Fear of childbirth appears in the third trimester of pregnancy. By the way, all women experience this condition, even those who give birth not for the first time. By the end of pregnancy, the fetus increases significantly and the expectant mother becomes uncomfortable to turn, she finds it difficult to choose a sleeping position, and trips to the toilet become more frequent.

The following symptoms become the harbingers of childbirth:

  • the stomach drops, the navel protrudes;
  • the mucous plug leaves;
  • amniotic fluid leaves;
  • back pain appears;
  • urination becomes frequent, and loose stools appear, usually a woman can confuse this condition with indigestion;
  • food preferences change or, conversely, appetite decreases, you can see that the woman has lost a little weight;
  • the presence of contractions;
  • a woman can, on a subconscious level, begin preparing for childbirth, that is, disassemble things for the baby, collect the bag for the maternity hospital, etc.

The following circumstances can affect the process of childbirth:

  • the sequence of pregnancy, that is, what it is in the order;
  • the presence or absence of complications;
  • genetic predisposition;
  • unplanned circumstances, such as severe distress.

How is the first birth

Primiparous women are faced with the process of childbirth for the first time, therefore, they are more often than others interested in how is the birth going... If this happens for the first time, then labor activity in primiparous begins with the following:

  • From contractions, the duration of the interval between them is significant, and the pain is not so strong.
  • As labor progresses, the intervals between contractions are reduced, the pain intensifies and the cervix opens.
  • The amniotic fluid is also opened and water is released through the vagina.

Often, the average duration of labor in primiparous women is 12 hours. When the waters are gone, the pain starts to build up. The second stage of labor is approaching. All this time, the doctor monitors the dilatation of the cervix, when it opens completely, you can start pushing.

An inexperienced woman does not know how contractions are determined. Contractions are regular contractions of the muscles of the uterus. At first, they do not cause pain and severe discomfort. The abdomen seems to contract by itself for 5-10 seconds and relax. This condition is similar to the increase in tone during pregnancy, but more intense. Such contractions do not always lead to subsequent childbirth, sometimes they go away on their own.

If labor pains have begun, then they will be constant, the interval between them does not exceed 20 minutes. After that, there is an increase in such sensations. They become longer, and the interval between them is reduced. During this time, the expectant mother can safely pack her things to the hospital, since she may have at least two hours in stock.

But if you notice the discharge of water, then you should not hesitate. Otherwise, dehydration will occur and the child may suffocate. If the labor is weak, then the doctors will make a special injection. Since the life of a child is at stake.

The childbirth itself goes through three stages, and it does not depend on what kind they are:

  1. The first stage is the onset of labor. At this time, contractions are felt and the cervix opens.
  2. The second stage is the birth of a baby, it is also called expulsion of the fetus.
  3. The third stage - the afterbirth comes out and the process of childbirth ends.

A second birth usually takes less time. There are reasons for this:

  • The cervix becomes more elastic after the first birth.
  • In addition, the uterus becomes sensitive to hormones that are produced during pregnancy. This causes the organ to contract rapidly.

Thanks to these factors, labor can also start early. In addition, if the interval between the first and second births is less than five years, then subsequent births can start unexpectedly and be very rapid.

The birthing process is the same:

  1. The beginning of the contractions, the opening of the cervix, the beginning of the attempts.
  2. The advancement of the baby through the birth canal and his birth.
  3. Discharge of the placenta.

It should be noted right away that you should not rush with a second pregnancy. The body must rest after the first birth. During this time, the nervous system, hormones, immunity will be restored, the supply of vitamins and minerals will be replenished.

Doctors recommend that for a second conception after the first birth, wait at least 2.5 years. The long term between births is 10 years. Such an interval is not favorable for a second pregnancy, since with age, a woman may develop diseases such as hypertension, hormonal disorders, etc. And they, in turn, can complicate the course of pregnancy.

In order for the birth to be successful, you need to listen to the obstetrician-gynecologist in everything, who will lead the whole process. He will determine when to push so that the baby appears quickly and without complications. Soon all torment will end, and you will fully experience the joy of motherhood.
