Application of glycerin
Glycerin has found wide application in many different areas of human life. It is used in the food industry, in the production of cigarettes and other tobacco products, and is widely used for cosmetic purposes and in medicine. Let's take a closer look at the last two areas of its use.

Application of glycerin
This substance is a liquid substance that is colorless and odorless. Glycerin has a slightly sweet taste. This was the reason to give glycerin this name. From Latin it is translated as “sweet”.
Glycerin has antiseptic properties and can be used as a preservative and moisturizer. More precisely, glycerin can absorb moisture from tissues and the surrounding air. The latter property has long given reason to think that glycerin can provoke the formation of wrinkles on the skin, as it draws moisture from the deep layers of the dermis. But at the same time, this moisture moves to the surface of the skin. In addition, glycerin absorbs water vapor from the air and delivers it to the skin. If you drink enough liquid, the lower layers of your skin will have time to become saturated with water. Therefore, reasonable use of glycerin will not lead to unpleasant consequences.
Glycerin for hair
Women who regularly use homemade hair recipes with glycerin note its effectiveness. In most cases, after using a course of procedures with this drug hair look much better:
- They become shiny and obedient, easy to style and do not fray.
- Hair don't tangle after washing even without using balm.
- The effect of static electricity disappears.
- Strand growth accelerates.
- There is active hydration of the hair and scalp.
- Dandruff disappears.
Homemade glycerin-based hair products can be used by fair-haired women. The fact is that glycerin tends to lighten hair. If you do not plan to lighten your hair, then this effect may be undesirable. To make a homemade mask with glycerin more active, warm the ingredients a little before mixing. Pour glycerin into the mask as the last ingredient on the list. It is best to do this immediately before application.
Glycerin for the body
Products with glycerin are beneficial not only for curls and for the face. It can also be used for the skin of the entire body. It perfectly softens the skin and moisturizes it. Therefore, use this substance on those places where there is peeling and the skin needs to be slightly treated, for example, to heal cracks or scratches.
Glycerin helps deal with rough skin on the heels, especially if cracks have already appeared on them. Before going to bed, steam your feet in a hot bath and generously spread the cream to which you have previously added a spoonful of glycerin. After this, put cotton socks on your feet and go to bed. After a week, you will see how soft and well-groomed the skin on your feet has become. The cracks will heal without irritation and pain. Cream with glycerin is used to lubricate rough skin on the elbows and knees, soften the cuticles on nails and apply to flaky skin of the body.
Glycerin for hands
The positive properties of glycerin mean that it is often added to home baths and masks for the skin on the hands. They are prepared quickly, and the effect of their use is very long-lasting.
A mask is often made from crushed potatoes for the skin of the hands. Boil and cool one medium-sized potato. Then mash it well, add a teaspoon of glycerin to the resulting puree and stir well. Spread this mixture on your hands and wrap them with film, and on top with a warm cloth. Keep this mask for half an hour.
Another mask includes in the list of products half a teaspoon of glycerin and two large spoons of any milk-based product. Add another teaspoon of honey to this mixture and mix well. Apply the composition to your hands for thirty minutes.
If you want to make a glycerin bath for your hands, then heat half a liter of water, pour in a tablespoon of glycerin and two tablespoons of potato starch. Mix everything well and dip the brushes into the liquid until the water cools.
Glycerin inside
In some cases, glycerin is used for medical purposes. Moreover, for internal, not external use. For example, when combined with honey and lemon, glycerin can be used to treat coughs.
After eye surgery and glaucoma, glycerin is used orally to reduce intraocular pressure. If you adhere to the recommended dosage, glycerin can reduce the vitreous body. Considering that this substance has virtually no side effects, its use has an important advantage over other means.
I often use glycerin in neurology. According to experts, glycerin in the correct dosage reduces brain swelling and eliminates the signs and symptoms of stroke. It is worth considering that glycerin can be used for this purpose only as a last resort. After all, there are other more affordable and easy-to-use drugs that are more appropriate in such a situation than regular glycerin.
