Home Sănătate Why does hypertension occur?

disease, manifesting overpriced blood pressure is called hypertension. Not only older people, but also very young people can suffer from such a disease. We will tell you in this article what the causes of the disease are, how hypertension manifests itself and how to fight it.

What is hypertension

Another name for hypertension is arterial hypertension - sustained high blood pressure.

Causes of hypertension

The basic reason for the onset of the mentioned disease is frequent and prolonged psychological and nervous stress, regular stress. A prerequisite for illness is work activity, where a person is under sustained emotional stress. The risk of hypertension increases if you have previously suffered a concussion. Genetic predisposition also plays an important role in this matter; if someone in the family had hypertension, then the risks increase several times.

Another factor that provokes the disease is physical inactivity. Elderly people often suffer from atherosclerosis, natural age-related changes in blood vessels are noted, and the appearance of hypertension aggravates the problem and pushes atherosclerosis to progression. This phenomenon is very dangerous, since a serious spasm in the blood vessels inhibits the access of blood flow to the brain, heart and kidneys. If there are also plaques in the vessels, blood may completely stop flowing to these organs, which becomes the cause stroke and heart attack.

As for women exclusively, one of the causes of hypertension is the menopausal period, when hormonal changes are observed in the body. Factors that increase the risk of developing hypertension include smoking, drinking alcohol, eating too much salt, and being overweight.

So, the main causes of heart attack are:

  • Excess weight, which is explained by impaired metabolism, endocrine diseases and a sedentary lifestyle. Even seemingly insignificant deviations can become an impetus for the development of hypertension.
  • Constant and prolonged emotional stress, especially depressive states.
  • Strong nervous feelings related to business and work.
  • Previous head injuries: bruises, concussions, hypothermia.
  • Chronic diseases that affect the heart and blood vessels: diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
  • Hereditary factor. Often, if the problem is passed down through the family, hypertension can manifest itself very early.  1386100029_davlenie-pri-gipertonii
  • The consequences of certain infectious diseases, such as meningitis, sinusitis etc. may cause hypertension.
  • Vascular problems that often occur in older people.
  • A large amount of cholesterol in the blood, which causes the formation of plaques in the blood vessels.
  • Menopause in women.
  • A person has bad habits: heavy consumption of coffee, alcohol and tobacco.
  • Daily consumption of large amounts of salt.
  • Spending a long time in front of the computer.
  • Rapid increase in adrenaline in the blood.
  • Little exposure to fresh air.

All of the above seriously increases the risk of hypertension, and in some cases is a direct path to the development of the disease. Fortunately, a person can influence almost all of the factors mentioned and prevent their development, therefore, protect himself from high blood pressure.

Pressure for hypertension

Doctors distinguish three stages of the disease, these are:

  • Light, also known as the first, is characterized by a pressure level in the range of 140-159/90-99. No changes in the internal organs and their work are noted. The pressure rises from time to time, after which it normalizes without additional help.
  • Moderate, also known as the second, is characterized by a pressure level in the range of 160-179/100-109. The pressure rises to this level more often and the ability to lower it is only possible with the help of medications.
  • Severe, also known as the third - there is a steady increase in pressure at the level of 180/110 and above, in addition, the patient is diagnosed with pathologies of internal organs and systems, which seriously increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems.

Those suffering from hypertension sometimes experience a hypertensive crisis, which is explained by greatly increased blood pressure, and this in turn threatens vital organs and systems - the brain, kidneys and heart. The trigger for a crisis can be anything - physical activity, stress, or lack of medication.

A hypertensive crisis can be recognized by the following symptoms:

  • shortness of breath;
  • convulsive conditions;
  • pressing chest pain;
  • redness of mucous membranes and skin;
  • nausea, which can sometimes develop into vomiting;
  • severe pain in the head;
  • vision problems, up to temporary but complete loss of visual fields.

If a person has a hypertensive crisis before your eyes, urgently call an ambulance and stay with the patient until it arrives. Find out when the person last took medications that help lower blood pressure, and under no circumstances give increased doses of these medications in an attempt to lower blood pressure as quickly as possible. The price for such an act could be a person’s life!

A little higher we mentioned the stages of the disease, there are three of them: mild, moderate and severe. Let's add a little:

  • At the first stage, a person may not even suspect that he is sick, and attribute temporary changes in well-being to the influence of weather conditions. Because then the pressure drops on its own and everything returns to normal. Only the person himself can identify the disease if he regularly monitors his blood pressure and records the data.
  • The second stage is already becoming more noticeable and torments the person with constant headaches, a state of lethargy and weakness, and nausea. Increased blood pressure may not drop for a long time, and only in the rarest cases does it drop on its own; as a rule, only medications save the situation.
  • The third stage is the most dangerous, since in most patients the pressure rises very high and crosses the border of 180/110. But a sharp independent drop in blood pressure is often regarded by doctors as a heart failure and the patient may be referred to a cardiologist. At this stage, the disease can no longer be ignored.

Symptoms of hypertension

The main symptom of the onset of hypertension is pain in the head, which is explained by vascular spasms in the brain. There is tinnitus, the appearance of spots and blurred vision, a feeling of weakness in the body, problems sleeping, dizziness, a feeling of a “heavy” head, and an increased heart rate. All this can be noticed at the initial stage of the disease, so it is important to pay close attention to the state of your health in time if such symptoms make themselves felt from time to time. In more advanced stages, heart failure may occur, which is explained by heart fatigue.

Along with progressive hypertension, a person may experience a deterioration in visual acuity, problems with blood vessels in the brain, and this is already fraught with paralysis and a low level of sensitivity in the arms and legs, thrombosis and hemorrhage.

In cases of hypertension, the following cases are common:

  • nosebleeds;
  • swelling;
  • fatigue;
  • increased eye pressure (attempts to look around are accompanied by pain);
  • memory problems;
  • vomiting;
  • rapid heartbeat.

Treatment of hypertension

Prescribing medication is the task of an experienced and qualified specialist. We will provide a list of effective recipes from traditional medicine books that are good for hypertension.

  • Flaxseeds. A very simple and inexpensive recipe for hypertension, which is aimed at a positive effect on the body and normalization of cholesterol levels in the blood. For treatment and prevention, you need to eat three tablespoons of seeds per day, pre-ground in a coffee grinder. Add the product to salads, sandwiches and other dishes.
  • Another effective remedy for treating hypertension is a tincture with red cones. The strength of the drug has been proven even by the fact that the composition is used for a speedy recovery after a stroke. Taking the tincture helps to normalize blood circulation and restore motor activity, which is impaired in the case of partial paralysis. After just three days of regular use, there is a steady drop in blood pressure by twenty units and improves overall well-being. To prepare the tincture, you need cones collected during June-July. The raw materials are washed with running water and placed in liter containers, filled to the brim with vodka and sent to a dark place for three weeks. Before you start taking the mixture, you need to strain it. The fact that the tincture is prepared correctly will be indicated by its dark red color. The composition is taken half an hour before meals three times a day with a small spoon. You can mix the tincture with water or tea.  hypertension (2)
  • Garlic for hypertension. You need to prepare a tincture. A couple of garlic cloves are chopped and poured with a glass of water (boiled). Let stand for twelve hours. Drink a water tincture in the morning, after which a new one is prepared. The duration of treatment is a month, administration is carried out in the mornings and evenings.
  • Pour half a liter of sunflower seeds (you can use pumpkin seeds) into the pan, do not peel them, but rinse them thoroughly. The seeds should be raw, not roasted. Pour in one and a half liters of water and put on fire; when the mixture boils, put on low heat and keep for a couple of hours. Strain the finished broth and let it cool. Throughout the day you need to drink a glass of the prepared composition. This recipe quickly normalizes blood pressure and remains stable.
  • Combine a tablespoon of grated lemon with a tablespoon of cranberries and half a spoon of ground fresh rose hips. For convenience, everything can be twisted in a meat grinder. Add a glass of honey to the prepared mixture and mix. You need to take the product in the morning and evening, a large spoon.
  • To lower blood pressure, pour four large spoons of crushed plantain with a glass of vodka and leave for a couple of weeks in a place where there is no light. Strain the prepared product and drink three drops three times a day.
  • To normalize blood pressure, it is very useful to drink freshly squeezed juices of carrots, beets, celery, spinach, parsley, cucumber, and kiwi.

Remember that even traditional medicine has contraindications, so consult your doctor before taking it.

Tablets for hypertension

A wide range of medications of different types are used to treat hypertension. Each of the medications has a large list of contraindications and dosage. Such things should only be prescribed by a qualified specialist, based on the individual characteristics of the patient’s body. Never self-prescribe, especially in such serious cases. Contact your doctor, get examined and receive individual treatment.

Diet for hypertension

hypertension

In order for the main treatment to be as effective as possible, additional measures should be taken. For such purposes, the doctor may prescribe a special diet for hypertensive patients, the main recommendations of which are:

  • Don't feel hungry. Strict diets and fasting, which involve sharp restrictions on certain foods, are strictly contraindicated for hypertension.
  • It is important to increase the amount of potassium and magnesium in your diet. Both of these elements have a beneficial effect on the health of the heart and blood vessels, helping to strengthen them and increase endurance. Potassium and magnesium are found in dried apricots, carrots, cereals, and beets. There are a lot of them in seafood - low-fat varieties of fish, in seaweed.
  • Eat more fresh natural vegetables. Products containing a large amount of fiber help lower the amount of cholesterol in the blood and inhibit its absorption processes, but contribute to rapid and long-term saturation.
  • Eat less sugar. Fast carbohydrates are provocateurs of excess weight, so they should be kept to a minimum, or better yet, give them up altogether. Replace unhealthy sweets with dried fruits and whole grains.
  • Avoid excessive consumption of foods high in animal fat. You shouldn’t completely exclude them either, but you shouldn’t lean too heavily on them either.
  • Give preference to dietary meats so as not to provoke the formation of plaques in the blood vessels. Ideal would be: turkey, chicken and veal, which are steamed or stewed without oil. Try not to salt them too much, and even better, use herbs and lemon juice instead of salt.
  • Introduce fractional meals into your diet. Eat in smaller portions, but more often, six to seven times a day. Don’t overeat at night, and if you feel hungry, it’s better to drink a glass of kefir or snack on a fruit or vegetable.
  • Give up bad habits. There is no benefit to the body from them, but there is more than enough harm.
  • Switch from tea and coffee to herbs.
  • Eat less salt.

Prevention of hypertension

Despite the apparent complexity, preventing the disease is very simple. To do this, you only need to follow a few rules:

  • Control your weight. Nowadays people lose weight for beauty, but few people understand that, first of all, normal weight contributes to the health of the body. However, when trying to lose weight, you should not exhaust yourself with strict diets, which can lead to serious problems in the functioning of the body. Weight doesn’t come in one day and goes away the same way. Excess weight puts a lot of stress on the heart and in order to pump the required volume of blood you need to try harder. Working at a constant, intense rhythm cannot pass without leaving a trace.
  • Give up bad habits and eating junk food. This significantly increases the risk of developing not only hypertension, but also other serious diseases.
  • Control your psycho-emotional state. It is clear that it is simply impossible to avoid stress, but you can learn to control yourself and process negativity. Sign up for a gym, yoga, or some other place where you can pour out all the negativity and achieve harmony. Rest on time - you will do much more when you are healthy than when you are sick and infirm. Clearly allocate time for rest and work, and don’t think about the latter during your rest.
