When most people mention cocoa butter, they associate exclusively with chocolate. Indeed, this product is a mandatory ingredient in any chocolate.  However, cocoa butter is recommended to be used not only in food, but also to solve cosmetic problems, for example, as an ingredient for homemade masks.

Benefits of cocoa butter for the face

Natural oil obtained from cocoa beans contains a significant amount of omega-3, which is used for many cosmetic procedures and is generally beneficial for our health. In addition, the oil contains other wonderful components, for example, palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids. Thanks to these components, the oil helps combat the aggressive effects of free radicals, restore epidermal cells and strengthen capillaries. We can say that cocoa butter has the quality of a natural antioxidant and will be useful in caring for the dermis that is showing the first signs of age-related changes.

Cocoa butter is especially rich in valuable microelements and vitamins:

  • Rutin is required to restore cellular structure. It penetrates the skin layers to a great depth, promoting their regeneration.
  • Tocopherol is a natural antioxidant. It protects the epidermis from the negative effects of sun rays and activates the healing of skin damage.
  • Vitamin K is necessary to relieve inflammatory processes.
  • Tannin revitalizes the color of the epidermis and helps maintain tone.

After using products with cocoa bean butter, the skin receives a significant amount of hydration, and the first age wrinkles that often appear on dry dermis are smoothed out. In the summer months, this oil can be used as protection against ultraviolet radiation, and in the cold season it will protect against cold and chapping. Cocoa butter is often used to care for the thin epidermis of the eyelids and lips, as well as to eliminate the effects of acne.

But for skin prone to increased oiliness, this oil can only be used spot-on, lubricating wounds and acne marks with it. Otherwise, the oil will increase the oiliness of the skin. After using cocoa butter, the skin becomes elastic, soft, and acquires a healthy shade.
