The use of glycerin
Glycerin has found wide application in very different areas of human life. It is used in the food industry, in the production of cigarettes and other tobacco products, and is widely used for cosmetic purposes and in medicine. Let's take a closer look at the last two areas of its use.
The use of glycerin
This substance is a colorless and odorless liquid substance. Glycerin has a slightly sweet taste. This was the reason to give this name to glycerin. From Latin it is translated as "sweet".
Glycerin is antiseptic and can be used as a preservative and moisturizer. More specifically, glycerin can absorb moisture from tissues and the surrounding air. The latter property has long given reason to think that glycerin can provoke the formation of wrinkles on the skin, as it draws moisture from the deep layers of the dermis. But at the same time, this moisture moves to the surface of the skin. In addition, glycerin absorbs water vapor from the air and delivers it to the skin. If at the same time you drink a sufficient amount of liquid, then the lower layers of the skin will have time to get saturated with water. Therefore, the judicious use of glycerin will not entail unpleasant consequences.
Glycerin for hair
Women who regularly use homemade hair recipes with glycerin report its effectiveness. In most cases, after applying a course of procedures with this drug hair look much better:
- They become shiny and obedient, easy to style and do not crumble.
- Hair do not get confused after washing, even without using a balm.
- The effect of static electricity disappears.
- The growth of the strands is accelerated.
- Active moisturizing occurs themselves hair and scalp.
- Dandruff disappears.
Glycerin-based home remedies can be used by blonde women. The fact is that glycerin tends to lighten hair. If you do not plan to lighten, then this effect may be undesirable. To make the homemade glycerin mask more active, warm up the ingredients a little before mixing. Pour glycerin into the mask as the last ingredient on the list. It is best to do this just before application.
Body glycerin
Products with glycerin are beneficial not only for curls and for the face. It can be used on the whole body as well. It perfectly softens the skin and moisturizes it. Therefore, use this substance on places where there is peeling and the skin needs to be slightly healed, for example, to heal cracks or scratches.
Glycerin can help fight rough skin on your heels, especially if they are already cracked. Before going to bed, steam your legs in a hot bath and spread generously with cream, in which you previously added a spoonful of glycerin. After that, put on cotton socks on your feet and go to bed. After a week, you will see how soft and well-groomed the skin on the feet has become. The cracks will heal without irritation or pain. Cream with glycerin lubricate the rough skin on the elbows and knees, soften the cuticles on nails and applied to flaky skin of the body.
Glycerin for hands
The positive properties of glycerin have led to the fact that it is often added to home baths and masks for the skin on the hands. They are prepared quickly, and the effect of their use is very long-lasting.
Often they make a mask of crushed potatoes for the skin of the hands. Boil and cool one medium potato. Then mash it well, add a teaspoon of glycerin to the resulting puree and stir well. Spread this composition on your hands and wrap them with a film, and on top of it with a warm cloth. Keep this mask for half an hour.
Another mask includes half a teaspoon of glycerin and two large spoons of any milk-based product on the grocery list. Add another teaspoon of honey to this composition and mix well. Apply the composition to your hands for thirty minutes.
If you want to make a glycerin hand bath, heat half a liter of water, pour in a tablespoon of glycerin and two tablespoons of potato starch. Mix everything well and dip the brushes in the liquid until the water cools.
Glycerin inside
In some cases, glycerin is used for medicinal purposes. Moreover, for internal, not external use. For example, in combination with honey and lemon, glycerin can be used to treat coughs.
After eye surgery and glaucoma, glycerin is used orally to reduce intraocular pressure. If you adhere to the recommended dosage, then glycerin can reduce the vitreous humor. Considering that this substance practically does not give side effects, its use has an important advantage in comparison with other means.
I often use glycerin in neurology. According to experts, glycerin in the correct dosage reduces cerebral edema and eliminates the signs and symptoms of stroke. It is worth considering that using glycerin for such a purpose is possible only as a last resort. After all, there are other more affordable and easy-to-use drugs that are more relevant in such a situation than ordinary glycerin.
