Sudden pressure surges - what could be the reasons?
Not only older people, but also young people are increasingly suffering from sudden changes in blood pressure. Such surges can be quite dangerous: a sharp increase in pressure can lead to heart attack or stroke. In addition, the person becomes severely unwell and performance is significantly reduced. Therefore, it is very important to promptly identify the causes of such changes and take measures to correct the pressure.

Causes of sudden surges in pressure
Pressure surges can be caused by a number of reasons:
- Severe stimulation of the nerve centers due to constant tension, overwork, stressful situations or depression.
- Vegetovascular dystonia. This disease often occurs even in young and relatively healthy people. It can also provoke sudden surges in pressure.
- Changes in atmospheric pressure. If a person is weather sensitive, weather conditions have a very strong impact on his well-being.

- Abuse of bad habits. Such excesses lead to loss of vascular tone, which cannot but affect blood pressure.
- Improper diet and poor digestion. Blood pressure can change greatly even when eating a lot of sweets. A separate risk group consists of women who are on strict diets, as well as those who are obese. Regularity of meals is also important: to keep your blood pressure normal, you should not skip homemade breakfasts, overload your body with snacks on the go, or take long breaks from eating.
- Disruption of the endocrine system in women. Basically, blood pressure can fluctuate during puberty and menopause.
- Heart failure. During this disease, blood flow is reduced, so blood pressure can drop very quickly.
In addition, sudden surges in blood pressure can be caused by the use of certain medications. For example, blood pressure may increase from the use of contraceptives, anti-inflammatory drugs, or cold drops. Antibiotics and some heart medications, on the contrary, can lower blood pressure.
How to normalize blood pressure
If a person is prone to severe pressure changes, you need to adhere to certain rules:
- You should not make sudden movements. You need to be careful when getting out of bed or just turning around.
- Walking in the fresh air, as well as good sleep, are of great importance.
- Physical activity also plays an important role. Light sports such as cycling, aerobics, swimming, and morning jogging are very useful. Such loads are not too heavy for the body, but they help maintain blood vessels in good shape.
- It’s good if you can do it in the morning massage. Do it towards the heart with soft circular movements.
- An excellent remedy for pressure changes is a contrast shower. As for hot baths, it is better to avoid them, as well as long stays in a bathhouse or sauna.
Particular attention must be paid to the diet. You should refrain from dieting; it is always a big burden for the body. It is also necessary to limit the consumption of sugar and salt, which retain fluid in the body.
As for liquid, you need to drink at least two liters a day. Let it not be coffee or strong tea, but juices, fruit drinks, herbal infusions or clean drinking water.
Finally, you should give up cigarettes and alcohol. Learn to cope with emotions and deal more calmly with unusual situations. Auto-training and soothing teas will be good helpers in this.
How to treat blood pressure
If severe pressure changes occur quite often, you need to visit a doctor. Most likely, you will be prescribed a comprehensive examination: a consultation with a neurologist, cardiologist, or ophthalmologist may be necessary. Based on the diagnosis, treatment is prescribed.
If blood pressure is high, sedatives are often prescribed. In addition, diuretics are sometimes beneficial: by reducing the volume of fluid in the circulatory system, the pressure decreases. If high blood pressure is combined with heart pain, use validol or corvalol.
For low blood pressure, medications containing caffeine are mainly prescribed: citramon, askofen, caffeine. Sedatives are also prescribed.
It is difficult to say which is worse – low or high blood pressure. Both can negatively affect your health, so timely pressure adjustment is necessary.
