How to iron a long sleeve shirt
Men's shirts require ironing. The process works best if the fabric is not overdried, but slightly damp after washing. If you miss the moment and the fabric becomes too dry, then moisten it with a spray bottle.
It is important to choose the right temperature regime so as not to spoil the material:
- Cotton shirts with polyester must be ironed with an iron heated to 110 degrees. It is allowed to use steam.
- Shirts made from viscose can be ironed at 120 degrees. You can also apply steam to them.
- Cotton shirts require more intense heating up to 150 degrees and ironing with steam.
- If the fabric of the product is cotton and linen, then the heating of the iron should be up to 200 degrees. Smoothing must be done with plenty of steam.
- Shirts made from natural linen require maximum heating of up to 230 degrees, intense sole pressure and a lot of steam.
If the fabric of the shirt is dark, then it is better to use the iron from the inside out, otherwise shiny iron marks may remain on the fabric. If it is impossible to smooth the fabric from the inside out properly, iron with plenty of steam without pressing on the fabric, or better yet, use an ironing iron.
Start ironing from the collar of the shirt. First, go around the wrong side, working from the corners to the center part. Then turn the collar over onto your face and iron it in the same way.
Then move on to the sleeves. First, iron the cuffs into proper shape, proceeding in the same way as you ironed the collar. If the shirt has a double cuff, then straighten it in one layer and iron it on both sides without bending it. After this, fold the cuff properly and iron the fold.
Now fold the sleeve so that the seam is located in the center and smooth it out. Turn over to the other side and iron again from the seam to the edges. Then fold the sleeve in a different position and move iron from the seam to the center.
After this, you can proceed to larger parts of the shirt. Place the product so that the yoke is located on the narrow part of the ironing board and iron this area. After this, iron the shelf, not forgetting the spaces between the buttons. Lastly, iron the back, start from the right side seam, gradually turn the product over and finish with the left side seam.
