Home Health How to properly remove plaque

Most people brush their teeth twice a day, fully confident that it is enough to maintain their oral health. But in fact, plaque accumulates on the teeth during the day, leading to various dental problems over time.

Why plaque is harmful

Each person has a special film on the surface of the teeth during the day, consisting of microorganisms, food debris, and saliva particles. It is impossible to prevent the appearance of plaque, therefore it is necessary to constantly get rid of it.

Immediately after the formation of plaque is white, it accumulates on the teeth at the edge of the gums. Over time, as a result of the activity of bacteria, the plaque turns yellow and hardens. If plaque is not removed in time, it becomes stone-like and takes on a darker and more intense shade. Gradually, the plaque layer rests more and more tightly on the gingival groove. Under the dense bloom, there is an increased multiplication of bacteria, which can cause inflammation, the development of periodontitis or gingivitis.

Most plaque accumulates near the salivary glands. The reason for this is that saliva, by its effect, turns plaque into tartar, which causes even more problems.

Plaque removal by a professional

You can effectively remove plaque using the services of dental clinics. There are several methods of getting rid of plaque that accumulates on the teeth:

  • The mechanical method is now practically not used, although earlier it was the only way with high quality brush the surface of the teeth... It lies in the fact that plaque is removed using special metal hooks. With their help, the doctor simply splits stones with tooth enamel.

  • The chemical method is also very rarely used. It consists in applying to the surface of the teeth special agents made of alkali and acids, softening plaque, which is subsequently removed. The disadvantage of this method is that the composition acts only on the surface, and bacteria remain in the space between the teeth and under the gums, and plaque soon reappears.
  • The laser method consists of exposing dense plaque to a laser beam. The device crushes the stone into small particles, which are then easily removed. This method is one of the most modern. It does not damage enamel, destroys bacteria and whitens teeth. The disadvantage of this technique is that it is very expensive.
  • The air abrasive method is used quite often. In this case, abrasive substances act on tartar and plaque, which are washed off with a stream of water. This way you can remove plaque from hard-to-reach places.
  • Ultrasonic cleaning is also used very often. This method is completely safe for enamel, affects any dirt, painless. During the cleaning process, the fabrics are disinfected and bleached. In this way, you can clean not only the visible part of the tooth, but also the root. But with all the advantages of the ultrasound method, it also has several disadvantages. For example, it is not allowed for diabetes, heart disease, high sensitivity.

Removing plaque at home

It is not at all necessary to seek professional help for a high-quality cleaning of dental plaque. You can also do this with simple home remedies. For example, regular baking soda does this well. Hydrogen peroxide effectively whitens teeth. It is used to rinse the mouth, diluted with water. Add a small spoonful of peroxide to half a glass of water and quickly rinse your mouth with this solution after brushing your teeth with the usual paste. You can simply soak a cotton pad in peroxide and wipe the surface of your teeth with it. In this case, you must try not to touch the disc to the gums.

Strawberry lovers can use the berry to whiten their teeth. It is kneaded, turning into gruel, and used instead of toothpaste. After brushing your teeth with strawberries, then brush again in the usual way. For a good result, strawberry peeling is done daily for a month.
