How to protect your hair from wind and sun
It has long been proven that exposure to both aggressive sun and winter cold is equally harmful to our hair. They make the curls brittle, dry, and appear dandruff and other problems, up to their loss. How to prevent such problems?
How to protect your hair from the sun
If you spend the summer months in the city, then try not to spend the daytime hours outside with your head uncovered. At this time, the sun's rays are the most aggressive, so it is better to cover your curls with a hat, bandana or any other headdress.
For summer, it is better to replace the usual alcohol-based styling products with analogues made from natural ingredients. It would be great if, among other ingredients, your hair care products contain special filters that protect against ultraviolet radiation.
Also, during the summer, you should abandon all types of devices for creating curls. It is better not to use a hair dryer to dry your hair. And if you can’t do without it, then be sure to use cold air drying. After all, throughout the day the air already absorbs moisture, so there is no need to additionally dry your hair with a hairdryer.
Use nourishing masks to moisturize your strands and balms. We also recommend using special indoor air humidifiers to create comfortable conditions. In hot weather, before going outside, you can spray your hair with thermal water or a specially designed spray.
If you spend your holidays on the sea coast, then sea salt, the influence of hard sand and gusts of hot wind are added to the aggressive effects of solar activity. Therefore, it is better to protect curls at a seaside resort comprehensively.
- To enhance the protective qualities of the strands, a few weeks before the trip it is recommended to refuse dyes and from perm with chemicals.
- At sea, you should not go out with your head uncovered. Hats and panama hats will not only protect you from headaches and sunstroke, but will also protect your curls from the danger of being overdried. For better protection, buy hats made from natural materials in light shades.
- Try to hide your hair as much as possible under your headdress. If necessary, you can braid the hair into a braid or make a tourniquet and secure it with a hairpin. The fewer strands left uncovered, the less time and money you will have to spend restoring damaged hair.
- Be sure to wash your hair or at least rinse with fresh water after every swim in sea water. It is important to free your curls from salt, which attracts bright rays.
- Often use special products with ultraviolet filters to protect your curls.
- Be sure to apply conditioner to your curls before each visit to the beach.
How to protect your hair from the wind in winter
In the cold, and even more so in the frosty season, be sure to wear a hat. Perhaps this does not entirely correspond to fashion trends, but it is useful for your curls. Keep in mind that exposure to low temperatures increases the likelihood that your hair will simply begin to fall out rapidly. Even short-term exposure to low temperatures damages hair follicles, which causes disturbances in their nutrition and provokes hair loss.
Postpone experiments with hairstyles until the warmer months and do not get a haircut that needs daily styling. In any case, it will not be possible to maintain ideal styling under a headdress, and no one has ever called the use of hair dryers and curling irons useful for creating curls. It is best to get a haircut for the winter that does not require complex styling, for example with graduated strands.
When washing your hair, keep the water cool. This will create conditions that are as close to weather conditions as possible. The curls will become less electrified. Brush your hair more often. This will become a kind of massage that will increase blood circulation, and therefore nutrition of the hair roots. Provide your curls with additional nutrition in the form of masks. For dry strands, use kefir masks based on vegetable oil or potatoes. And for other types of curls, masks with egg or honey are suitable.
Before going out into the air, be sure to apply protective equipment against low temperatures and gusts of wind. Avoid tight hairstyles, which interfere with blood flow and cause hair loss.
