When does toxicosis begin
As we have already noted, pregnancy is a very individual matter. Toxicosis can begin from the first week of conception, and after a few weeks. And it may also happen that a woman will not experience toxicosis at all. In most women who felt symptoms of toxicosis, it began 5-6 weeks after fertilization of the egg.
If you have manifestations of toxicosis in pregnant women, then they will not bother you for long. Usually, it goes away in the first trimester and by 14 weeks all unpleasant symptoms stop.
Vomiting during pregnancy
Nausea and vomiting are felt by most pregnant women. This phenomenon, although unpleasant, is not considered a symptom of poor health or developmental problems. In most pregnant women, the urge to vomit occurs in the morning up to 5 times a day. The reason for this is hormonal disbalance as a result of pregnancy. As a rule, vomiting ends by the end of the first trimester of pregnancy, when the body gets used to the new condition and the well-being of the pregnant woman stabilizes.
Vomiting can be alleviated a little by changing your habits. For example, in the morning, before getting out of bed, eat a cookie or a crouton cooked in the evening. Lie down for a while to fool your stomach.
If vomiting is frequent, then try not to overload the stomach. Eat small doses and often. Do not eat heavy and aggressive food - fried, spicy, smoked foods. Foods that are high in vitamin B6, which can help reduce nausea, will be good for you. These are whole grain bread, potatoes, buckwheat, cabbage, bananas, walnuts, carrots, fish, chicken.
When vomiting, you must drink a lot to make up for the lack of fluid in the body. If water and regular drinks cause rejection and new bouts of vomiting, drink ginger tea or water with lemon.
Toxicosis in the early stages
Scientists still cannot find out the exact cause of toxicosis in pregnant women. Their opinions on this issue differ. It is only known for certain that it is caused by the presence of an embryo in the uterine cavity. If the embryo is removed, the symptoms of toxicosis will immediately stop. What if you have all the signs of toxicosis on your face - vomiting, nausea, drooling or heartburn? If these symptoms do not bother you too much, then toxicosis can simply wait out. When the fertilized egg is finally fixed in the uterus, the symptoms of toxicosis will disappear by themselves. If this does not happen, then you can, after consulting a doctor, start taking medications. It can be cerucal, valerian, hofitol, or no-shpa. Drink herbal teas such as mint or chamomile to reduce nausea.
Eat with toxicosis in small portions after two hours. Drink water in small sips, add lemon to it if necessary. Eliminate acidic juices. Green tea, cranberry juice or vegetable juices will be good for you.
Severe toxicosis
If nausea and vomiting bother a pregnant woman not only in the morning, but throughout the day, dizziness, weakness and irritability are added to this, then we can talk about severe toxicosis. It can bother a pregnant woman throughout the pregnancy and requires the intervention of a doctor.
To find out the cause of severe toxicosis, you must definitely consult a doctor. There can be many explanations for this state. The reason is heredity, and some kind of chronic liver disease, unpleasant emotions and stress, and the age of a pregnant woman also plays an important role.
To slightly alleviate the condition with severe toxicosis, try to be always in an even mood and protect yourself from stress. Do not use perfume and avoid household chemicals. You need to walk more, moderate physical activity, such as yoga or gymnastics for pregnant women, will also be beneficial. Try to adjust your diet. Eat little, but often. Food should be light and well absorbed. Drink plenty of fluids to replace what comes out with vomiting.
How long does toxicosis last
The duration of toxicosis is influenced by many factors. In some women, toxicosis is mild or they may not feel its symptoms at all. Other pregnant women suffer from severe toxicosis, not only in the early stages, but also until the very birth. Usually, the first signs of toxicosis begin to be felt by a woman at 5 or 6 weeks of pregnancy and by the end of 16 weeks the body returns to normal and the problems recede.
Heredity greatly affects the duration of toxicosis: if your mother suffered from nausea while pregnant, then there is a high probability that you will also have toxicosis.
How to get rid of toxicosis
Sometimes the causes of toxicosis are a woman's lack of confidence in her abilities and ability to be a mother. Thus, the body, as it were, indicates some psychological problems. In this case, the support of loved ones or conversations with a psychologist will help get rid of the symptoms of toxicosis.
If you feel that there are problems on the part of physiology, then you can correct this state by slightly changing your habits:
- To relieve yourself of morning sickness, drink water with lemon and honey in the morning. This drink is useful not only for nausea, but also for saturating the body with useful trace elements and vitamins.
- Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. In order not to provoke vomiting, exclude black tea and coffee from the diet. Drink mineral water, green tea, natural juices.
- Try to eat every two hours. A hungry stomach can trigger nausea due to low blood sugar levels.
- Exclude soft cheeses from the list of products, add more fermented milk products.
- Eat the dishes you want. Thus, the body makes it clear to you what nutrients it lacks.
- Avoid tobacco smoke, unpleasant and strong odors. This can lead to nausea.
How to treat toxicosis
If your toxicosis is not strong and its symptoms appear only several times a day, then you can alleviate the condition by observing the diet and bringing your diet back to normal.
You need to give up spices and strong-smelling condiments. Do not tolerate hunger and eat as soon as you feel like it. But don't go to bed with a full stomach. Sour drinks can help reduce nausea. A small slice of lemon will help eliminate the urge to vomit.
If toxicosis does not give a woman rest, medicines prescribed by a doctor will help. Usually the doctor prescribes drugs such as Meclozin, Hofitol or Metoclopramide. These drugs promote better digestion of food, improve liver function, and relieve motion sickness.
Remedy for toxicosis
Often, urban women suffer from toxicosis, living in crowded streets and stuffy offices, when there is simply not enough clean air and tranquility. Therefore, the best remedy for the symptoms of toxicosis is frequent walks, outdoor recreation, healthy and balanced food.
The use of folk remedies to relieve the manifestations of toxicosis also gives good results. It can be sour drinks, decoctions of chamomile, lingonberry, rosehip or cranberry juice. Perfectly relieves nausea mint. Therefore, if you have a nausea attack, it will be enough to chew mint gum or eat mint candies. A teaspoon of honey before meals can also help reduce bouts of nausea.
Modern medicine suggests using homeopathy as a treatment for toxicosis. In this case, a comprehensive examination of the woman is carried out and the drug is individually selected. The doctor may prescribe homeopathic remedies such as Ignatia, Symphoricarpus, or Sepia.
With severe toxicosis, when a woman almost constantly feels nausea, heartburn and vomiting, drug treatment is prescribed. Most often, such treatment is carried out in a hospital setting. In this case, the pregnant woman is prescribed the introduction of intravenous glucose, vitamin C. Other drugs are also recommended, the most harmless of which are no-shpa, vitamins and microelements. Other drugs used to relieve toxicosis, for example, injections of Splenin, Cerucal or Polyphepant, may have side effects. In especially severe cases, when the treatment does not lead to any positive result, there may even be a threat to the woman's life. Then you have to terminate the pregnancy to avoid death.
