How to make your hair soft
Achieving soft hair, even if it is initially very hard and dry, is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The only thing you need to stock up on is patience. After all, to restore your curls you will have to work very hard and wait. And having achieved results, you need to try with all your might not to allow this to happen again.
Why is hair hard?
In the vast majority of cases, we have to thank genetics for coarse hair, because it determines the structure of the hair from birth. Therefore, if the problem of hard hair has been bothering you for as long as you can remember, then there are two ways to solve the problem - come to terms with your nature, or constantly make masks that will soften your curls a little. Alas, there is no way to alter the hair structure artificially. The main thing is to make efforts not to make them even tougher, as happens, for example, after discoloration. But not everything is as sad as it might seem at first glance. Hair that is hard from birth has a thick structure, due to which the hairs remain healthy longer and in order to spoil them you need to try, they are better protected from the negative effects of external factors and are much less likely to fall out after stress, well, at least not in such quantities.
Genetics, of course, is a common cause, but not the only one. Hair can become coarse when under prolonged stress, with neuroses and depression. All this disrupts the processes of sebum production, i.e. process of natural moisturizing, deprives hair of vitamins, which leads to stiffness, dryness and other problems. Frequent hair dyeing with low-quality dyes, especially with ammonia, regular perm, the use of curling irons and chemical styling products also leads to similar problems. Exposure to sunlight can also cause hair to become coarser, so to keep your hair healthy in the summer, wearing hats is highly recommended.
How to soften your hair
You can soften your hair with regular hair masks, which we will talk about a little later, as well as with proper care. A good help will be the regular use of leave-in conditioners that are suitable for your type of stripes. Yes to find a good option You'll have to try, but it's worth it. And, by the way, using a leave-in conditioner does not replace the use of a rinse-off conditioner - this is a mandatory procedure after using shampoo!
To avoid drying out your hair completely, thereby making it even tougher, try not to wash your hair frequently. Twice every seven days - no more often. Water, especially hard water, greatly affects the quality of hair and not for the better. It is best to wash your hair with boiled or melt water. The water temperature should be warm, but in no case hot.
Hot air has a destructive effect on the hair structure, so try not to use a hair dryer to dry your hair. Let them dry naturally. And if using a hairdryer is absolutely necessary, then turn on cold air and hold the device at a distance of 25-30 cm from your head. Try to dry your hair at the roots, or even better, if you deliberately do not dry your curls, leaving them a little damp each time.
Carefully read the ingredients in hair styling products and put back on the shelf those that contain alcohol. It dries out the scalp and the hair itself very much, making the latter hard and can give the scalp dandruff. In general, if you have coarse hair, it is better to avoid styling products altogether. The fact is that the peculiarity of the structure of coarse hair is such that each hair very quickly absorbs all the chemicals, which causes even more damage. As a last resort, you can use professional styling products, which do not cause such severe harm, and when they are on the hair, they can also treat it. Such drugs need to be selected individually, so it is better to consult with a knowledgeable specialist.
Choose quality shampoos for hair. When purchasing detergent for dry and coarse hair, you should give preference to organic shampoos, which have a minimum of chemicals and a maximum of nutrients. Such shampoos will moisturize your hair due to the presence of oils and other auxiliary components in their composition.
This summary of very simple tips will help reduce hair coarseness, but the above is not enough to make hair soft and manageable. This also requires care with masks.
Masks for soft hair
First, a few tips on how to make masks correctly to get the most benefit from them.
Unlike store-bought masks, which are applied to damp hair, almost all homemade masks are applied to dry hair. But in this case there are no strict rules, so you can do what is more convenient for you. The composition of a homemade mask needs to be prepared for one time, since you need to use only fresh ones. It is best to apply a homemade mask to clean hair. After the mask is completely distributed over the hair, wrap your head in plastic and wrap it in a towel, this will increase the effectiveness of the procedure many times over.
Remember, if the mask contains oil, you need to wash it off with shampoo. Masks without oils can be washed off with water. And one more piece of advice. Wash off masks containing egg only with cool water, as hot water will cause it to curl up in your hair, or rather cook it. Getting rid of the eggs will be very difficult. The regularity of procedures with homemade masks is 2-3 times a week. The duration of each session is on average 40-60 minutes. After a course lasting 1.5-2 months, you need to take a break and give your hair a rest, and then continue the sessions.
- The simplest mask to soften hair involves the use of oils. Choose from olive, argan or jojoba oil. Determine the amount based on the thickness of the hair and its length. Be sure to heat it in a water bath and only then apply it to your hair along the entire length. It is best to leave this composition on your hair all night and wash it off only the next morning.
- In equal proportions, the quantity is also determined individually, mix honey and olive oil, then heat the mass in a water bath. Apply the prepared mask to your hair.
- Another good mask for softening hair is with blue clay. Precisely with blue, and no other color. Dilute it to a porridge with boiled water, or even better, a decoction of herbs, then apply to your hair for about five minutes.
- Heat a couple of large spoons of burdock oil in a water bath, then add the same volume of honey and wait until it softens. Remove from the stove and add the yolk to the total mass. Knead everything well and apply to your hair.
- Pour 20 g of the most common gelatin into 4 large spoons of water and let it sit for about 40 minutes. Then add a couple of spoons of honey, a small spoon of apple vinegar and one yolk to it. Knead everything very thoroughly and distribute it over the strands.
