What is hypertension
Another name for hypertension is arterial hypertension - persistent high blood pressure.
Hypertension causes
The basic reason for the onset of the mentioned disease is called frequent and prolonged psychological and nervous overstrain, regular stress... Labor activity, where a person is in stable emotional stress, becomes a prerequisite for illness. The risk of hypertension increases if you have previously suffered a concussion. Genetic predisposition in this matter also plays an important role, if someone in the family had hypertension, then the risks increase several times.
Another factor that provokes the disease is physical inactivity. Elderly people often suffer from atherosclerosis, natural age-related changes in blood vessels are noted, and the appearance of hypertension aggravates the problem and pushes atherosclerosis to progression. This phenomenon is very dangerous, since a serious spasm in the vessels inhibits the access of blood flow to the brain, heart and kidneys. If there are also plaques in the vessels, the blood may stop flowing to these organs altogether, which becomes the reason stroke and heart attack.
As for women exclusively, one of the causes of hypertension is the climacteric period, when hormonal changes are observed in the body. Factors that increase the risk of developing hypertension are smoking, alcohol consumption, excessive salt intake, and being overweight.
So, the main causes of a heart attack are called:
- Excess weight, which is explained by impaired metabolism, endocrine diseases and a sedentary lifestyle. Even insignificant, at first glance, deviations can become an impetus for the development of hypertension.
- Constant and long-term stress of an emotional nature, especially depressive states.
- Strong anxiety related to business and work.
- Previous head injuries: bruises, concussions, hypothermia.
- Diseases of a chronic nature that affect the heart and blood vessels: diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
- Hereditary factor. Often, if the problem is genus-specific, then hypertension can show up very early.
- The consequences of some infectious diseases, such as meningitis, sinusitis etc. can cause hypertension.
- Vascular problems that often occur in older people.
- A large amount of cholesterol in the blood, which causes the formation of plaque in the blood vessels.
- Menopause in women.
- The presence of bad habits in a person: heavy consumption of coffee, alcohol and tobacco.
- Daily intake of large amounts of salt.
- Long time spent in front of the computer.
- Rapid rise in adrenaline in the blood.
- Small outdoor exposure.
All of the above seriously increases the risk of hypertension, and in some cases is a direct road to the development of the disease. Fortunately, a person can influence almost all of the above factors and prevent their development, therefore, protect themselves from high pressure.
Hypertension pressure
Doctors distinguish between three stages of the disease, these are:
- Light, she is the first - characterized by a pressure level in the range of 140-159 / 90-99. There are no changes in the internal organs and their work. The pressure rises from time to time, after which it returns to normal without additional help.
- Moderate, it is also the second - characterized by a pressure level in the range of 160-179 / 100-109. The pressure to this state rises more often and the ability to lower it is allowed only with the help of medication.
- Severe, it is the third - there is a steady increase in pressure at the level of 180/110 and above, in addition, the patient is diagnosed with pathologies of internal organs and systems, which seriously increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems.
Suffering from hypertension, at times, there is a hypertensive crisis, which is explained by severely high blood pressure, and this, in turn, threatens vital organs and systems - the brain, kidneys and heart. Crisis provocateurs can be anything - physical activity, stress or lack of medication.
You can recognize a hypertensive crisis by the following symptoms:
- dyspnea;
- convulsive conditions;
- pressing chest pain;
- redness of the mucous membranes and skin;
- nausea, which can sometimes develop into vomiting;
- severe pain in the head;
- vision problems, up to temporary, but complete loss of visual fields.
If a person has a hypertensive crisis in front of your eyes, urgently call an ambulance and stay next to the patient before it arrives. Check when the person last drank blood pressure medications and never give higher doses of these medications in an attempt to lower blood pressure as soon as possible. The price of such an act can be a person's life!
Hypertension stages
A little above, we mentioned the stages of the disease, there are three of them: mild, moderate and severe. Let's add a little:
- At the first stage, a person may not even suspect that he is sick, and may attribute temporary changes in well-being to the influence of weather conditions. Since then the pressure drops by itself and everything returns to normal. Only the person himself can identify the disease if he regularly monitors the state of his pressure and records the data.
- The second stage is already becoming more noticeable and torments the person with constant headaches, a state of lethargy and weakness, and nausea. The increased pressure may not fall for a long time, and only in the most rare cases it drops by itself, as a rule, only medications save the situation.
- The third stage is the most dangerous, since in most patients the pressure rises very high and crosses the border of 180/110. But a sharp independent drop in pressure is often regarded by doctors as a cardiac failure and the patient can be referred to a cardiologist. At this stage, the disease can no longer be ignored.
Hypertension symptoms
The main symptomatology of the onset of hypertension is considered to be headache, which is explained by vasospasm in the brain. The appearance of noise in the ears, the appearance of flies and veils before the eyes, a feeling of weakness in the body, sleep problems, dizziness, a feeling of a "heavy" head, increased heart rate. All this can be noticed at the initial stage of the disease, so it is important to pay close attention to the state of your health in time, if such symptoms sometimes make themselves felt. In more advanced stages, heart failure may occur, which is explained by heart fatigue.
Together with progressive hypertension, a person may feel a deterioration in visual acuity, problems with the vessels of the brain, and this is already fraught with paralysis and a low level of sensitivity in the arms and legs, thrombosis and hemorrhage.
With hypertension, there are frequent cases:
- nosebleeds;
- swelling;
- rapid fatigue;
- an increase in eye pressure (attempts to look around are accompanied by pain);
- memory problems;
- vomiting;
- rapid heartbeat.
Hypertension treatment
Prescribing drug treatment is the task of an experienced and qualified specialist. We give a list of effective recipes from books of traditional medicine that are good for hypertension.
- Flaxseeds... A very simple and inexpensive recipe for hypertension, which is aimed at a positive effect on the body and normalizing blood cholesterol levels. For treatment and prevention, you need to eat three tablespoons of seeds per day, previously ground in a coffee grinder. Add the product to salads, sandwiches and other dishes.
- Another effective remedy for the treatment of hypertension is tincture with red bumps. The strength of the drug is proven even by the fact that the composition is used for the early recovery of the state after a stroke. Reception of the tincture helps to normalize blood circulation, restore motor activity, which is disturbed in the case of partial paralysis. Already after three days of regular intake, a steady drop in pressure of twenty units is observed and improves overall well-being. To prepare the tincture, you need cones collected during the period from June to July. The raw materials are washed with running water and placed in a liter container, poured to the brim with vodka and sent to a dark place for three weeks. Before starting the intake, the composition must be filtered. The fact that the tincture is prepared correctly will be indicated by its dark red color. The composition is taken half an hour before meals three times a day, a small spoonful. You can mix the tincture with water or tea.
- Garlic for hypertension. It is necessary to prepare a tincture. A couple of garlic cloves are chopped and poured with a glass of water (boiled). Let stand for twelve hours. Drink an aqueous tincture in the morning, after which a new one is prepared. The duration of treatment is a month, the reception is made in the morning and evening.
- Pour half a liter of sunflower seeds into a saucepan (you can use pumpkin seeds), do not peel them, but rinse thoroughly. The seeds should be raw, not roasted. Pour one and a half liters of water and put on fire, as the composition boils, put on low heat and hold for a couple of hours. Decant the finished broth and let it cool. Throughout the day, you need to drink a glass of the prepared composition. From such a recipe, the pressure is quickly normalized and kept stable.
- A tablespoon of grated lemon, combine with a tablespoon of cranberries, half a spoon of ground fresh rose hips. For convenience, everything can be twisted in a meat grinder. Add a glass of honey to the prepared composition and stir. You need to take the remedy in the morning and in the evening for a large spoon.
- To relieve blood pressure, pour four large tablespoons of chopped plantain with a glass of vodka and leave for a couple of weeks in a place where there is no light. Express the prepared product and drink three drops three times a day.
- To normalize blood pressure, it is very useful to drink freshly squeezed juices of carrots, beets, celery, spinach, parsley, cucumber, kiwi.
Remember that even traditional medicine has contraindications, so consult your doctor before taking it.
Hypertension pills
For the treatment of hypertension, a wide range of medications of various types are used. Each of the medicines has a large list of contraindications and dosage. Such things should be prescribed only by a qualified specialist, based on the individual characteristics of the patient's body. Never self-assign, especially in such severe cases. See a doctor, get tested and receive individual treatment.
Diet for hypertension
In order for the main treatment to be as effective as possible, additional measures should be taken. For such purposes, the doctor can prescribe a special diet for hypertensive patients, the main recommendations of which are:
- Don't feel hungry. Strict diets and fasts, which imply a sharp restriction on certain foods, are strictly contraindicated in hypertension.
- It is important to increase the amount of potassium and magnesium in your diet. Both of these elements have a beneficial effect on the health of the heart and blood vessels, contribute to their strengthening and increase endurance. Potassium and magnesium are found in dried apricots, carrots, cereals, beets. There are many of them in seafood - low-fat varieties of fish, in seaweed.
- Eat more fresh, natural vegetables. Foods where a large amount of fiber is noted help to lower the amount of cholesterol in the blood and inhibit the processes of its absorption, but contribute to rapid and long-term saturation.
- Eat less sugar. Fast carbohydrates are provocateurs of excess weight, so they should be minimized, and it is best to give them up altogether. Replace unhealthy sweets with dried fruits and whole grains.
- Avoid excessive consumption of foods high in animal fat. They should not be completely excluded either, but in no case should you overload.
- Give preference to dietary meats so as not to provoke the formation of plaques in the vessels. Ideal will be: meat of turkey, chicken and veal, which are steamed or stewed without oil. Try not to salt them abundantly, and even better, instead of salt, use herbs and lemon juice.
- Introduce fractional meals into your diet. Eat in smaller portions, but more often, six to seven times a day. Do not fill up at night, and if you feel hungry, it is better to use a glass of kefir or have a snack with a fruit or vegetable.
- Give up bad habits. There is no benefit to the body from them, but there is more than enough harm.
- Move from tea and coffee to herbs.
- Eat less salt.
Prevention of hypertension
Despite the seeming complexity, it is very simple to ensure the prevention of the disease. To do this, you need to follow only a few rules:
- Control your weight. Now people are losing weight for beauty, but few people understand that, first of all, a normal weight contributes to the health of the body. However, in trying to lose weight, you cannot exhaust yourself with rigid diets, which can lead to serious problems in the body. Weight does not come overnight and goes away the same way. Excess weight puts a strong strain on the heart and in order to pump the required volume of blood, you need to try harder. Work in a constant, intensified rhythm cannot pass without leaving a trace.
- Give up bad habits and junk food. This significantly increases the risk of developing not only hypertension, but also other serious diseases.
- Control your psycho-emotional state. It is clear that avoiding stress is simply impossible, but in your power learn to control yourself and recycle the negative. Sign up for a gym, yoga or other place where you can pour out all the negativity and achieve harmony. Rest in time - you will do much more work healthy than sick and weak. Allocate clear time for rest and work, and do not think about the latter during rest.
