Types of facial scrubs depending on skin types
The correct selection of any cosmetic product should take into account your skin type. Check out the table below and find yours based on the description.
Scrub for dry skin
- Mix a spoonful of ground dry almonds with a couple of spoons of liquid honey. Pour half a teaspoon of cream and a couple of drops of lemon juice into the same mixture. Mix everything and apply to your face with massage movements. The scrub must be washed off with cool water.
- Grind the dry peels of any citrus fruit. Combine the resulting crumbs with cottage cheese and a drop of milk. Rub the mixture into the skin for five minutes.
- Almond crumbs can be mixed with eggs and natural honey. Apply to the face like a regular scrub for 5 minutes.
- Combine olive and castor oils in a bowl, adding salt. Apply the mixture to your face along the massage lines.
- Add a couple of spoons of liquid honey and almond oil to a tablespoon of oatmeal. Mix everything thoroughly and apply to your face.
Scrub for oily skin
- Combine brown sugar with fresh milk in a 1:1 ratio. The mass should be very thick so that the sugar does not dissolve. Without pressing, apply the mixture onto your face with light movements and massage for several minutes.
- Melt a couple of spoons of honey in a water bath. As soon as the beekeeping product becomes fluid, add a little lemon juice and a couple of spoons of fresh bran to it. Mix thoroughly and apply to skin.
- Combine sea salt and lemon juice in equal proportions. Massage the skin with the resulting mixture for a couple of minutes.
- Lather your face generously with baby soap. As soon as your whole face is in foam, take granulated sugar in your hands and, with gentle movements, begin to rub it into the skin. After two minutes, rinse off the composition.
- Mix 1/4 of the dry yeast with lemon juice and rolled oatmeal. If the paste turns out to be too thick, you need to dilute it with water.
You need to rub the scrub into the skin very gently and carefully. Otherwise, the skin reaction can be unpredictable, from deep furrows to the appearance of spider veins. With strong aggressive influence, delicate capillaries can burst, appearing on the surface in the form of bright spots, swelling and bruises.
Scrub for combination face
- Wash the avocado and cut it in half to remove the pit. Rub the resulting slice, right with the skin, on a fine grater. Start massaging the resulting paste onto your face. The composition will be very gentle, but the scrubbing effect is excellent.
- Combine grated orange peel with a spoonful of flour or starch. To make the mixture a little thinner, you can add lemon or orange juice.
- Cut the green apple in half. Start moving one of the lobes over your face. Do not wash off the juice immediately; let the apple juice sit on your face for a while. The effectiveness of such a scrub is due to the presence of acid in the fruit, which “corrodes” the keratinized particles of the epidermis.
- Mash a small amount of raspberries or other berries with many small seeds with a fork. Use the resulting mixture to massage your face along the massage lines for 5 minutes.
- Combine oatmeal with 5 grapes. Wait a little for the mass to swell. Massage the mixture onto your face for several minutes.
Facial scrub for blackheads
- Mix three tablespoons of honey, heated in a water bath, with one spoon of ground cinnamon. Apply a homogeneous mass to your previously steamed face. You need to massage the skin gently, in a circular motion. At the end of the procedure, leave the mixture on your face for a few minutes, then remove with warm water.
- Combine fresh natural yoghurt (4 tbsp) with a spoon of salt, honey and lemon juice. Mix everything thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous composition. Apply to face with massage movements, paying special attention to the T-zone.
- Combine 1/4 bag of black clay with crushed dry orange peel and a couple of tablespoons of oatmeal. Pour a little water into the mixture to obtain the consistency of a thick paste. The paste is applied and massaged all over the face and neck.
- Mix ground pepper and full-fat cottage cheese in equal proportions. Rub the mixture thoroughly and apply to problem areas of the face with massaging movements.
- Brew green tea. As soon as it is ready, tear the bag (or catch the tea leaves if the tea was loose) and rub the contents onto your previously cleansed face.
Scrub for problem skin
- Combine dry oatmeal with rice flour. Stir the mixture and pour a small amount of kefir over it. Apply the resulting mixture to your face using circular movements.
- Pour almond oil over a mixture of liquid honey and strawberry pulp. Apply to your face using gentle circular movements, paying special attention to problem areas.
- Combine granulated sugar with olive oil to form a thick paste. The latter needs to treat the skin of the face, but without zeal, so as not to injure it.
- In one bowl, combine the following ingredients: lemon juice, natural yogurt, olive oil, dry yeast. The composition should be treated with facial skin for several minutes.
- Mix the currants crushed with a fork with flour in equal proportions. Add heavily ground walnuts to the mixture and pour cream into the mixture until a thick paste forms.
- Grate an apple, preferably green, on a fine grater, add banana pulp, honey and ground rolled oats to the puree. To make the mixture more convenient to use, pour in a little heavy cream.
Scrub for sensitive skin
- Brew a small amount of green tea. After it has cooled, add sugar to it in such an amount that the latter does not dissolve. It is advisable to pour in a little liquid honey. Mix thoroughly and massage your face in circular motions for 4-5 minutes.
- Mix coconut oil, previously melted in a water bath, with sugar and lemon juice (a few drops). Actively mix the mixture and treat the entire face with the finished composition.
- Pour sugar into one beaten egg and add honey until you obtain a medium-thick consistency. Massage the prepared porridge onto your face and then leave it on the skin for about 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
- Grind the rolled oats in a mortar. Add soda to the fine crumbs, in the same proportion as the porridge, and dilute the composition with a small amount of water. Apply the resulting mass to problem areas of the facial skin.
- Grind the egg shells as finely as possible. Add chopped yolk and half a spoonful of flour to the egg crumbs. Mix the mixture thoroughly and add sour cream to it to form a dense mass. Using circular movements, distribute the scrub over your entire face.
- Combine ground oatmeal with salt in equal proportions. For ease of application, you can dilute the mixture either with water or any base oil, such as olive. Apply to face like a regular scrub.
What is the difference between peeling and facial scrub?
A scrub is a superficial effect on the epidermis aimed at removing dead particles of the epithelium. For scrubbing, both purchased and homemade products are used, prepared on the basis of hard and soft abrasives, depending on the skin type. Regular use of the scrub helps to avoid peeling of the skin, the appearance of blackheads and acne, as well as other pollution.
Peeling is considered a more aggressive effect on the skin and is aimed at cleansing deep layers skin. Proper peeling is carried out exclusively in beauty salons and cosmetology centers by a professional. With the help of peeling, you can significantly improve the condition of the skin, eliminating not only blackheads, but also acne, pigmentation, freckles and even small scars.
Peeling is carried out using chemicals. As a rule, the composition of the preparations includes fruit acids. Can cause strong allergic reactions, so before the procedure it is necessary to conduct a test to identify them.
Peeling is contraindicated for people with sensitive skin, for the area around the eyes, as well as for serious skin diseases. Otherwise, there is a risk of severe swelling.
Which is better: scrub or peeling?
Since the effect of both procedures is very similar, it is difficult to judge which is better. However, if we compare the degree of impact, then the palm can be given to peeling. It acts evenly and does not leave scratches or injuries on the skin like a scrub.
In general, it is customary to combine procedures together as a full-fledged complex. That is, scrubbing is carried out first, and then they immediately begin to work with peeling.
Effects of a facial scrub
The effectiveness of the scrub should not be assessed immediately, but after the course, about a month. Therefore, let’s evaluate the results that are obtained after regular scrub procedures.
- The number of acne and inflammation decreases.
- The tone of the face is evened out.
- Pigment spots become less noticeable.
- The skin stops peeling, becoming soft and velvety.
- Pores are cleansed and narrowed.
- The face becomes more elastic and fit.
The scrub has a wide range of applications and can be used not only on the face, but also on the body. Removing dead epithelial particles allows you to keep your skin young and healthy for a long time. However, aggressive effects require subsequent moisturizing. Therefore, do not forget to apply it to your face after scrubbing. the cream that suits you.
Moisturizing facial scrub
- Mix a teaspoon of honey with the same amount of oatmeal. Add some lemon juice to the mixture. Actively mix the composition and distribute in a circular motion over the face.
- Mix ground oatmeal with blue clay and dilute the composition with any base oil. Mix thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is formed and apply with massage movements to the face.
- Combine calendula, chamomile and sage in a bowl. Pour the dry herb mixture with a small amount of natural live beer. Use the mixture to gently massage problem areas of the skin for about two minutes.
You can add essential oils that suit your skin type to any of the scrubs at your discretion. Do not forget to dilute the esters in base oils before doing this, since in their pure form they can cause severe burns and irritation.
Whitening facial scrub
- A couple of spoons of ground parsley are mixed with a teaspoon of salt. Leave the mixture to sit for a little while to release the juice. You need to massage the skin directly with the juice for 2-3 minutes.
- Four large spoons of natural fresh yogurt must be combined with a spoon of honey melted in a water bath and a couple of spoons of lemon juice. Mix everything vigorously. Apply the resulting mixture to your face for 5 minutes and rinse. If the scrub turns out to be too liquid, you can add a thickener (flour) to it.
The advantage of skin whitening with a scrub is that it acts much deeper than the same mask or lotion. Pigment destruction occurs in the deeper layers of the skin, where conventional products simply cannot penetrate.
Evening facial scrub
A leveling scrub is not prepared at home, but is purchased in specialized or simply cosmetic stores. The scrub from the SPA SWEDISH series from Oriflame is very popular among women.
It perfectly evens out the skin texture and makes its color even. Combats minor imperfections such as blackheads and pimples. Removes dead epithelial particles, improves blood circulation and provides deep cleansing.
Immortel from Exfoliant also belongs to smoothing scrubs.
It is a mild remedy, but at the same time very effective. Fills the skin with freshness and gives it an even and healthy color. The natural composition fights not only blackheads and inflammation, but also prevents the recurrence of problems. However, compared to the previous product, Immortel is at the luxury level and can take a significant toll on your wallet. The cost of a 75 ml tube is 2,950 rubles.
Toning facial scrub
The Clearskin toning scrub from Avon, despite its budget, has far from a weak effect in terms of cleansing. Yes, Avon cosmetics cannot boast of the naturalness of their composition, which explains the avalanche of consumer criticism. But you can always find exceptions, and this is one of them.
Gentle and gentle cleansing is provided by two main ingredients: eucalyptus and witch hazel. Excellent exfoliation and evens out skin tone. Does not injure the delicate epidermis and gives a feeling of freshness. Has a pleasant menthol aroma. After use, a slight blush remains on the face, and the feeling of tightness is completely absent.
No less popular is the Radiance of the East from the same company.
The cleanser includes 2 in 1. That is, first it is used as a scrub, and then, after the exfoliation procedure, the composition must be left on the face until it dries completely. After use, the face becomes very soft and smooth. A slight whitening effect occurs. There is no feeling of tightness, as in the previous version.
Deep facial scrub
Only peeling can provide deep cleansing. But even this can be done at home. In terms of effectiveness, it may, of course, be inferior to salon ones, but in case of mild forms of problems, you can do the entire procedure yourself.
Before applying chemicals to your facial skin, be sure to test for allergies by applying a small amount of the drug to the inner bend of your elbow or to the skin behind your ear. After several hours, if there is no reaction, you can use it for its intended purpose.
- At the pharmacy, buy a solution of calcium chloride at a concentration of 5%.
- Prepare a weak solution of the acid that you will apply to your face, such as glycolic. Read about each acid individually and choose what's right for you. For the first time, always choose a weak solution of drugs. Do an allergy test. If there is a slight burning and tingling reaction, the reaction is considered normal; if the “burning” effects are unbearable, refrain from the procedure.
- Prepare your skin for the process: wash thoroughly and wipe with lotion to remove dirt and degrease.
- Moisten a cotton pad with a calcium chloride solution and lubricate your face, avoiding the area around the eyes, periodically moistening the cotton pad in the prepared acid liquid.
- Once the first coat has hardened, apply the second. For the first time, you can apply no more than four layers, and in subsequent ones, up to eight layers are allowed.
- Once all applied layers have dried, the peeling must be removed. Lubricate your fingers with a small amount of baby soap and begin to roll the mixture over your face in a circular motion.
- At the end of the procedure, apply moisturizer to a dry face.
Remember that the peeling procedure at home is very dangerous, especially for girls with dry and sensitive skin. Before carrying out the procedure, be sure to consult with a cosmetologist; it is possible that he will independently select a peeling recipe for you that is suitable specifically for your skin type.
Daily facial scrub
It is preferable to do the scrubbing procedure no more than twice a week. But if for some reason there is a need to use a scrub every day, then the chosen product should be especially soft and gentle.
Frequent use of a scrub can harm the condition of the skin and lead to the exact opposite effect. Sebum production will increase, which in turn will lead to the appearance of blackheads and pimples.
Using a facial scrub
- Before using the scrub, your face must be cleansed with tonic or lotion. Use a miniature facial sauna to thoroughly steam your skin. If there is no sauna, then soak a terry towel in hot water and place it on your face. It is important that the pores are open.
- Take the required amount of scrub in your hands and begin to gently massage the skin along the massage lines. The massage lasts about four minutes. Do not rush to remove the composition from your face, leave it on your face for about two minutes so that the skin has time to become saturated with useful substances.
- Using light, patting movements, rinse the scrub off your face with water at room temperature.
- Moisturize your face with cream.
Which is better: a homemade scrub or a ready-made cosmetic product?
Trick question. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages. For example, a significant advantage of a purchased scrub is that it does not need to be prepared, which means the procedure will not take so much time. On the other hand, it is store-bought drugs that more often cause allergic reactions and, sometimes, irreversible ones. The chemical composition can negatively affect the condition of the skin, ph balance and even damage it.
Homemade scrubs take time. You need to select the ingredients, prepare them in advance and prepare the product itself. On the other hand, by preparing the scrub yourself, you can guarantee its naturalness. Diversity is also a plus. You can make a coffee composition today, for example, and a nut composition the next. Home remedies are less likely to cause allergies and will never have a negative effect on your skin. At a minimum, there will simply be no result, which depends on the individual reaction of the body to specific components in the composition.
The final decision is, of course, up to you. Try how your skin perceives a natural homemade mask, and then a store-bought one, evaluate the results and the decision will be made by itself.
Facial scrub recipes
And now a selection of the best facial scrubs at home.
- Mix the following ingredients in a cup in equal proportions: ground natural coffee, base oil (preferably grape seed) and honey heated in a water bath. Mix everything well and distribute it over your face with massage movements. After 2-3 minutes of the procedure, leave the scrub on your face for 5 minutes. Remove the mass with cool water.
- Mix sugar and natural fat yogurt in a 1:1 ratio. Apply the resulting mixture to your face and neck. At the end of three minutes, wash off the sweet yogurt from your face.
- Combine a spoonful of sugar, finely grated cucumber and a large spoonful of sea salt. Mix everything thoroughly. Scrub your face for at least two minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
- Pour a small amount of heavy cream over the ground oatmeal. Leave the mixture for a while to allow the rolled oats to swell. Massage the prepared paste onto your face for three minutes. You can leave the composition on your face for 4-5 minutes as a mask and only then wash it off.
- Classic honey scrub. Mix honey (fluid) with cinnamon and oil in equal proportions; you can use plain olive oil. The facial skin is massaged for 2-3 minutes, and then the mass remains on the surface for another 10 minutes.
- Mix ground dry rice with ground rolled oats. Add any base oil to the mixture to obtain a fairly thick consistency. Massage the mixture onto your face for about three minutes.
- Add a few drops of mint and ylang-ylang oils to the raspberry puree. This scrub perfectly tones the skin, making it soft and velvety.
For sensitive skin, it is better to use a synthetic rather than a natural abrasive. Such particles can be purchased at any Hand-Made cosmetic store. They are inexpensive, the results are excellent, and the skin is not injured even with intense massage.
- Pour lemon juice over the rice, ground to fine crumbs, until a paste forms. Treat the skin with the resulting mixture, paying special attention to problem areas of the T-zone.
Every girl can prepare a scrub at home. This will not take much time, but natural ingredients will help bring your skin into order without any danger to its health. If you want to save even more time, then prepare the dry mixture in advance and place it in a dry jar with a tight lid, put it in the refrigerator, and at the time of the procedure, pour the required amount into a separate bowl, mix with the liquid component and apply to the face.
But do not forget about the importance of an allergy test, especially for masks with known allergenic products, such as honey. Even if a component does not cause an allergy when consumed as food, it is still unknown how your skin will react to it.
