Lentils are a legume. You can cook anything with it, from porridge to cutlets. However, for the dish to be tasty, it must be prepared correctly, following certain rules.

How to cook lentils

The modern market offers us a huge selection of lentils. This is not the cheapest cereal. It has already been cleaned, steamed, and selected according to size. All that remains is to fall asleep in the water. If you buy an almost finished product, that's great. But sometimes you come across more economical options, and with them the situation is different. Before you begin the cooking process, you need to sort out the grains and rinse them thoroughly with water.

The cooking time for lentils depends on what you are planning to cook:

  • chopped lentils cook for about twenty minutes and are great for porridges and purees;
  • whole is cooked for up to forty-five minutes.

There are several ways to cook lentils.

Cold

You need to take:

  • a glass of lentils;
  • two glasses of water;
  • a teaspoon of salt.

Cooking process:

  1. Using a sieve lag, rinse the lentils.
  2. Pour into a saucepan, pour in two glasses of water. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Then cover the pan with a lid and cook until fully cooked.
  3. Five minutes before cooking, add salt.

If you want to make a side dish out of lentils, drain the water: leave the porridge.

Hot

You need to take:

  • a glass of lentils;
  • two glasses of water;
  • a teaspoon of salt.

Cooking process:

  1. The lentils are sorted and washed.
  2. The water is placed on high heat and brought to a boil.
  3. Lentils are poured into boiling water, the heat is reduced, and the lid is covered. Cook until done.
  4. A few minutes before cooking, add salt.

To prepare you will need:

  • sausage (blood or hunting) 200 g;
  • lentils 150 g (variety of your choice);
  • 1 medium sized carrot;
  • one medium-sized onion;
  • green bell pepper 1 pc;
  • 3 cloves of garlic;
  • potatoes 1 piece;
  • paprika 1 tbsp;
  • carbonate 100 g.

Getting ready dish with lentils as follows:

  1. Soak the lentils briefly (about 40 minutes).
  2. Then put it on the fire and cook together with the sausage and carbonate for thirty minutes.
  3. While the lentils are cooking, cut the vegetables into large pieces and fry them (it is best to use olive oil).
  4. Add the roasted vegetables to the pan with the lentils, sausage and carb.
  5. Now it's the potatoes' turn. Peel, wash, cut into large cubes and add to the saucepan.
  6. Cook until the potatoes are ready.
  7. Add paprika, stir. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. The dish is ready.

Lentils with pork

To prepare the dish you need:

  • lentils (any type) 3 cups;
  • 1 kg pork pulp (lean);
  • soy sauce 100 g;
  • 2 medium onions;
  • head of garlic;
  • cherry tomatoes 10 pcs;
  • sour cream 2 tbsp;
  • mustard 2 tbsp;
  • pepper, salt, herbs to taste. lentejas-chorizo

Preparation proceeds as follows:

  1. The first step is preparing the meat. Wash, dry, season with garlic, add salt, and rub with spices. Pour in soy sauce and leave for thirty minutes to marinate.
  2. After the time is up, the meat is placed in a baking sleeve. The remaining garlic and onion are placed there, pour in half a glass of water. Then bake until done in a preheated oven, within one and a half hours.
  3. While the meat is baking, you can start cooking the lentils. Boil it in a small amount of water until tender.
  4. Cut the tomatoes in half and fry a little in a frying pan.
  5. When the meat is ready, remove from the oven and cut as you like.
  6. Garlic, onion and chop with a fork or blender. Add baked meat juice, mustard and sour cream to them. You will get sauce.
  7. Place lentils on a plate and top with meat and tomatoes. Pour the sauce over everything.
  8. Garnish with herbs and serve. Bon appetit.

Solyanka with lentils

To prepare the dish you will need:

  • mushrooms 300 g;
  • cabbage 500 g;
  • lentils 200 g;
  • hunting sausages 200 g;
  • 2 medium onions;
  • large red bell pepper 1 piece;
  • 1 medium sized carrot;
  • a bunch of greenery;
  • salt;

Preparation:

  1. Chop the cabbage and fry in enough oil. Transfer it to a pre-prepared saucepan. It is best to use ceramic.
  2. Do the same with cabbage with the rest of the vegetables. Sauté and place in a saucepan.
  3. Add lentils to the vegetables and pour about two glasses of water into the pan. The water should not be higher than the vegetables, but should slightly cover them. Simmer over medium heat for twenty to thirty minutes.
  4. While the vegetables and lentils are stewing, cut the sausages into large pieces.
  5. The greens should also be chopped (large or small - your choice).
  6. After the time has passed, add sausages and herbs to the hodgepodge; if the water has evaporated too much, do not be afraid to add more. Now the hodgepodge is stewed over low heat for another twenty minutes.

After the time is up, the dish is ready. Bon appetit.

Lentil dishes in a slow cooker

To prepare the dish you will need:

  • colmar 500 g;
  • 1 cup lentils;
  • 1 medium onion;
  • 1 medium carrot;
  • 2 cloves of garlic;
  • half a bell pepper (if it’s large, if it’s small, it means whole, any color);
  • 1 large tomato;
  • salt;
  • vegetable oil.

Preparation proceeds as follows:

  1. Boil the squid. Peel, rinse, cut into rings.
  2. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater, the tomato on a fine grater, cut the onion into half rings, and cut the pepper into strips.
  3. Turn on the “frying” mode. Pour a little oil into a bowl and fry the vegetables.
  4. Then add the squid to the vegetables and fry for a few more minutes.
  5. Lentils are added to vegetables and squid, all this is poured with one and a half glasses of water. Garlic and salt are added.
  6. On the multicooker, select the “rice” mode and cook for thirty minutes.

After the time has passed, the dish is ready. Can be served.

Chowder

To prepare this soup you will need the following ingredients:

  • yellow lentils 400 g;
  • potatoes 300 g;
  • carrots 1 pc;
  • vegetable broth 1.5 l;
  • bacon 5 slices;
  • 200 g doctor's sausage;
  • leek;
  • spices;
  • bay leaf to taste;
  • vegetable oil;
  • salt.

The stew is prepared as follows:

  1. Onions, carrots and potatoes are cut into small cubes.
  2. Turn on the frying mode for fifteen minutes and sauté the vegetables.
  3. Cut the sausage into cubes.
  4. Add lentils to vegetables and add broth.
  5. Select the multicooker mode “soup”, time sixty minutes.
  6. Ten minutes before the end of the program, add spices and bay leaves to the soup.
  7. The bay leaf is removed from the finished soup. And time is given to brew, about twenty to thirty minutes.

The soup is served garnished with fried bacon and onions. Bon appetit.
