How to sew a trapeze skirt
The A-line skirt came to us from the 60s, like the A-line, which emphasizes the waist and hips, and slightly widens towards the bottom. You can wear such a skirt as an evening dress, complementing it with a matching top and massive accessories, which are very fashionable this season. A trapeze skirt will have to be in place both in the office, unless, of course, it is ultra-mini, and on a walk, and at any time of the year, depending on the fabric from which it is sewn.

How to sew a trapeze skirt with your own hands: a master class
Before you start sewing a trapeze skirt, decide on its length and in what season you plan to wear it - based on this, after taking measurements, select the fabric. This skirt, for all its simplicity, looks quite sophisticated if you choose the right top for it. Best of all, the cut of the trapeze will suit girls with wide shoulders and narrow hips: the A-shaped silhouette will make the hips wider, thereby visually bringing the figure closer to the ideal "hourglass".
When you start sewing, you should already know:
- half-girth of the thighs;
- half-girth of the waist;
- skirt length.
After constructing a pattern of the required size and cutting out the fabric, sew the side seams of the skirt. Seal the waistband with an adhesive pad and sew in the zipper on the side. Please note that the seams, cut along the side, stretch strongly, therefore, when hemming the lower edge of the skirt on a sewing machine, folds are formed along the hem. If this is not desirable for you, then process the edge by hand or leave it as it is - this will add a kind of "zest" to the skirt.
How to sew a trapeze skirt: pattern
Sewing a trapeze skirt is quite simple, so this skirt model will suit you well as your first major work. Another big advantage is that such a skirt cannot be ruined: it does not tolerate patch pockets, or any darts and the like. You can decorate it only with decorative embroidery, a narrow strap, or leave it without decorations at all - it will complement itself. If you are sewing a skirt for the summer, we recommend that you use fabrics in bright colors that already have patterns.
It's good if before that you have already sewed a classic straight skirt to your size and you still have a life-size pattern. So you will sew a trapezoid skirt even faster, only by expanding the pattern to the bottom by closing the darts at the waist.
- Build a life-size pattern for sewing a straight skirt of your size, as shown in the picture # 1.
- Cut from the tops of the darts to the hem of the skirt as shown in picture # 2.
- Draw the hem of the skirt with a smooth, rounded line.
- You should have 2 almost identical details: back and front.
- Since you will cut the skirt obliquely, the patterns are needed in one piece, it is better not to fold the fabric when cutting. Using this pattern, you can sew a trapezoid skirt of any length.
