How to make your hair soft
Achieving soft hair, even if it is initially very hard and dry, is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The only thing worth stocking up on is patience. After all, in order to restore the curls, you will have to work very well and wait. And having achieved results, you need to try with all your might to prevent this from happening again.
Why is hair coarse
In the overwhelming majority of cases, thanks to genetics for coarse hair, because it is she who determines the structure of the hair from birth. Therefore, if the problem of hair stiffness worries you as much as you can remember, then there are two ways to solve the problem - to come to terms with your nature, or to constantly make masks that will soften the curls a little. Alas, there is no way to artificially remake the hair structure. The main thing is to make efforts in order not to make them even tougher as it happens, for example, after discoloration... But not everything is as sad as it might seem at first glance. Hair that is stiff from birth has a thick structure, due to which the hairs remain healthy longer and in order to spoil them you need to try, they are better protected from the negative effects of external factors and much less often fall out after stress, well, at least not in such quantities.
Genetics, of course, is a common cause, but not the only one. Hair can become coarse when under prolonged stress, with neuroses and depression. All this disrupts the processes of sebum production, i.e. natural hydration process, deprives the hair of vitamins, which leads to stiffness, dryness and other problems. Frequent hair dyeing with low-quality dyes, especially with ammonia, regular perm., the use of a curling iron with an iron, chemicals for styling also leads to similar problems. Hair can also become stiffer under the influence of sunlight, so it is strongly recommended to wear hats to keep your hair healthy in summer.
How to soften your hair
You can soften your hair with regular hair masks, we will talk about them a little later, as well as proper care for them. Regular use of leave-in conditioners that suit your type of strip is a great help. Yes to find a good option will have to try, but it's worth it. And by the way, using a leave-in conditioner does not negate the use of a wash-off conditioner - this is a mandatory procedure after shampooing!
In order not to dry your hair completely, making it even harder, try not to wash your hair often. Twice every seven days - not more often. Water, especially hard water, greatly affects the quality of the hair and not for the better. It is best to wash your hair with boiled or melted water. The water temperature should be warm, but never hot.
Hot air has a destructive effect on the hair structure, so try not to use a hairdryer to dry your hair. Let them dry naturally. And if the use of a hair dryer is extremely necessary, then turn on the cold airflow and keep the device at a distance of 25-30 cm from the head. Try to dry your hair at the roots, or even better, if you deliberately do not dry the curls, leaving them a little damp each time.
Read carefully the composition of your hair styling products and put back those containing alcohol on the shelf. It dries out the scalp and the hair itself very much, making it hard, and the scalp can give dandruff. In general, with coarse hair, it is better to give up styling products altogether. The fact is that the peculiarity of the structure of coarse hair is such that each hair very quickly absorbs all the chemistry, which is even more damaged. In the most extreme case, you can use professional styling products that do not have such severe harm, and while on the hair, they can also heal them. Such drugs need to be selected individually, so it is better to consult with a knowledgeable specialist.
Choose quality shampoos for hair. When purchasing a detergent for dry and coarse hair, you should give preference to organic shampoos, where there is a minimum of chemistry and a maximum of nutrients. Such shampoos will moisturize the hair due to the presence of oils and other auxiliary components in their composition.
This is a summary of very simple tips to help reduce stiffness, but not enough to keep your hair soft and manageable. This also requires care with masks.
Hair softening masks
First, a few tips on how to make masks correctly in order to get the most out of them.
Unlike store-bought masks, which are applied to damp hair, almost all homemade masks are applied to dry hair. But in this case, there are no strict rules, so you can do as you like. The composition of a homemade mask must be prepared at a time, since you need to use it exclusively fresh. It is best to apply a homemade mask to clean hair. After the mask is completely distributed through the hair, wrap your head with plastic and wrap it with a towel, so the effectiveness of the procedure will multiply.
Remember, if the mask contains oil, then you need to wash it off with shampoo. Oil-free masks can be washed off with water. And yet, a little advice. Rinse off masks in which an egg is present only with cool water, since hot water will lead to the fact that it curls in the hair, or rather, it will cook. Getting rid of the eggs will be very difficult. The regularity of procedures with homemade masks is 2-3 times a week. The duration of each session is on average 40-60 minutes. After a course, lasting 1.5-2 months, you need to take a break and give your hair a rest, and then continue the sessions.
- The simplest hair softening mask involves the use of oils. Choose between olive, argan or jojoba oil. Determine the amount based on the thickness of the hair and its length. Be sure to warm it up in a water bath and only then apply to your hair along the entire length. It is best to keep such a composition on your hair all night, and rinse off only in the morning.
- In equal proportions, the amount is also determined individually, mix honey and olive oil, then heat the mass in a water bath. Apply the finished mask to your hair.
- Another good hair softening mask is with blue clay. It is with blue, and no other color. Dilute it to the state of a gruel with boiled water, or even better with a decoction of herbs, and then apply it on your hair for about five minutes.
- Heat a couple of large tablespoons of burdock oil in a water bath, then add the same volume of honey and wait for it to soften. Remove from the stove and add the yolk to the mass. Knead everything well and apply to hair.
- Pour 20 g of the most common gelatin with 4 large spoons of water and let stand for about 40 minutes. Then add a couple of spoons of honey, a small spoonful of apple vinegar and one yolk to it. Knead everything very carefully and distribute to the strands.
