Wet cleaning of the house: how, what and when

From time to time, each room needs to be wet cleaned. Only such cleaning will allow, at least for a while rid your apartment of dust. This type of cleaning is especially important if children or people with allergies live in the apartment.

What you need for wet cleaning

There is no need to explain to any mother that it is harmful for a child to breathe dust. But simply walking around the apartment with a broom will not get rid of it. Wet cleaning should be carried out in an apartment with small children, if not every day, then twice a week - that’s for sure. In addition, it is advisable to wipe off dust daily with damp cloths.

In order for the wet cleaning process didn't take much time, you need to prepare everything you need in advance:

• Napkins of different sizes, preferably microfiber.
• A mop so that you can wipe the floor in hard-to-reach places.
• Cleaning products.
• Large bucket for cleaning the floor.
• A small basin to wash different surfaces.
• Rubber gloves to protect your hands from aggressive cleaning agents.

Prepare everything you need in advance so that you don’t have to be distracted by searching for some kind of remedy later.

How to do wet cleaning

Before doing wet cleaning, you need to clean the carpets and upholstered furniture. The most convenient way to do this is with a vacuum cleaner. Having completed the dry cleaning process, you can proceed directly to wet cleaning. To do this, take water, preferably warm, into a small basin and add furniture cleaner to it. Such preparations are convenient because they have an antistatic effect and do not allow dust to settle on the surface. Soak a cleaning cloth in the resulting solution and wipe all surfaces in the room with it, including furniture and window sills.

If you are cleaning the kitchen, then before doing this, wash all the dirty dishes and put them in their places. Then you need to clean and wash the work surfaces and stove. It is best to use special cleaning products to clean the stove. They will make the washing process quick and easy. Working surfaces, such as countertops and kitchen aprons, are washed with the addition of a product specially designed for this purpose. It can easily cope with oily spots and other contaminants that are often found in the kitchen.

Cleaning the bathroom and toilet rooms begins with washing the plumbing fixtures. Use toilet bowl cleaners, bathtub and ceramic surface cleaners for this purpose.

Having washed all the surfaces in the apartment, you can start washing the floors. It’s more convenient to do this with a mop - this way you can wash the floor in hard-to-reach places, for example under the bed or behind the sofa. You can add a special agent to the water for washing floors to reduce contamination. If you don’t have such a product at hand, you can add a little washing powder to the water. But keep in mind that in this case you will have to rinse off the remaining cleaning product with clean water so that there are no streaks left on the floor.
If you have the opportunity, use a vacuum cleaner to clean the floors. Such a unit will solve several problems at once - it will clean the floor, humidify the air and get rid of dust. In addition, modern washing vacuum cleaners can solve the problem of washing carpets and wet cleaning of upholstered furniture, as well as other textile surfaces that accumulate dust.

How often to do wet cleaning

The frequency of wet cleaning depends only on your capabilities and desires, as well as on the individual conditions in each apartment. It is recommended under normal circumstances to do wet cleaning weekly. On other days, you can limit yourself to dry cleaning. But there are cases when wet cleaning is done daily.

Such cases include:

• The presence of an allergic disease, especially in its acute phase, in one of the family members.
• If there is a sick person in the house, then wet cleaning and getting rid of dust will help to cope with the disease faster.
• Neighborhood with apartment a busy highway, when all the dust and exhaust fumes from cars fly into the room.
• If you have small children.

Either way, an extra bit of wet cleaning never hurts. After all, it’s always nice to be in cleanliness and fresh air.
