Christmas garlands
New Year is coming, which means that it's time to think about gifts for loved ones, about where and with whom to spend New Year's night, as well as how to decorate your home and a beautiful Christmas tree. Of course, all decorative elements can be purchased at any store, but it is more interesting to be creative and make decorations for your home and Christmas tree yourself. And if you have small children, then they can be involved in making decorative ornaments, it will be fun, exciting and interesting for any child.
Craft with a child: paper garland 
The easiest option is to make beautiful paper garlands. You can use cardboard, colored and foil paper, plain white and other options. The most famous paper garland is the chain garland. You will need paper for it, it can be plain or multi-colored, scissors and PVA glue. Small stripes are cut out of paper, the first one is folded into a ring and glued together with glue. The next strip of paper is pushed into the first ring and glued in the same way. The result is a long paper chain.
Another, simpler option is to cut colored strips of paper and glue, sew, or simply put on a rope or thick thread. 
The next option for a decorative garland is cutting out figures that will be attached to the rope. It can be of different sizes snowflakes of various shades and sizes, little men, snowmen, deer, mice, hearts, flowers, stars, penguins, Christmas trees and much more, for which there is enough imagination. Snowmen and penguins can be painted or cut and pasted with colored scarves or hats. Garlands in the form of golden or silver figures, for example, stars or Christmas trees, will look very beautiful and original. You can find such paper, or cover the figures with special varnish or shiny paint. 
You can also make lanterns from paper, string them on a string and the garland is ready. The option is more complicated - you need small boxes, you can use matchboxes, floss thread, or thin packaging tape, scissors, glue and colored paper, or packaging with a New Year theme. Cut rectangles out of paper so that they can wrap boxes. Wrap each box with paper, gluing it together. Tie a packing tape on top in the manner of a gift. You will get a lot of small gifts, they can be glued or strung on a thick thread and hung on the wall or Christmas tree. 
DIY Christmas garlands 
In fact, garlands can be made from just about anything, even those found in your home. These can be small soft toys, buttons, Christmas or pine cones, liver, popcorn, small Christmas decorations, photographs, pictures from glossy magazines, pom-poms, beads, even orange peels. The main thing is to show a little imagination and work with your hands.
If you have a sewing machine and pieces felt or fleece, then you can sew small figures of men, Christmas trees, snowmen. Sew them together, or attach them to a rope or ribbon, and you will get an original garland. For more originality, you can attach the figurines to the rope using small clothespins. 
If you have miniature toy Christmas balls, then they can be strung on a beautiful ribbon or rope and hung on the wall, or you can decorate a small Christmas tree with such a garland. 
The garland can be made using orange peels, cinnamon sticks, pine cones, small Christmas balls and ribbons. You will get not only a beautiful and unusual decoration for your home, but it will still be exude a light spicy citrus aroma.
If there are a lot of pine and spruce cones lying around in your house, then you can safely make a garland from them. All or half of the buds can be covered with white paint to simulate snow, or they can be coated with silver paint. You can think of the same decor for a feather garland. If the feathers are white, then golden paint is ideal for coating. 
The garland can be made from gingerbread cookie, it will decorate your home. To do this, prepare gingerbread cookies according to any recipe. It will be better if you make it curly - Christmas trees, little men, deer, houses. Further, two options are possible, the first is to make a hole at the top of each liver and make a ribbon, making it look like a Christmas tree decoration, after that it remains only to string it on a thread. The second option is to make a couple of holes in the middle of the cookie, pass a beautiful long ribbon through them, thus stringing each cookie at the same distance.
