Split hair: causes, symptoms and treatment
Why does our hair split and how to prevent it? This question is most often of interest to many girls, especially those with long curls. After all, healthy and well maintained the appearance of the hairstyle is one of the main components of female beauty. Therefore, today we will understand the causes of this problem and how to prevent and eliminate it.
Hair split: reasons
To begin with, let's figure out what is meant by the term "section"? This is how they characterize the stratification of the hair structure at their ends or along the entire length - this happens in especially advanced cases. Doctors-trichologists classify this condition as a disease called "trichoptilosis".
Next, let's look at the reasons that lead to this problem:
- Lack of nutrients. Deficiency in the body of certain vitamins and minerals, such as groups A, B, C, E, iron. Therefore, it often happens that all the nutrition goes to the roots, and the ends remain "out of work" and begin to hurt. Girls with long hair should pay special attention to this point.
- Permanent or aggressive dyeing, curling using chemical compounds.
- Frequent use of hair dryers, hot pans, straightening irons, metal combs and various styling and fixing products.
- Washing with hard water with excess bleach.
- Do not overuse brushed hairstyles.
- You can even injure your hair with hairpins and rubber bands. If possible, leave them loose as often as possible so that they can rest.
- In the summer, they are affected by solar ultraviolet light, and in winter, severe frosts. That is why it is recommended to hide them under a hat in cold weather.
- Wrong lifestyle: unbalanced diet (especially sugar, sweets and fatty foods), bad habits, lack of sleep, stress... All this affects not only the condition of the hair, but also the entire appearance of the girl.
- Chronic diseases of various kinds and other disorders in the body.
How hair splits
A split hair in appearance can be compared to a "whisk" due to the fact that its structure is stratified into two or three parts. As noted above, sometimes the cross section is observed unevenly over its entire surface.
The appearance of the hairstyle suffers greatly from this problem - it looks unkempt like "straw". Wherein hair become dry, very tangled, and from the touch of the combs begin break.
If you twist a split curl into a flagellum, then the damaged hairs will stick out of it in different directions, but a healthy lock looks even and neat.
In the case when treatment with special shampoos, balms and masks does not bring the desired results, you should definitely consult a doctor. He will appoint all the necessary examinations in order to identify the root cause of this problem - most likely it lies inside the body.
Preventive measures for hair cutting can be as follows:
- First, if this trouble has already overtaken your hairstyle, then you need to mercilessly say goodbye to exfoliated ends, even if it is a decent enough length. Otherwise, they will continue to be cut higher and higher along the entire rod. Contact the hot scissor haircutter.
- Another option is to regularly (at least once every couple of months) trim the ends of your hair a little.
- Do not forget treat and nourish hair with masks, which are very easy to do at home. Alternatively, get them from a pharmacy or a professional cosmetics store.
- Never try to comb wet hair after washing, do not rub it with a towel.
- Reduce the amount of heat-pads and blow-dry.
- Use a natural bristle comb or a wooden one with rounded teeth.
- Diet adjustments in favor of healthy food, combined with a multivitamin to strengthen hair, will also do the trick.

Split Ends Masks
If your hair is prone to stratification, then you should always remember two main rules for caring for it - nutrition and hydration!
We bring to your attention a few simple recipes for masks that do an excellent job with this task and will help prevent their cutting:
- Mix equal parts olive oil (vegetable substitution is allowed) and honey(necessarily liquid). You can also add egg yolk to it. Leave this composition to "work" for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.
- Grind half of the avocado pulp into a pulp with a fork and combine with burdock oil and honey, a teaspoon of each. This mass must be applied along the entire length. After application, put on a plastic cap (hereinafter we will simply call it a cap), wrap your hair with a towel and walk like that for half an hour. You need to do ten procedures, with an interval of every two to three days.
- Take 2 tablespoons of cream (fatter) and 1 tablespoon of almond oil, mix these ingredients well and heat in a water bath to 36-37 degrees. Next, beat the egg yolk and add it to the resulting composition. The application scheme is the same as for the previous mask, but you need to keep it a little longer - 40 minutes.
- Melt half a dark chocolate bar in a water bath (the higher the percentage of cocoa beans in it, the better) and heavy cream (3 tablespoons). When the mass becomes homogeneous, cool it to 37 degrees and pour in a teaspoon of juice aloe... Cover your hair with it, and put a hat on top. Its action lasts 40 minutes, then rinse the curls with lukewarm water, and then shampoo.
- Mix a tablespoon of glycerin and the same amount of olive oil, heat them in a water bath to about 37 degrees. Attention - the resulting composition is used only for the ends of the hair! After that, put on a hat and wrap a towel around your head. The principle of this mask is as follows - the longer the better! Therefore, it is recommended to do it before bed, so that it "works" while you are resting.
