How to wash red wine
Often, after stormy parties or simply after meeting with guests, stains from red wine appear on furniture upholstery, clothing or table textiles. All housewives know that such pollution is very difficult to cope with. Let's figure out how to remove such stains without leaving any traces.
How to remove red wine from white
Special pigments called anthocyanins are responsible for the red color of wine. To remove the stain, it is necessary to use substances that dissolve anthocyanins. In this case, hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice, vinegar, ammonia or regular ethyl alcohol are effective. Let us immediately make a reservation that it is better not to use the methods proposed below for silk, wool and other delicate materials. It is better to dry clean such items immediately.
There are several methods for removing fresh stains of this kind from white fabrics:
- Stains on white fabric from red wine should be immediately filled with heated vodka or wine, but this time white.
- Fill the damaged area with salt in several batches. The salt will absorb the remaining wine and prevent the pigments from being absorbed deep into the fabric. Then you just need to wash the fabric in hot water.
- Apply lemon juice to the red wine stain, then blot the area with a paper towel. Instead of lemon juice, you can use ammonia in the same way.
- Domestos works well on such stains. Apply it to the stain for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
After using any of the proposed options, be sure to carefully wash thing. If the composition of the fabric allows it, then it is best to wash the item with bleach.
How to remove a red wine stain
The range of possible means of removing stains from red wine on colored fabric is somewhat wider. Here you can use folk recipes and specially designed anti-stain compositions.
To remove stains from colored fabric, mix glycerin, purchased at a regular pharmacy, with raw egg yolk. Apply this mixture to a dry cloth and wait a few hours. Then rinse the item and wash it by hand or in washing machine on a delicate wash cycle.
You can try to eliminate spot using boiling water. For this you will need an assistant. Stretch the affected item over the bathtub and pour a thin stream of boiling water over the stain. In this way, you can remove stains from fabric that can withstand high temperatures well. Do not use it on delicate fabrics.
If you did not have time to get rid of the stain immediately after it appeared, then it will be quite difficult to do this later. As you know, stains from red wine that are several hours old are much more difficult to clean. But even such stains can be effectively dealt with.
First, mix 50 ml of rubbing alcohol and a teaspoon of water. Treat the affected tissue with this mixture. It is possible that the contamination will not completely dissolve the first time. In this case, repeat the procedure. After removing the stain, wash the item well.
Another effective composition is prepared from 5 small spoons of dishwashing detergent, 1 small spoon of ammonia and half a spoon of turpentine. This mixture must be foamed and applied in a thick layer to the stain. After a quarter of an hour, you can evaluate the result.
