Home Health Sunburn: what to do

Most of us are familiar with sunburn firsthand. In summer, when the sun is bright, it is very easy to get sunburned. What should be done in such a situation to quickly cure the burn? And how to behave so as not to get such a burn?

How to treat sunburn

If it so happens that you spent a long time under the scorching sun and received a burn, you must take all measures as quickly as possible to alleviate the condition and provide first aid.

Immediately apply a damp compress to the affected areas. This will reduce pain and retain moisture in the skin. Keep this compress on your skin for about 20 minutes. If possible, immerse yourself in a bath of water at room temperature.

c6 Then treat the most damaged areas of the skin with a special burn spray or a special moisturizer. Burnt skin needs rest, so stay indoors and out of direct sunlight if possible. If you feel weak, take a paracetamol or aspirin tablet. If you experience symptoms such as chills and fever, dry mouth and nausea, or headaches, be sure to seek help from a doctor. These signs indicate dehydration.

Sunburn in children

For a child's delicate skin, a very short stay in the sun without protection is enough to get a severe burn. The sun can be especially treacherous near water. Its surface, like a mirror, reflects the sun's rays and enhances their effect several times.

s8 If you did not protect your baby and he still gets burned, you need to quickly provide him with help:

  • Immediately take the child into the shade.
  • If you notice a deterioration - an increase temperature, chills, swelling or a large burn area, be sure to call a doctor.
  • Use anti-burn sprays to relieve your baby's condition. You can lubricate the skin with juice aloe or Panthenol.
  • To restore water balance, the child needs a lot of fluid. This can be bottled water, fruit drink or fresh juice.
  • If you have a high temperature, use antipyretics.
  • To reduce pain, dress your baby in loose clothing made of cotton or other natural fabric.

At this time, there are a lot of effective drugs on sale that alleviate the condition after a sunburn. Some of the most effective include the following:

How to avoid getting sunburned

To reduce the risk of sunburn, start your sunbathing with a few minutes. The first sessions should not last longer than 20 minutes. If you have delicate, pale skin, this time should be even shorter. Be sure to lubricate your skin with special products to protect from active sun. Apply the product 20 minutes before going outside.

Remember that sun protection needs to be renewed every two or three hours. After all, during this time the cream loses about half of its sunscreen properties. At the same time, try not to skimp on the cream. You should spend at least 20 ml of product per application.

Try not to go out into the sun during its peak hours. It is known that during the hours from 11 to 16 the sun's rays are more aggressive. Therefore, it is better to be in the shade at this time. If you get burned very quickly, then at this time it is better to go indoors or at least hide under a canopy.
