Where does a sore throat come from?
As a rule, people do not always understand where the indicated discomfort comes from. Thus, they begin to take medications uncontrollably without analyzing the cause of the pathological symptom that has arisen.
With the manifestation of this unpleasant symptomatology, we can talk about a number of factors that have nothing to do with the development of pathology, but on the other hand, we can talk about the development of a serious infectious disease.
According to experts, most often they are capable of provoking an unpleasant symptom:
- Overdried airspace. If you inhale such air for a long time, then this can provoke a drying out of the pharynx, which provokes the appearance of this unpleasant symptom. As a rule, a similar situation can be observed in the winter season, when the use of appliances for heating the premises leads to the fact that the air becomes dry.
- Swallowing of smoke and vapors of chemical components. If such vapors have penetrated the human respiratory system, then this can provoke irritation of the mucous membrane, as a result of which a burning sensation appears.
- If you strain your vocal cords for a long time, for example, when singing or talking for a long time, this can also provoke the onset of discomfort.
- If a person has suffered an injury, as a result of which a foreign object appeared in the throat, then as a result, damage to the mucous membrane may occur, which will cause the development of an inflammatory process and tickling in the designated area of the body.
- If gastric acid is released into the esophagus, then the specified section of the digestive system is damaged due to chemical damage to the mucous membrane, which ultimately leads to unpleasant sensations.
- An allergic reaction to pollen, which happens in the spring, is also characterized by a tickling sensation in the throat.
- One of the most common causes of tickling and sore throat is SARS. If you do not take treatment, then this feeling can develop into a dry or wet cough.
Sore throat and dry cough
In addition to the above catalysts, it is possible to provoke perspiration, which is accompanied by a dry cough:
- Pharyngeal neurosis, when the nervous apparatus of the pharynx ceases to function normally due to damage to the nerve endings. In addition to a tickle in the throat, the patient experiences symptoms such as loss of sensation, sore tongue and throat.
- Thyroid pathology, when nodes and growths are formed in this area.
Sometimes it happens that a dry cough, accompanied by a sore throat, indicates the onset of the development of diabetes mellitus. This is due to the fact that an increase in blood sugar levels contributes to the dryness of the patient's mucous membranes, as a result of which the indicated symptoms occur.
Prolonged sore throat
If the sore throat does not go away, then this suggests that there is a constant cause that irritates the throat mucosa. And in this case, there can be a lot of reasons why a throat can be damaged, ranging from banal dust particles to the appearance of a tumor in the brain.
However, you should not immediately panic. It is necessary to dwell on every possible cause of chronic tickling in the throat. For example, in the case of chronic rhinitis, untreated air ends up on the mucous membrane, irritating it. In addition, actively used household chemicals, cosmetics, as well as medications taken can irritate the mucous membrane.
If a person's sore throat has acquired a chronic form and manifests itself either with less or with greater force, and colds, tonsillitis and acute respiratory viral infections often make themselves felt, then we can assume that we are talking about the development of a chronic form pharyngitis... Impaired sensitivity of the pharyngeal nerves, suffered from TBI, damage to the central nervous system and the development of a brain tumor can lead to the fact that a person will constantly experience the indicated discomfort.
How to treat a sore throat
If a person does not know the reason that led to the occurrence of discomfort in the throat, then the best solution in the current circumstances would be to contact a specialist, including an ENT doctor or therapist. The attending physician, after conducting an examination, will be able to determine the picture of the patient's condition and prescribe the necessary treatment. It should be remembered that in the event of the indicated symptom, self-medication is not recommended.
Appointed by a specialist course of therapy and the methods chosen will depend on the type of pathological condition. The attending physician may recommend that the patient be treated by warming up, taking medications, rinsing, inhaling, hot foot baths, and surgery. Do not forget that during the course of treatment it is necessary to follow the dietary regimen and refuse the consumption of spicy and acidic foods, salt and spices, and also try to consume only warm drinks and dishes.
Alternative treatment for sore throat
In the fight against tickling in the throat, one should not neglect the recipes of traditional medicine. There are many effective folk remedies that can eliminate cough and discomfort. To eliminate the inflammatory process, gargling with infusions of herbs such as calendula, chamomile or sage is useful. A positive therapeutic effect is provided by an abundant intake of fluids, for example, tea with honey, healing infusions and decoctions, as well as warm milk.
For therapeutic purposes, both adults and children, you can use mint infusion. To do this, pour 20 g of the leaves of a medicinal plant into a thermos with a glass of boiled water and leave to infuse for half an hour. The resulting infusion must be rinsed 3 times during the day. If the patient is worried about coughing and perspiration, then you can resort to the help of an infusion of raspberry leaves and linden flowers. You can prepare the infusion in the same way as described in the previous version.
If a sore throat is accompanied by a runny nose, then inhalation will help eliminate the problem. To do this, you need 1 glass of boiled water, a spoonful of table salt and a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus oil, pour into a bowl, then cover with a towel and breathe in the healing steam. Several procedures will completely eliminate the pathological condition. Unpleasant sensations in the throat in the form of a tickling or burning sensation, which are accompanied by a cough, a runny nose and a number of other signs, should not be ignored. To exclude the likelihood of developing more severe pathological conditions, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible.
