“Kefir beauty”: the use of kefir in home cosmetology
Beauty is the real weapon of any woman. Any woman, young and old, dreams of being, if not a queen, then definitely a princess. And this means that we want to be sophisticated, well-groomed and beautiful. In this century, self-care is not particularly difficult, since there are many means and methods for achieving beauty. The same salons, beauty studios, medical intervention. However, one should not discount home cosmetology, the one that gave rise to all currently existing services.
The benefits of kefir
Today we would like to talk about such a miracle of cosmetology as kefir. Yes, simple kefir. Why is it not used: to cleanse the body, and to strengthen nails, hair, and skin lifting.
If you want to lose extra pounds or cleanse your body, get rid of toxins and waste, you should pay attention to this simple fermented milk product. It is natural and does not contain additives, dyes, or preservatives. Fresh kefir has a mild laxative effect on the body and is recommended for use by people with poor digestion and children.
The thing is that kefir is obtained by fermenting milk with kefir fungus, which is based on a large number of beneficial microorganisms, including lactocultures - prebiotics. Prebiotics include lacto- and bifidobacteria, which are useful because they do not allow harmful microorganisms to grow and develop in the human body. Thanks to the listed qualities, kefir has a positive effect and acts as a restorative agent. The fact is that the microorganisms contained in this fermented milk product have bactericidal properties and prevent rotting in the intestines. And this helps speed up metabolism and strengthen the intestinal microflora.
Kefir also has a beneficial effect on the human muscular and nervous systems. It contains a large amount of vitamins, as well as protein and calcium.
This “miracle drink” is not a cure for all diseases, but with constant and proper use it will help you strengthen your health and immunity.
From all of the above, we can highlight several main beneficial qualities of kefir:
- firstly, it strengthens the immune system and improves overall well-being;
- secondly, it helps replenish the lack of moisture in the body and easily copes with thirst;
- thirdly, it helps the functioning of the stomach and helps cleanse the intestines;
- fourthly, it reduces the likelihood of cancer;
- fifthly, it improves the production of digestive juices, thereby speeding up metabolism;
- sixthly, it reduces fatigue, strengthens the nervous system, calms, and improves sleep.
Kefir for hair
Basically, kefir is used as a means to improve digestion. However, in addition to this, it is an excellent hair care product. Our grandmothers also used it to strengthen their hair, give it shine and strength.
Kefir is universal and suitable for any hair type. It nourishes them from roots to tips. Kefir also has such a wonderful property as peeling. Since this product is the result of fermentation, it contains many beneficial bacteria and a small amount of alcohol. It will easily cleanse the scalp of impurities and dead skin.
Another beneficial quality of kefir is hypoallergenicity. Anyone can use it for cosmetic purposes. It will not only strengthen your hair, but also protect it from external factors (wind, ultraviolet radiation).
Kefir has thousands of advantages, but it also has a disadvantage, just one. This product has a negative effect on dyed hair, in particular for dark colors. It simply removes the dye from the hair, lightening it. If for blondes this is only joy, then for brunettes it is a great disappointment.
It is worth remembering that any hair strengthening and treatment is good in moderation. To achieve a positive result from using kefir, you should know and try to follow several rules:
- Monitor the water temperature when rinsing kefir from your hair. The water should be warm. The thing is that kefir contains a large amount of protein, and at high temperatures it will curdle on your hair. Cold water will not be able to rinse your hair.
- If you use kefir to prepare masks, you should choose a product with the highest fat content.
- After applying the mask, you should keep it on your hair for at least an hour. The use of such masks is recommended no more than twice a week.
Kefir for face
Just like in the case of using kfir for hair, it will be suitable for any skin type. You can use it for cosmetic purposes on the face at least every day, there will be no negative consequences. Kefir masks will help cleanse the skin, give it a cheerful appearance and nourish it with strength:
- kefir has a peeling effect, it is able to exfoliate dead skin and also whitens it;
- since kefir normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands, there is a matting effect;
- a mask with kefir helps narrow enlarged pores.

Hair mask with castor oil and kefir
Heat kefir in a water bath until warm. Watch the temperature carefully; the kefir should turn out warm, but under no circumstances should it burn. Then add five drops of castor oil there. Mix well. Rub the resulting mixture into your hair and scalp. For best results, use a plastic cap and wrap a towel around your head. After thirty minutes, remove everything.
Fresh kefir mask for colored hair
It's no secret that after dyeing, hair becomes more fragile and brittle. Any hair dye, no matter how professional it is, dries out our hair. Accordingly, they become more vulnerable. However, fashionistas, and all those who like to change their hair color in search of the perfect shade, do not have to give up dyeing. There is an easy way to nourish your hair with moisture and give it strength and shine.
The recipe is simple: heat the kefir in a water bath, then distribute it over the entire length of your hair and leave for fifteen minutes. For such a mask, you should choose kefir with a higher fat content, it will be thicker. Be careful, kefir can unpleasantly flow down your collar. Therefore, after application, try to move less. The most “neat” ones can wrap their hair with film or a towel. You can wash off the mask without using shampoo, always with warm water. If you do everything correctly, the result will not be long in coming. After just a few uses you will feel the difference.

We rub what we get into the roots and apply it to the entire length of the hair. The mask is placed in several layers. After you have placed the first one, wait until it dries. Then put the second, third and so on. Put a plastic cap on your hair (if you don’t have one, you can use a regular penny bag), wrap your head in a towel. Leave for twenty minutes. Rinse off with water at room temperature, without using shampoo.
