Do-it-yourself fragrant sachets
Sachets are small bags or pads filled with aromatic herbs and spices. Once upon a time, they were used to ward off troubles, attract good luck, and prevent an evil spirit from entering the house. Modern housewives are more practical and use sachets as flavors.
What can you make a sachet with your own hands?
The sachet is made only from natural materials and products that are environmentally friendly. The composition of the sachet can be different, it all depends on what smells you like.
As a rule, the sachet is filled with herbs, dried flowers. You can collect a composition from them, or you can use it separately.
As a filler for sachets, the following can be used:
- essential oils;
- medicinal herbs;
- bark of coniferous trees;
- spices;
- dried peel;
- and other aromatic herbs and plants.
As well as a filler, sea salt is very often used. It absorbs odors very well and keeps them for a long time.
In rare cases, artificial filler in the form of padding polyester is also used for sachet pillows. It is impregnated with a mixture of essential oils and sewn into a cloth. But this method of making sachets is mainly used in manufacturing.
Flavored sachet mix can be prepared do it yourself, but this requires at least a little knowledge of herbs. Otherwise, you are unlikely to be pleased with the bitter smell of wormwood or something similar. If you know herbalism, you can safely start collecting and drying herbs.
When things are different, don't be upset. Purchase a ready-made collection at the pharmacy.
The most common fragrance combinations are:
- mint-cloves;
- rose lavender;
- lemon-clove-rosemary.
The ready-made sachet can be put in a wardrobe or linen closet, put the bags on the loggias, they will heat up during the day, and cool down in the evening and exude a sweet and warm aroma.
When making sachets, remember that smells have the property of having an effect on a person. Try to choose flavors that are appropriate for the room in which the sachet will be located:
- Something romantic is suitable for the bedroom: rose, rosemary, chamomile.
- Lavender is great for clothes, its smell invigorates, but at the same time does not excite. In addition, it perfectly repels insects.
- For the children's room: coffee, cloves, cinnamon, mint, citrus. These scents will help your baby better sleep and will also cheer you up.

- Bath or shower: rose, basil, sage, cloves, myrrh. These scents will allow you to relax and escape from the day's worries. Remember that only sea salt is used for the sachet in the bathroom.
