How to make a decoction for hair
Unlike masks, even homemade, there is nothing complicated in making a decoction. As advice, we can only say that it is better to prepare a decoction not by boiling, but by pouring boiling water over the herb and then infusing it. However, if we are talking about the roots of the plant, then it is better to boil them. This way, all the valuable substances that nourish the hair remain in the composition. Before using the decoction, be sure to strain it so as not to comb out pieces of grass later.
You can rinse your hair with the broth every time after washing; the frequency of the procedure will only work in a positive direction. Therefore, the only obstacle here can only be your laziness.
Since decoctions spoil very quickly, you need to prepare a fresh composition each time, and not stock up on them for future use. And to make the effect more noticeable, after rinsing, let your hair dry naturally.
To properly prepare the decoction, carefully read the instructions that come with the herb and follow them. Now let’s look at the effects of the most beneficial herbs for hair and find out why they are so remarkable.
Burdock decoction for hair
Burdock is endowed with excellent anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties; its use can achieve mirror shine, overcome dandruff. Regularly rinsing your hair with burdock root helps strengthen your curls, making them strong and silky. This way you can restore hair that has become damaged after frequent dyeing. The great advantage of burdock is that it has virtually no contraindications.
The decoction contains a large amount of vitamins, including group B, which are so beneficial for hair health. With its help, hair grows strong, healthy and thick, and its lovely appearance will remain until old age.
Speaking about the benefits of burdock decoction for hair, it is also worth saying that it can:
- relieve itchy scalp;
- promote scalp renewal;
- nourish hair roots with valuable vitamins;
- treat scalp diseases;
- strengthen the hair structure;
- treat dandruff;
- stop the loss;
- treat baldness;
- normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands;
- prevents the appearance of gray hair.

And girls with thin hair will be delighted with the ability to add volume to their hair. Burdock strengthens the hair's immunity, which means that it will no longer be so vulnerable to the sun's rays and temperature changes.
Burdock decoction is ideal for weak, thin, dry, oily, unruly, and sluggishly growing hair. However, even for absolutely healthy curls, burdock can act as a preventive remedy for maintaining beauty.
To prepare a decoction of burdock, you need to take the roots of the plant in the amount of one large spoon and pour half a liter of cold water over it. Place the mixture on the stove and bring to a boil, cover with a lid and simmer for half an hour over low heat. After this, remove from the heat and, without opening the lid, let it sit until it cools completely. Squeeze out the roots and add boiled water to the broth so that the evaporated volume is replenished, i.e. up to 0.5 liters. A small note, if you have long curls, then take twice as many ingredients.
Nettle decoction for hair
Many of those who have ever resorted to the procedure of rinsing their hair with nettles were very pleased with the results obtained. But at the same time, some gave advice to collect and prepare nettles on your own, but if this is not possible, use a pharmacy. After using nettle, hair becomes soft, shiny and silky. If the hair is slightly damaged, then an amazing result will be noticeable after the first use. Hair begins to grow more actively, and falls out in much smaller quantities; over time, hair loss stops altogether.

Decoctions for rinsing hair
The primary advantage of rinsing your hair with herbal decoctions is that these are natural, absolutely natural compounds that simply cannot harm. Unlike balms, which, if chosen incorrectly, can give the exact opposite effect, this will not happen with decoctions. They gently, but very effectively heal the curls, and then maintain this condition.
Herbal decoctions are beneficial for all hair, regardless of its type and color. But it is still possible to make a conditional division. Universal herbs include:
- Nettle. A very popular herb that shows amazing results literally from the very beginning of use.
- Burdock, also known as burdock, is an excellent treatment for hair loss.
- Sage is a powerful blow to dandruff and soothes irritation well.
- Calendula nourishes hair and makes it soft, treats acne that appears on the scalp.
- Chamomile gives shine and makes hair healthy and beautiful.
- Mint heals the scalp, eliminates dandruff and perfectly refreshes.
- Birch leaves have a complex effect on hair and scalp.
- Basil stimulates rapid hair growth and makes combing much easier.
- Rosemary adds volume, volume and shine to even thin hair.
Also, herbs can be divided into groups, where one will include compositions for blondes, and the other for brunettes. This is due to the fact that each of the presented herbs tends to emphasize the shade of the hair by slightly coloring it. For example, the following combinations can be recommended for brunettes:
- strong tea with nettle and rosemary;
- rosemary with sage;
- horsetail with oak bark and nettle;
- strong brewed coffee with linden.
And blondes will like these combinations:
- lemon juice with chamomile;
- vinegar with chamomile and calendula;
- chamomile with horsetail and hop cones;
- lemon juice with rhubarb root.

Further division occurs according to problems that are characteristic of hair. For dry curls that have lost their beautiful shine and look lifeless, the following decoction recipes are very suitable:
- Pour half a liter of water over the chamomile flowers and boil for ten minutes. After this, remove from heat and let sit for ten minutes. Strain and use as directed, after adding a little fresh lemon juice.
- Pour a couple of large spoons of rowan into a liter of water and prepare a decoction. You need to rinse your hair with the prepared mixture twice a week.
- Pour four large spoons of birch leaves into a liter of boiling water and let sit for half an hour. Rinse your hair with the finished tincture every time after washing. If we talk about oily hair type, then here they will come to the rescue:
burdock;
- coltsfoot;
- spruce;
- fir;
- chamomile;
- linden;
- oak bark;
- calendula.
You can prepare decoctions with any of the herbs presented by pouring three tablespoons of the dry product with a liter of water. You can experiment and mix several herbs at the same time to prepare a rinse composition. Of all the varieties, nettle and oak bark are especially popular. However, for light hair, oak bark may be too dark, so you need to either reduce the concentration or replace it with another, more suitable one.
