Home Beauty Hair Masks for oily hair

Even oily hair can stay clean for a long time if you take proper care of it. One of the elements of such care are masks. We will tell you how to prepare special formulations and how best to monitor and care for oily hair types in this article.

How to care for oily hair

Oily hair is a flexible concept. There is hair that has normal oiliness and does not cause many problems for its owner. And there are curls that are characterized by increased fat content, which is very inconvenient. However, the latter option is often observed with problems in the body, so you need to seek help from a qualified specialist. The recommendations and recipes for masks mentioned below will, of course, work, but they will only have a cosmetic superficial effect that does not last long. Only competent treatment can completely eradicate the problem.

In fact, it is not the hair that is oily, but the scalp. In this case, the skin glands produce a lot of sebum, which quickly pollutes the hair and makes its appearance completely unattractive. The produced sebum is a protective barrier that protects the dermis and the hair itself from bacteria and the effects of harmful external factors. But when there is an excess of this fat, the hair becomes heavier and its volume is lost. Responsible for the activity of the sebaceous glands in the body testosterone hormone, so for those who suffer from a similar problem, this hormone is often at very high levels. This factor is inherited or appears due to hormonal imbalance, which is especially important during puberty or during the period of taking hormonal drugs and contraceptives.

You need to start caring for oily hair by choosing the right shampoo. It must be marked “for oily hair.” This may seem insignificant to some, but in fact, such detergents have a pH level above 6.7, which allows it to effectively dissolve and wash away sebum. They often include additional beneficial ingredients that will have a good effect on the condition of the hair, such as sulfur, zinc, and herbal ingredients. To restore the normal balance of the oily dermis of the scalp, experts advise taking a closer look at hair cosmetics that contain aloe extracts and hyaluronic acid.

About once a month you should definitely use shampoos designed for deep cleaning. This will help rid the skin of excess sebum, improve blood circulation and free the dermis from dead epithelial cells. When caring for oily hair, when choosing shampoo and other care products, you should avoid those that contain silicone. This substance tends to accumulate in the dermis and clog pores, which only enhances the activity of the sebaceous glands.

Several useful products that are available to every girl to help care for oily hair:

  • Rinsing with apple vinegar works well for such hair. To prepare the composition, you need to dissolve a spoonful of vinegar in a glass of water and pour it over your hair. Wait for a quarter of an hour, and then wash off the composition with warm water.
  • You can use live beer for your hair. Not canned, but one that is sold on tap and has a short shelf life. It contains a lot of B vitamins, enzymes and mineral salts - all this has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the sebaceous glands and on the quality of the hair itself. To care for your curls, you just need to pour beer over them and leave for a quarter of an hour, then rinse your hair with shampoo.  265327_57ee15e4b427957ee15e4b42bd
  • It is good to rinse your hair with simple tea, which then does not necessarily need to be washed off. Only those with blonde hair need to be careful as this drink may affect the color.
  • Before washing your hair, five minutes before the procedure, you can rub the fresh juice of one lemon into your head.

How to wash your hair

Almost every second girl with oily hair washes her hair daily. As hair experts say, this only worsens the condition, and the optimal break from one wash to another would be two to three days. The fact is that the more often you use shampoo, the more abundantly the sebaceous glands will work. To get out of such an unpleasant situation, we advise you to follow some rules:

  • Don't try to suddenly change your hair washing schedule, start small. First, wash your curls with a break of one day, then two days. In order not to show off the oiliness of your hair, you can temporarily switch to dry shampoos or use hats.
  • When washing your hair, use only warm water, as hot water makes the sebaceous glands work more actively. After applying shampoo to your hair, massage it for at least thirty seconds. Then rinse off the foam and repeat the washing procedure again to ensure proper cleansing.
  • Hair conditioner should be applied to the hair, but not to the roots and scalp. The purpose of this product is to close the hair scales that are opened by shampoo and thereby make the hair smooth and shiny. For oily hair, choose light balms without unnecessary ingredients.
  • Finish washing your hair by rinsing with cool water. This action will calm the sebaceous glands, make the hair structure smooth and prevent electrification.

A few words about styling oily hair

If you don’t want to constantly see oily hair, curl it. In this case, the fat will be inhibited and will not be able to be distributed along the length. You can get a long-term bioperm in professional salons. It's not cheap, but the results are worth it.

When choosing a styling product, it is better to give preference to those labeled “for volume.” These almost always contain no oils, or their amount is minimal. But it’s best to avoid those products that are labeled “for shine,” as they contain a lot of oils that can make your hair even greasy.

During the day, try not to be overzealous with combing your hair and have less contact with your hair with dirty hands. This contributes to rapid hair contamination.

When using a hairdryer or curling iron for styling, try not to touch the roots. The fact is that sebum is solid in consistency and begins to melt under high temperature, distributed along the entire length of the hair. This explains the paradox that blow-dried hair retains volume the least.

Now that the basic rules for treating oily hair are known, we can talk about which homemade masks will help make your curls beautiful.

Masks for oily hair with oils

It is generally accepted that oils are only suitable for dry hair, while oily hair will only become dirtier. This belief is only partly true. The fact is that properly selected oil can improve the hair structure and improve the functioning of the sebaceous glands. Of course, the question of choosing an oil for oily hair is purely individual, but we can say that with a high probability such oils as:

  • castor oil;
  • burdock;
  • shi;
  • cocoa;
  • palm;
  • coconut

This is explained by the heavy structure of the oil, which is sometimes difficult to wash out from normal hair, let alone hair prone to oiliness.

Here is a list of those oils that go well with problematic hair types:

All of them are perfectly distributed throughout the hair, rinse off perfectly and nourish the curls with everything they need. They have a calming effect on the oily dermis of the scalp and help get rid of dandruff, stop hair loss and protect from harmful environmental influences. However, despite the fact that these oils are potentially well compatible with oily hair, it is better to check the reaction of your hair yourself. Since everything is purely individual.

Masks for oily hair with dry ends

The situation in which the roots of the hair are oily and the ends become dry is not so rare. What to do in this case? The answer is simple - we need universal masks that will have a beneficial effect on the overall structure of the hair and scalp. Such masks should be done regularly 2-3 times a week for several months. The mask should be applied to the hair for half an hour to an hour, and then washed off with water, if there are no oils in the composition, or with shampoo, if there are oils. After applying the composition to the curls, the head should be wrapped in cling film and wrapped in a towel for better effect. And also, if the mask contains oils, so as not to weigh down the hair, the mask should be applied from the middle of the hair to the ends; formulations without oils are applied to the entire length of the hair.

  • Combine olive, burdock and castor oil in equal volumes. Stir, heat in a water bath and apply to hair from mid-length to ends.
  • Take one yolk from a boiled egg and mash it with a fork. Add 50 ml of good cognac and a spoonful of balsam to the yolk. Mix and apply to hair, being careful not to touch the ends.
  • You can apply plain yogurt to your curls. The main thing is that it is natural, without unnecessary additives and not the highest fat content. 77aefd73aad03e0f3cef37f929bdca0e
