How to use the balm
Not all shampoos are capable of taking care of hair and solving problems associated with insufficient nutrition, hydration and restoration; it is balms that take care of saturating the roots with useful substances and creating a film that protects the hair from the effects of negative factors. In addition, they neutralize the alkaline environment created after using regular shampoo and eliminate excess detergent.
All balms can be divided into two main categories:
- Conditioner balms. The main goal of such products is to restore the acid-base balance of the scalp and give the hair qualities such as smoothness, elasticity and shine. Conditioner balms nourish the structure of the hair shaft with vitamins and microelements.
- Conditioner balms are designed to protect them from various damage as a result of drying or exposure to wind, sunlight and poor-quality water. After using this composition, hair dries faster, does not become electrified and gains additional volume. You should not apply conditioner too often; it weighs down your curls, making them greasy.
Features of using hair balm:
- The balm should be applied after washing the hair, evenly over the entire length. If your hair is coarse, you can additionally comb it with a comb so that the composition is well absorbed.
- As for the exposure time, this information should be clearly stated in the instructions. Do not overexpose the product.
- If the balm contains nutrients, rub it not only into the hair shaft, but also apply it to the roots.
- Rinse off the balm with cool water so that the hair scales can close.
- For problematic hair, there are special products that do not need to be washed off; they create a protective film, nourish and stimulate growth.

How to dry your hair
The ideal option for drying hair is the natural way, but sometimes there is a catastrophic lack of time, and we resort to the help of a special device, a hair dryer. It is best to choose a hairdryer with several modes, including gentle, and an ionization function, which promotes more gentle drying. In any case, hot air causes damage to hair, to reduce it, do not neglect the following rules:
- Prepare all drying products in advance so as not to be distracted and not overdry your hair.
- Immediately after washing, collect most of the moisture by patting your hair with a towel, paying special attention to the root zone. Microfiber towels work best for this task. Do not twist your curls, rub them vigorously, or leave the towel on for more than 10 minutes, as this will lead to breakage.
- When drying, use the gentle mode, usually indicated on the hairdryer with a snowflake icon. Treat damaged hair with cold air.
- Use special heat-protective products, sprays, balms and serums, which must be applied along the entire length and left on the hair until the next wash.
- To avoid using hair straighteners, straighten your hair while drying by holding a hair dryer in your right hand and a comb in your left.
- Hair often gets tangled, so first divide it into zones and secure with clips.
- Remember the main rule - first you need to dry the roots, then the ends.
- Maintain distance - keep the hair dryer 20 cm from your hair.
