How to clean a dishwasher
Any household appliance, including a dishwasher, needs regular maintenance. Even if you handle this equipment very carefully and do not place dishes with leftover food in it, dirt will still accumulate in it over time. This may cause the dishwasher to work poorly. We’ll tell you how to clean such an assistant in this article.
How to wash a dishwasher
It is important to remove dirt from the dishwasher after any use. It is completely concentrated at the bottom and can lead to breakdown cars. After removing all residue, be sure to wash the bottom of the chamber and the door.
Conduct a more thorough monthly cleaning:
- Remove the compartments and shelves from the dishwasher compartment. Wash them with a mild detergent. If necessary, soak the containers for a while to remove dirt.
- Wipe the inside of the dishwasher thoroughly. Wipe the door, sides and walls especially thoroughly.
- Clean the drain hole and water supply hoses with a brush. Make sure the drain is not clogged.
- Separate the filter and clean it under running water.
- Rinse the sprinkler thoroughly. If you see clogged holes, clean them with a toothpick.
- Now put all the parts of the dishwasher in their places. Place a glass filled with vinegar on the bottom shelf, and place a container containing about one hundred grams of baking soda on the top shelf. Set the washer to intensive mode. As a result, the machine will clean itself.
- After the cycle is complete, leave the door slightly open to allow the chamber to dry completely.
Dishwasher Soap
Without special soap, the dishwasher is practically powerless. Please note that you cannot put regular laundry detergent or soap into the dishwasher. It is better to clarify when purchasing household appliances which detergent is suitable for this model.
The most popular remedy is powder. A kilogram of powder is usually enough for about 40 washing cycles. Usually a measuring spoon is included for precise dosing of the powder.
It is more convenient to use special tablets. They provide an accurate dosage of detergent and do not spill accidentally. Tablets come in different forms and have different degrees of solubility. Sometimes, with a short cycle, the tablet does not have time to dissolve completely. Therefore, when using dishwasher tablets, choose full cycle programs. If the water is too hard, increase the dosage of detergents.
Dishwasher Care
Even if the rules are followed, over time scale, mold or rust appears in the dishwasher. To prevent this it is necessary special care.
As a preventive measure against scale on the parts of the dishwasher, it must be periodically run through a wash cycle with baking soda, vinegar or citric acid. In this case, there is no need to place dishes in it. After completing the cycle, clean the unit from any dirt that has appeared and run another cycle without detergents.
To prevent mold from appearing, leave the door ajar after each use and thoroughly wipe the inside of the unit chamber. If mold appears, then run a washing cycle using a product with a bleaching effect.
If rust appears on the metal baskets of the dishwasher, they must be coated with a special paint with a sealant effect. If there are a lot of traces of rust, then the best option is to replace the baskets with new ones.
