Home Beauty Hair Preparing a scalp scrub

Scrubbing is one of the most popular procedures. After it, the skin of the face is transformed: it becomes smoother and takes on a refreshed appearance. But few people know that deep cleansing is required not only for the face, but also for the scalp.

Why do you need to exfoliate your scalp?

Women very rarely scrub the epidermis of the head; many do not even know that this is necessary, and have not heard of the existence of special scrubs for this part of the body. But the fact is that contamination of the epidermis of the head occurs in exactly the same way as in other places, and requires cleansing of dead particles.

By scrubbing the scalp you can:

  • Carry out a deep cleansing of the upper layer of the epidermis.
  • Remove sebaceous plugs and activate blood flow.
  • Eliminate dandruff.
  • Normalize the function of the sebaceous glands.
  • Improve oxygen penetration to skin cells.
  • Clean your hair from any remaining styling products.

Our hair is constantly exposed to styling products, balms, dyes and others. This does not improve their condition and gradually the hair takes on an unhealthy appearance. Using regular shampoo, it is impossible to efficiently remove the remnants of all these products from the porous structure of the hair. This leads to rapid contamination of the strands. They become lifeless and dim.

The scrubbing procedure accelerates hair growth and reduces hair loss. The hair takes on a healthy appearance, excess oiliness in the hair is eliminated, it breaks less and begins to shine. You don't have to buy the scrubbing product at the store. You can make the mixture yourself from healthy products.

Scalp Scrub Ingredients

Instead of the base for a homemade scalp scrub, you can use only sugar or salt. In this case, use sea salt or regular table salt. Sea salt will bring more benefits to your curls, so it is preferable to use it. Salt or sugar crystals should not be very large, otherwise they can injure the skin. If possible, use brown sugar, but if such sugar is not available, regular white sugar will do. Both sugar and salt dissolve well in water and are easily washed off from the skin and strands.

Do not use other products that are suitable for scrubbing the face and body as a base. Ground coffee, rice grains and oatmeal swell when wet and are difficult to remove from hair.

Any suitable means are used as additional products. These can be essential and base oils, eggs, honey, aloe juice, fruit pulp, herbal decoctions and others.

The simplest scrub is made from salt with small particle sizes. It is mixed with water in equal proportions. The resulting thick paste is rubbed into the hair roots for several minutes and then washed off with shampoo. After such cleansing, the hair is transformed. They are significantly strengthened, hair loss is reduced, shine and silkiness appear.

You can include additional ingredients in a salt scrub, creating a different variation of the product with the desired effect. For example, if you add 10 drops of burdock oil and 5 drops of peach oil to a salt scrub, you will get a strengthening scrub mask.

You can prepare a scrub mixture using your usual shampoo. Pour your favorite base oil and abrasive ingredient into a portion of shampoo until a thick mass is formed. It is applied to the root part of the strands and massaged for 5 minutes. Then the product is washed off with warm water.

To activate the growth of curls and improve their structure, use a mixture containing ground pepper and cinnamon. Mix ground hot pepper and cinnamon powder, 2 large spoons each, add a small amount of salt or sugar, or any base oil. Mix everything and add a little water if necessary. The consistency should be moderately thick. Cover the strands with the mixture and massage for 5 minutes, then leave the scrub to work for another 10 minutes and rinse off.

If the epidermis is very sensitive, it is better not to use mixtures with active and burning components. In this case, a scrub with fermented milk products is suitable. Add kefir, sour cream or natural yogurt and a few drops of olive oil to the abrasive base. Fermented milk products have a nutritional effect, and olive oil will soften the effect of the abrasive.

Girls note that it is better to use scrubs before washing your hair, and then thoroughly rinse off the product with shampoo. As a result of using homemade scrubs, much less shampoo is subsequently required for high-quality cleansing of curls. In addition, the curls acquire remarkable volume and lightness.
