Periods- the process during which the uterus, getting rid of excess fluid, begins to contract and increase in size, which leads to unpleasant sensations in the abdomen. Also, the cause of pain can be:

  • inflammation female organs;
  • various neoplasms (fibroids, cysts, nodes);
  • use of contraceptives;
  • abortion and other surgical operations;

The frequency of uterine contractions during menstruation is affected by the hormone prostaglandin. Its excessive amount in the body is the reason lower abdominal pain.

If there is pain in the abdominal area at the beginning of the formation of the cycle, then medical workers in most cases do not attach much importance to this. The examination is appointed if the cycle is established, and the pain has not passed.

Why is nauseous during menstruation

Nausea during the menstrual cycle is caused by hormonal imbalances. Excessive production of prostaglandins and serotonin leads to these unpleasant sensations. Prostaglandin in a woman's body affects not only uterine contraction, but also the nervous system. This leads to inadequate gastric acid production and nausea. Serotonin affects the removal of fluid from the body. Excessive production of it leads to swelling in the skull, which causes nausea and dizziness.

Another reason for the appearance of nausea during menstruation is the incorrect position of the uterus. In this case, she can squeeze the nerve endings, which leads to vomiting.

Oral contraceptives or the use of tampons can often cause discomfort.
