When teeth start to cut
There is no specific period for the eruption of the first teeth. It all depends on the individual condition of the baby. Someone gets their first teeth earlier, someone much later than average. According to observations, it can be noted that girls are ahead of boys in terms of the appearance of teeth. According to the average statistical data, teeth erupt at this age:
Usually, the first tooth appears between 8 and 9 months of life... Be that as it may, and by their first birthday, every baby will have at least one tooth. By the age of three, all milk teeth will come out.
Many mothers note that their babies' teeth erupt two at a time. Don't worry - this is completely normal. True, the baby may be more restless than usual. Don't worry if your teeth grow in a different order. This does not mean any deviations, just the child develops at his own pace.
How to understand that teeth are being cut
Despite the fact that friends and relatives may tell you stories from their experiences about the terrible agony that befalls a child and parents during teething, do not rush to believe everything you hear. Yes, some kids get restless and moody. But this does not mean that the same is waiting for you. In many children, teeth appear completely invisible to their parents.
Still, you should pay attention to the baby's condition if you notice the following symptoms:
- The very first sign of imminent teething is profuse salivation. It can last for several weeks. So stock up on extra bibs and napkins for this period.
- Often, due to drooling, the skin around the mouth begins to irritate the skin, it may even become covered with crusts. To alleviate the condition of the child, wipe the saliva with careful blotting movements, and lubricate the skin around the mouth with a special ointment. It is best to do this before bed to help the remedy work better.
- During this period, the child has a desire to chew on something in order to scratch the gums and relieve pain.
- It has been noticed that babies become restless during teething, sleep poorly. This is due to the fact that the growth of teeth is more intense at night.
- Some children have fever and diarrhea. With such symptoms, it is important to correctly determine the cause of the high temperature and exclude the development of infection.
Gums when teeth are being cut
Usually, it is possible to understand that the baby will soon have the first teeth due to the condition of the gums. They become inflamed and loose. This is a consequence of the fact that a hard tooth breaks through the soft tissue of the gums, it swells and becomes inflamed. At this time, the baby pulls everything into his mouth to scratch his gums.
Then light bumps appear on the gums, saying that it is here that the first tooth will come out. In a few days, an attentive parent will be able to distinguish a thin strip of a new tooth in the place of the tubercle. And after a while, the tooth itself appears.
Teeth temperature
An increase in body temperature during teething in babies is not at all rare. The child becomes moody falls asleep badly and refuses food. It should be borne in mind that even if the temperature rises, it is insignificant - up to 37.5 degrees. If, at the same time, the baby does not have a cough and reddening of the throat, then this condition can be attributed to the symptoms of teething. Otherwise, the presence of a respiratory illness is quite possible, and the child should be shown to the doctor as soon as possible.
Often, a profuse flow of saliva, combined with an increase in temperature, indicates the presence of an infection. Disease and teething may well accompany each other.
If, however, the temperature is moderately high and not other signs of infection, then you need to try to alleviate the baby's condition:
- First, give your baby some fresh air - just ventilate the room where the baby is spending time.
- Give your child plenty of warm liquid to help them feel better. It is best to give the crumbs dried fruit compote.
- Humidify the air in the child's room. This can be done with special humidifiers or simply by hanging wet towels around the room. Humid air will prevent the baby's mucous membranes from drying out.
- With the permission of the pediatrician, you can give the child paracetamol before bedtime to alleviate his condition a little.
- If the child does not eat well, do not force him. Otherwise, he will become even more capricious.
The child has itchy gums - what to do
Of course, it is impossible to completely relieve a child of the discomfort during teething. But you can try to alleviate his condition.
The best thing relieves pain gums are cold. Therefore, buy a special cooling teether for your baby. This is a small toy that the baby can chew on. It can be put in the cold for a while and given to the child. The cold will relieve the pain to some extent and distract the baby. For the same purpose, you can feed the child with cold fruit puree or cottage cheese.
Do not give your child crackers or bagels - he may choke on the crumbs. Sugar lumps and hard objects can damage and infect the delicate gums of babies, so avoid them as well.
Well relieves pain in the gums lotions from a decoction of chamomile. Brew some chamomile flowers, strain and soak a napkin in the broth. When your child's gums hurt again, place this tissue on his gums.
To reduce pain, lubricate the baby's gums with a special gel or ointment. Most often, pediatricians advise using the drug Kalgel, Dentinol, Kamistad, Cholisal and others in this case. These remedies relieve pain, reduce swelling, and relieve inflammation. This gel can be used to lubricate a child's gums several times a day. But do not use cooling gels all the time. They are recommended only if the child is very naughty, and other methods do not help him.
