Croutons have been known since ancient times. They can be made from different types of bread, they can be sweet, salty, savory. They can act as a standalone food, snack, or an ingredient for soups or salads... Croutons can be served with a wide variety of ingredients - fish, mushrooms, jam, fresh fruits and berries, cheese.

Sweet croutons recipe 
Milk croutons
What is necessary:
- egg;
- 150 ml of milk;
- a large spoonful of granulated sugar;
- some vegetable oil;
- white bread.
How to cook:
- Combine egg and granulated sugar in a deep bowl.
- While stirring, gradually pour in the milk.
- Cut the bread into small slices.
- Pour oil into a frying pan, heat well.
- Dip each piece into the milk mixture on both sides, soak well and put in the pan.
- Cook on all sides until golden brown.
- Serve hot with jam, condensed milk, sour cream or chocolate spread.
Kefir croutons
What you need:
- 250 ml of kefir;
- loaf;
- egg;
- 1.5 tablespoons of granulated sugar;
- a pinch of salt;
- a bag of vanilla sugar.
How to do:
- Mix all ingredients into a homogeneous mass.
- Cut the bread into slices.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan and, dipping the pieces in the kefir mass, fry the croutons on all sides until tender.
Savory croutons recipe 
Salty snack for beer
What you need:
- half a loaf of black bread;
- salt to taste;
- vegetable oil for frying;
- 70-90 ml of milk;
- fresh dill.
How to cook:
- Cut the bread into not too thick slices.
- Moisten each piece a little in milk and sprinkle with salt.
- Heat the oil and fry each slice in it until crisp.
- Sprinkle the finished dish with chopped herbs.
Garlic appetizer
What you need:
- half of black bread;
- salt to taste;
- fresh herbs;
- garlic to taste.
How to cook:
- Cut the loaf into slices and fry in a little sunflower oil in a hot frying pan.
- Peel the garlic, crush in a garlic press. Mix with salt and half a spoonful of vegetable oil.
- Grate each slice with the garlic mixture and sprinkle with fresh chopped herbs.
Filled croutons 
Sweet croutons for breakfast
What is necessary:
- half a glass of milk;
- egg;
- a spoonful of powdered sugar;
- loaf or white bread;
- a couple of apples;
- half a spoonful of ground cinnamon;
- a couple of tablespoons of butter;
- a quarter of a glass of brown sugar.
How to cook:
- Melt the butter in a saucepan.
- Peel and dice the apples. Add to a saucepan with cinnamon and sugar.
- Simmer for 3-4 minutes, put in a cup.
- Cut the loaf into pieces at least 2.5 cm thick. Make a pocket-like cut in each slice.
- Put the apple filling into the cuts.
- In a deep bowl, combine milk, a little vanilla sugar and a chicken egg.
- Dip the pieces on both sides in milk and fry for at least a couple of minutes on all sides.
- Sprinkle the finished dish with icing sugar and serve hot.

- Grate the cheese on a fine grater. Combine with roasted ham. Send chopped greens there, you can add a little garlic.
- Mix egg, milk and salt in a cup.
- Cut the loaf into thick slices, make a cut in each. Put the sausage and cheese filling in the pocket.
- Dip each crouton into the egg mixture and fry on both sides in butter.

What is necessary:
- white or black bread;
- 200 g champignons;
- 170 g of hard cheese;
- small onion;
- 100 ml cream;
- pepper, salt;
- 3-4 small tomatoes and fresh herbs.
How to cook:
- Rinse the mushrooms and chop finely. Fry in sunflower oil with salt and black pepper.
- Add chopped onion and cook for a couple of minutes.
- Grate the cheese, add about 2/3 of the part to the mushrooms and add cream. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Cut the loaf into pieces, and divide each piece in half.
- Lay paper on a baking sheet, put slices on it. Put mushroom mixture on each and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Put in the oven for 5-7 minutes at 200 degrees.
- Decorate with tomato slices and fresh herbs.
