First signs and help for dog poisoning

Poisoning occurs as a result of the ingestion of animal poison into the body. Unlike cats, dogs not picky about food, they like to try everything - this can cause an ailment. If the disorder is not treated, complications will begin that can lead to the death of the pet.

Symptoms of dog poisoning

There are two types of poisoning:

• food - the penetration of toxins into the animal's body;
• not food - through insect bites, n falling of toxins on wool / skin / mucous membranes, etc.

Symptoms for the disease depend on the species, often the dog suffers from:

• weakness;
• convulsive  reductions  muscle;
• big  quantity  drool;
• nausea;
• diarrhea;
• rapid breathing;
• depressed state.

After the penetration of the poison into the body, the symptoms appear in the shortest possible time and quickly worsen.

If you observe that at some point your pet starts to run and stagger a little, most likely he was poisoned with isoniazid (a medicine used in the treatment of tuberculosis). At the same time, the general state of health decreases. The dog loses appetite, suffers from vomiting, bloody foam comes out from the mouth. Unfortunately, the result of this disorder is a coma. Therefore, when the first symptoms appear, start treatment immediately.

Treatment for dog poisoning

Poisoning in dogs is a dangerous disorder that must be treated immediately.

If you are sure that the ailment is caused by poor-quality food, immediately induce vomiting, you can do this with the help of table salt, pouring it on the root of the tongue (1 teaspoon), do not raise the animal's head. Next, cleanse the pet's stomach with activated charcoal, milk or other adsorbents.

If no more than two hours have passed since the poisoning, you can help the dog with an enema. To do this, you need to prepare a saline solution (1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of water). The temperature of the liquid is not more than 30 degrees.

Further treatment is prescribed by the veterinarian. For example, if an animal is poisoned with rat poison, it needs to restore vitamin K. Also, in the veterinary clinic, an infusion of solutions such as glucose, trisol, etc. is carried out.

To prevent poisoning, follow some rules:

• wean the dog take food from someone else's hands or pick up sweets from the ground;
• to follow the pet while walking - use a short leash;
• if the animal continues to eat whatever it got, put on a muzzle;
• Provide your dog with a balanced diet.

What to do in case of poisoning of dogs in the first place

When the first signs of poisoning appear, it is necessary to induce vomiting in the pet. This can be done with salt, as mentioned above, or with a solution of hydrogen peroxide (in a 1: 1 ratio).

If the poison has entered the dog's body by an insect bite, apply ice to the affected area. If the animal is bitten by a snake, the poison must be immediately removed from the wound.

If chemicals come into contact with the animal's fur and skin, rinse the pet immediately. If your pet is poisoned by poisonous vapors, take him to fresh air.

If the dog has inhaled gasoline or turpentine, he needs to drink a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil, and after a while, use a laxative.
