Tips for choosing coffee
Since there are quite a few types of coffee and they have different price categories, not all varieties can be found in a regular store. The rarest and most expensive options can be found on special online stores, where a variety of devices for preparing a drink are also presented. In addition to coffee sites, there are also specialized coffee shops, or stores that, in addition to coffee, also sell various teas.
But how do you choose good coffee from all the varieties? First, the packaging in which the product is located. It must be undamaged, hermetically sealed. Therefore, you should not buy coffee by weight, it is not known how long the beans have been lying, it is likely that they have long lost their freshness, taste and aroma.
Study the packaging carefully, including the degree of roast. Most often it goes from one to five, the first means a light roast, the last one is strong. Which one to choose is your decision, it all depends on your taste preferences. But you should also pay attention to the date when the beans were roasted. The optimal period for delicious coffee is a month, if the roasting date has exceeded this interval, then it is better to refuse the purchase.
Tips for choosing a roast level for beginners:
- light roast is a delicate, soft coffee, the beans in this case will be almost beige;
- medium - gives a slight bitterness, grains of a rich brown color;
- Viennese - dark brown coffee beans with an oily shiny surface, the coffee will taste sweet;
- strong - a tart and bitter drink, chocolate-colored grains;
- very strong roast - black shiny grains, the drink is bitter, but at the same time rich.
On store shelves, you can find not only coffee beans, but also a ready-made ground product. It is better to purchase coffee beans, since the ground powder quickly loses its aroma; it is better to grind the beans yourself. In addition, some "manufacturers" add impurities to ground coffee that have nothing to do with real coffee.
In addition to regular coffee, you can often see coffee with vanilla, citrus, chocolate and whiskey aromas. True, these are not natural additives, but only chemical impurities, so it is better not to waste time on such a product. You can make the coffee aromatic yourself by adding a little quality alcohol, slice orange, or a couple pieces of good chocolate.
