Types of arrows for the eyes
This retro trick, originally from the Hollywood 50s, is extremely popular among modern girls. What they have not come up with over the years to facilitate and speed up the process of creating identical arrows. However, in this science, in fact, there is nothing complicated, although young divas sometimes try to bypass this type of eye makeup.
Fashion, like time, does not stand still and tends to change, which happened in the case of fashionable arrows before our eyes. Over the entire existence of this trend, many of its varieties have appeared, but we will understand everything in more detail.
- Thin and thick arrows are a daytime make-up classic. The eyelids, slightly touched by a thin eyeliner brush, seem to continue the length of the cilia at the corners of the eyes. This trick can be easily done by starting to draw an arrow from the inner corner of the eye to the outer one, in one continuous line: then at the end the arrow will rise slightly upward and the line itself will be much thinner than at the base.
- Arrows of Cleopatra. And in general, oriental women. Hiding their face, slender body and fashionable clothes from prying eyes, they know how to drive crazy with their eyes alone. We have a lot to learn from these mysterious beauties!
- Double arrows. More appropriate in evening make-up, but there are exceptions. Perhaps this is also one of the varieties of oriental arrows, adapted for European women. Here, the eyeliner line, barely visible at the inner corner of the eye, widens towards the middle and narrows again, rising upward, creating a beautiful curve. Then we proceed to the second arrow, framing the lower eyelid, and now we need to move in the opposite direction: from the outer corner of the eye to the inner one, making the edges of the line as thin as possible and thickening its base.
- Smoky arrows. Such arrows make the look mysterious and bewitching - thanks to the shading, they are not striking, but at the same time they do their job. By the way, for such a make-up it is better to use a pencil, not an eyeliner: it is easier to shade it with a simple brush or sponge. And you do not need to fancy the look of arrows - even the classic version will do, and in combination with the shadows, the makeup will easily turn into in the evening... Perfect for a Friday night when you don't have time to hop home between the office and the party.
- Colored arrows are a real trend! Matte, glossy, with sparkles, mother-of-pearl and laconic classic "hands" in white.
- Creative arrows are definitely not for day makeup, and not at every party, they will be appropriate. Although, if you have an outstanding appearance and know how to handle eyeliner and other cosmetics well, then why not, you will definitely not be left without attention.
How to choose arrows
The answer to this question is unequivocal - success in this difficult business can only be achieved by trial and error, but we will try to help you at least slightly reduce their number.
First, determine the shape of your eyes, taking into account their size and distance from each other.
The almond-shaped eye shape is considered "ideal" (not to be confused with Asian eyes!): This eye shape does not require correction, so absolutely any arrows will suit it, including those with Smokey Eyes makeup. Just like in the case with face contouring, "Arrows" in eye makeup carry the functionality of giving the eyes a shape that is as close as possible to the "standard" - in our case, almond-shaped eyes.
For girls with small eyes, it is better to avoid black eyeliner, especially along the contour of the entire eye - by doing so, you will further reduce them visually. But for you eyeliner pearlescent and light shades - gold, silver or white. By the way, double arrows drawn parallel to each other will also be a good option for your eye shape.
Round eyes will be almond-shaped with broad arrows, tapering towards the outer corners, but not thickening in the center. There is a little secret here: bring the tip of the arrow 2-3 mm beyond the edge of your eye and bring it with the same eyeliner from below, clearly along the line of eyelash growth, you can start from the middle of the lower eyelid. Connect these two lines by slightly lifting the tail of the arrow.
Girls with Asian or simply not wide enough, narrow eyes should not draw the arrow beyond the eyelid, this will only narrow them even more, as well as the arrow along the lower eyelid, along the growth line of the lower eyelashes.
How to draw arrows correctly
Why do some girls avoid drawing "arrows" in front of their eyes? That's right, just because sometimes it is very difficult to draw them in the same way on both the left and right eyelids, and if this can be achieved, it will take a lot of time, which sometimes simply does not happen, especially in the morning. But we will tell you a few secrets of how to make perfect arrows in just a few moves.
- So that the hand does not tremble, and the line turns out to be even and clear, create a solid support for it by placing your elbow on the table and using a mirror located at eye level.
- Leave the eye that you are "working on" at the moment ajar, so that in case of a wrong movement, you could immediately correct it.
- Do not try to draw an arrow with a single, continuous line - it will not work.
- The beginning of the arrow, at the inner corner of the eye, draw not along the eyelid, but between the eyelashes, otherwise cilia will seem rare, despite the abundance of layers of mascara.
- If your makeup, in addition to arrows, also implies shadows, then they are applied first, and not vice versa.
- Hold the pencil or eyeliner brush parallel to your face and pull your free fingers into the outer corner of your eyebrow.
We draw arrows in front of our eyes in stages
So, let's move from theory to practice.
- Sit comfortably with your hand resting on the table and the mirror at eye level, directly in front of your face, not to the side.
- Prepare your skin for makeup as you normally would.
- Tweak the brows, apply foundation, eyeshadow base and shadow as needed.
- Determine the middle of the upper eyelid along the lash line: from here we will begin to draw a straight arrow.
- Move your hand, drawing a thin line from the middle of the eyelid to the outer corner of the eye, giving the arrow a classic shape.
- Draw a thin line from the inner corner of the eye to the middle, as close to the lashes as possible, almost touching them.
- Paint over the arrow, giving it the desired thickness and shape.
- Do the same on the second eyelid and apply mascara on the eyelashes.
How to draw arrows for beginners
If you first decided to become the fatal owner of playful arrows, then we recommend that you still stay on the classic version. Alternatively, you can use a stencil that has long been sold even in regular retail stores, or even make such a stencil yourself from paper or paper tape.
How to draw arrows with eyeliner
Having got used to drawing even arrows, you will soon be able to do this in a matter of minutes, even with a liquid eyeliner, even with a pencil or a special felt-tip pen - liner.
But there are still a few tricks that can make your trial and error easier.
- If you bought the eyeliner a long time ago, and your hands did not reach the arrows for so long that it had time to thicken, then you can reanimate it a couple of times by putting it in a tightly closed plastic bag and placing it in hot water (not boiling water!).
- A completely dried eyeliner can be slightly diluted with alcohol or regular vodka. But nevertheless, it should be remembered that this is your face, and even more so your eyes, therefore, we still use cosmetics that have a long-term expiration date. do not recommend.
How to draw arrows with a pencil
As a rule, it is more difficult to draw arrows with a pencil than with liquid eyeliner or a special marker. The pencil becomes blunt very quickly and, due to the thick shaft, the arrows are thick and sloppy. Another common problem with cosmetic pencils is too hard, hard lead, which not only draws poorly lines, but also scratches the delicate skin of the eyelids. However, if you do come across such a pencil, try holding it over a fire (for example, a lighter) for a few seconds before using it. Although, of course, this option is only possible at home - you cannot put such a pencil in a cosmetic bag with you - you will not warm it up every time.
