Home Health Pregnancy Is a bent uterus a death sentence?

A woman’s ability to give birth to a child depends entirely on the condition of her genitals. Often, women of childbearing age are diagnosed with a bent uterus. What is it, and how does such a diagnosis affect the ability to bear a child? Let's find out today.

Bend of the uterus - what does it mean?

By bending the uterus we mean such a state of the organ when the uterus is deviated from the standard position in one direction or another. Most often, this pathology is congenital, but it can also be acquired.

z2 There are several positions of the uterus when bending:

  • Retroflexion is the name given to the position when the uterus is tilted back. In this position, the uterus deviates towards the rectum. Retroflexion is the most common.
  • Hyperanteflexia is the forward deviation of the uterus.
  • Deviation of the uterus to the sides, that is, to the right or left, is called leteroflexion.

It is worth noting that even with a normal position, the uterus is capable of moving. Its position depends on the nearby organs. So if the intestines are full, the uterus will tilt forward, and if the bladder is full, it will move the organ backwards.

Causes of uterine bending

The development of pathology of this nature is caused by various reasons. The determination of the method of treatment depends on the factor that caused the bending of the uterus. It is worth noting that the incorrect location of the uterus may simply be a feature of the woman’s body. This means that the curvature of this woman’s uterus has been formed since birth. In such a case, the bend is considered anatomical; it does not bother the woman in any way and does not in any way affect her ability to give birth to a child.

z3 If the bend develops as a result of any external factors, then it is called pathological. Among the reasons causing pathological bending are the following:

  • Various intestinal diseases.
  • Development of malignant tumors of the genital organs.
  • Great physical activity.
  • Decreased tone of the ligaments and muscles of the pelvic area after childbirth.
  • Penetration of infections into the female body during childbirth and the further development of inflammation.

Consequences of a bent uterus

With anatomical bending of the uterus there are usually no consequences. Often a woman does not even suspect that she has such a diagnosis. In cases where the uterus is bent due to other circumstances, the consequences can be expected to be the most serious. The simplest is unpleasant long menstruation. In this case, the beginning menstruation marked by painful spasms. Bleeding can be severe and there are often clots in the blood. Bleeding sometimes occurs between periods.

z4 Women with this diagnosis often feel the urge to urinate. But there is no inflammation or pain. Some ladies experience pain during sex, gynecological examination or bowel movements. The second half of pregnancy may be accompanied by pain.

The most dire consequences of uterine displacement are the difficulty of conception and difficulty in bearing a child due to adhesions. After all, a bend as such is not considered an obstacle to pregnancy. But neglected adhesions, which cause the bend to form, pose a threat to pregnancy.

Deflection of the uterus and pregnancy

If uterine deviation is a congenital feature of a woman, then it does not in any way affect her ability to conceive and bear a child. Women with this diagnosis are able to get pregnant on their own and give birth to a healthy baby. It’s another matter when the deviation appeared as a result of some external factors.

z5 If the pathological bend of the uterus is weakly expressed, then it usually does not exclude the ability to bear children, just like the anatomical bend. With a very pronounced bend, a real obstacle to sperm appears. In this position, sperm cannot penetrate into the uterine cavity due to the fact that its cervix is close to the anterior wall of the vagina. If the bend of the uterus occurs due to the presence of adhesions, then a narrowing or even obstruction of the fallopian tubes occurs, which also leads to the inability to conceive a child.

How to get pregnant with a bent uterus

Experience shows that a bent uterus is diagnosed in every fifth woman. Most of them successfully give birth to children. So we can say with confidence that get pregnant if the uterus is bent, it is possible.

If you decide to become pregnant, having been diagnosed with a bent uterus, then first of all you need to visit a gynecologist and consult with him. It is necessary to establish the cause of the bending of the uterus and try to cure it. For successful treatment, it is important to establish the cause of the bend.

If the cause of this pathology is an inflammatory process, then it is necessary to eliminate the inflammation and also strengthen the pelvic muscles by doing physical therapy. It is also recommended to take a course of gynecological massage. It will take a long time to treat adhesions. A course of physiotherapy will be required, followed by enzyme therapy and mud therapy. These methods are aimed at resolving adhesions. You also need to undergo a gynecological massage.

Having corrected the bend of the uterus, a special device is put on to hold the uterus in its normal position. If the case is particularly severe or advanced, surgical intervention is prescribed. Adhesions on the uterus are removed, it is given the correct position and fixed.

Poses when bending the uterus

If you are having difficulty conceiving due to a uterine deviation, try having sex in special poses. These should be positions for which the path of sperm to the uterus becomes as short as possible.

The most convenient position that allows you to conceive a baby when the uterus is deviated to the posterior position is considered to be the knee-elbow body position. In this position, the female organ naturally moves slightly forward and takes an almost normal position. In addition, in this position a man can penetrate deeper.

There are many variations of this pose. For example, a woman should kneel down or stand on her elbows and knees, she can lie sideways or lower her chest onto the bed. It is recommended to lower your head and raise your lower part higher. After completing sexual intercourse, do not rush to immediately change the position. Allow the sperm to enter the uterine cavity. It is also recommended that immediately after sex, raise your legs as high as possible or even take the “birch tree” pose and stand in this state for several minutes.

An effective pose is during which the lady remains in a position lying on her back with her pelvis raised up. This can be achieved by placing a cushion under the buttocks. Alternatively, you can simply throw your legs over the man’s shoulders.

If a woman’s uterus is displaced to the side from the normal position, then after finishing sex, lie a little on the side in the direction of which there is a deviation. This will help the sperm enter the cervical canal.

It's best to have sex before bed, so you don't have to jump up and run somewhere later. This will give the sperm time to penetrate into the uterus.
