Home Health Diets "Perfect Compatibility": Product combinations

The idea that not all products are combined came to people in ancient times. After studying the body's reaction to a combination of certain foods, it was concluded that not all foods can be eaten with each other at the same time. This is how the idea of separate nutrition arose, which today has hundreds of thousands of followers.

The right combination of products

About the correct combination of food products, two main theories have been proposed, from which all modern ones are based:

  1. Herbert Shelton, who argued that the most positive meal would be with the most monotonous meal. That is, the simpler your food, all the better. Shelton suggested the use of nutritional fasting with separate meals, which caused a lot of condemnation from his fellow workers. However, based on his theory, he was able to help many people to cure diseases of neurosis, diabetes, asthma. And at the same time, he suffered defeats, because of which he once went to prison.
    To date, it is his product compatibility table that nutritionists around the world use.

  2. Howard Hay, who divided food into three classes: protein-rich, carbohydrate, neutral. He considered vegetables and fruits to be the main food. Hay was a supporter of natural products and recommended excluding anything refined from the diet.
    He considered it unacceptable to eat a lot of food that oxidizes the body, advising to replace it with alkaline. Since many diseases arise from the first, and the second helps the body to cope with them.

Based on these theories, the following types of products can be derived:

  • proteinaceous - meat, fish, beans, nuts;
  • fatty - vegetables with the exception of potatoes, wine, fruits, berries;
  • carbohydrates - potatoes, jam, pastries, honey.

There are only two ways to combine them:

  1. Protein + Fatty.
  2. Fatty + Carbohydrates.

Incompatible products

Incompatible products include:

  • Proteins and carbohydrates, as proteins produce acid and carbohydrates produce alkali. As a result, the alkali neutralizes the acid necessary for the digestion of food and the stomach slows down its work. Food remains in it to rot, which leads to discomfort.
  • Protein with protein. In order for the stomach to digest vegetable or animal protein, gastric juice is required, with different concentrations and acidity. You cannot eat cheese and meat in one sitting, this will lead to indigestion.

  • Sugar and starch. They have a different digestion system. The starch in the mouth begins to disintegrate, ending in the stomach, and sugar begins its journey from there and ends in the small intestine. If consumed in pairs, the starch will remain in the stomach and begin to ferment.

Product Compatibility Chart

A food compatibility chart may look different, but it always has one basis and one meaning - to show how to combine foods correctly.
