How to remove scotch marks from furniture
There are several ways to fix unsightly adhesive tape stains on furniture. For example, polished or varnished furniture will be saved by gasoline or the irreplaceable substance "White spirit". You just need to rub the stained place with a cloth dipped in one of the selected substances and the remaining adhesive tape will easily come off. The disadvantage of this method is that these substances leave an unpleasant smell that does not fade for a long time.
It is more convenient to remove traces of adhesive tape from the surface of the furniture using a regular hair dryer. The surface of the spot must be well warmed up with hot air. After that, you need to take a piece of cloth, moisten it in oil plant origin and wipe off the pollution. Oily residues, in turn, are easily washed off with simple laundry soap, which does not leave marks and does not damage furniture.
It is very easy to remove contamination with any oil ether. You just need to rub the stain with a napkin dipped in ether, and the sticky residue will go away. The oil itself will simply evaporate from the surface over time, leaving no trace.
Hot detergent solution effectively removes glue. A little soapy liquid is foamed with hot water and covered with it on the sticky spot. After waiting a few minutes, the traces of the stain are wiped off. Wipe the surface of the furniture with a dry cloth.
How to remove tape marks from plastic
The sticky residue of the scotch tape very quickly collects all the dust and dirt, becoming especially noticeable in the kitchen. You can clean the plastic parts using household cleaning products that are available to any housewife:
- For stubborn dirt, try rubbing it cleaning agent with abrasive particles, for example, powder "Pemolux". The disadvantage of this method is that with strong friction, the abrasive can scratch the plastic surface.
- Any plant-based oil, base or essential oil, removes scotch stains well. It permeates the adhesive layer and after a few minutes the residues of dirt easily peel off the surface. If the contamination has not completely departed from the first time, then the treatment must be repeated.
- Medical alcohol copes well with scotch dirt. It is able not only to remove the trail from the adhesive tape, but also to lighten the yellowish spots remaining in the places where the adhesive tape is glued.
- Another piece of duct tape does an excellent job with scotch tape. You just need to stick a new piece of scotch tape on the dirt and pull sharply. Remnants of the tape will come off. If at the first attempt it was not possible to completely clean the surface, the procedure is repeated.
- Effective on stains baking soda... The substance is mixed with a small portion of water to form a slurry. Cover the surface of the stain with a sponge and clean it.
- The rest of the tape is susceptible to the action of a regular stationery eraser. The eraser simply erases the stain, like a pencil.
How to remove tape marks from other surfaces
If there are traces of adhesive tape on glass objects, then detergents will help. For starters, you can try a glass cleaner. For old and large stains, use solvents, gasoline or acetone.
Small, recent stains respond well to abrasives. The powder must be diluted to a mushy state and applied to the dirt. After a while, the stain will soften and come off easily.
Aggressive substances are suitable for removing stains from fabrics. The solvent is liberally applied to the dirty area with a cotton pad and left for a quarter of an hour. After that, you need to try to wipe off the dirt. Fresh contamination will go away on the first try, but for old contamination, the treatment will need to be repeated.
If the fabric cannot be exposed to solvents, you can try to treat the stain with a piece of new duct tape, repeatedly sticking new duct tape on the stain and tearing it off abruptly.
