If previously only children at school wore uniforms, now most reputable companies put forward strict criteria for office clothing. Moreover, the more successful the company, the more stringent the requirements: closed-toe shoes, dark business suit, white shirt, no accessories. In some cases, management pays attention to the makeup of employees, the price and appearance of handbags, as well as outerwear. Although at first glance these requirements for business style seem absurd, according to research, if office style is maintained, employee productivity increases significantly. And this is just one of the few positive aspects of the dress code.

Regardless of what time of year it is outside, each office has its own special weather and office wardrobe rules. People first started talking about a dress code at work back in the 80s, when women actively began to take part in politics and business. Thanks to strict outfits, the gender issue became secondary, and the skills, knowledge and skills of women came first.

Nowadays, office style is an integral part of the corporate culture of every successful company. Of course, some managers make their own adjustments, but still, there are unspoken rules:

• Ladies need to choose skirts and dresses of a classic cut. Their length should be just above the knee. Men should buy several trousers, a vest and definitely a jacket.
• It is advisable to buy classic women's tops, blouses and shirts. The neckline should be small, no lower than 8 cm to the collarbone. In cases where the fabric of the blouse is translucent, the linen should be selected according to color, and be as simple and discreet as possible. For men, everything is much simpler - just buy a few shirts, preferably white, and add a tie to them.

• Representatives of the fair sex are strictly prohibited from wearing tank tops with straps. Ideal option – top that covers the shoulders. If this wardrobe element is not monochromatic, that is, it has at least some kind of print, it is advisable to “even out” the image with a blazer.
• Shoes should be classic. Shoes are ideal, and for women, always with high heels and closed toes. Some employers allow ladies to wear plain ballet shoes that match their clothes. Of course, they should be without prints or decoration.
• If the manual does not require you to follow the “dark bottom and white top” rule, you can experiment a little by choosing one of the printed wardrobe items. But these are the maximum permissible standards. Otherwise, the image will look clumsy and there is no point in talking about matching the office style.
• Jeans – A very dubious piece of office wardrobe. But, as statistics show, some companies still allow them to be worn. Of course, there are also requirements for color, texture and tailoring. Jeans should be high or mid-waist, dark, without patterns, abrasions, holes, stripes, etc. In any case, it is recommended to complement them with a formal jacket and a shirt or blouse.

Considering the requirements for an office wardrobe described above, it is worth noting that there are more taboos than liberties. But still, experienced fashionistas find ways to dress fashionably, stylishly and comfortably.

Comfort and office style - are they compatible?

There is a stereotype that only brushed pants and a jacket with a zipper can be comfortable. This is wrong! The main criteria for choosing comfortable clothes for the office are the texture of the fabric and the cut. Moreover, you should not pay attention to wardrobe elements that are too fitted and interfere with active movement. At a minimum, it will be uncomfortable to do your job in such clothes. That is, it is better to give preference to natural fabrics, as well as a loose silhouette of clothing.

When choosing clothes for the office, it is enough to try on suits of different styles and determine which ones will be the most comfortable. Accordingly, it is worth dwelling on them.

Men are more relaxed about their choice of clothing than women. Moreover, if a representative of the stronger sex only needs a few shirts and a pair of trousers, then ladies need everything, and more. By showing your imagination, you can choose not only beautiful outfits, but also ones that match the office style. For example:

• When choosing shirts, you should pay attention to plain models, as well as those with small prints. It could be polka dots, stripes or checkered.

• For women, if a classic pencil skirt does not suit your body type, you can choose other styles. The main thing is that they comply with the dress code requirements.
• Pants give the figure a special chic. Moreover, if they are already accustomed to men in trousers, then sometimes there is a prejudiced attitude towards women. And in vain!

• Both men and women can replace jackets with jackets, vests and jumpers. You can safely choose models in pastel shades, as well as dark blue and gray.

It is important to note that in different companies, the concept of “office style” can differ significantly. For example, IT workers work in an office all day, so there are usually no special requirements for their clothing. But a bank employee who serves people every day should adhere to management’s recommendations and dress code rules.
