Where do ants in the house come from?
Most often, human habitation attracts black and red ants, sometimes yellow ants can also settle in the house. These insects are attracted to warm housing with high humidity. In apartments, the favorite places of residence of ants are behind the baseboards, containers with cereals, under the sink on kitchen or in bathroom.
There may be several reasons for the appearance of insects in the house:
- Rare general cleaning and lack of disinfestation of places where garbage accumulates.
- Ants can crawl away from neighbors if their apartment is not clean enough or they start poisoning insects.
- Pests enter the house on people's clothing or wool pets after the walk.
Breeding domestic ants is very difficult. These insects are incredibly tenacious, adapt well to different living conditions and find themselves excellent sources of food.
How to get rid of ants in your home
First you need to clean up the house and eliminate insects from access to food. They are attracted to everything sweet, crumbs of dried food on the floor and sticky marks.
One of the easiest ways to get rid of pesky insects is to use a chemical. It's both simple and effective. Among the effective remedies against ants, sprays are especially effective. They need to spray the places where insects appear. First, you need to take care that the poisonous substance does not get on the food. This method will be especially effective if it is known where the main insect colony is located. Then you can fix the problem in one fell swoop. Examples of effective sprays include Raptor aerosol, Combat spray, or Reid aerosol.
Another good way to eliminate an enemy is to purchase a quality trap. Inside this small device is a poison bait. Climbing inside the trap, worker ants collect poisons and transfer it to their uterus. From this, both the uterus itself and the worker ants die. Traps of the Reid, Raptor, Kombat or Globol brands work well. Place them on ant paths, near the ventilation, by the trash bin, by the refrigerator, in the corners of the baseboards.
Special insecticidal pencils and gels work quite effectively. It is necessary to coat with them the places where the ants follow, as well as the space next to the baseboards and walls. After that, insects will begin to appear less and less, and then completely disappear. Gels Raptor, FAS, Sturm have a good effect.
Folk remedies for ants
Common boric acid is very effective in fighting ants. A bag of this product must be mixed with the yolk from three hard-boiled eggs. You also need to add a little honey or sweet syrup there. Small balls are rolled from the resulting mass and laid out in places where insects are likely to appear. They eat the sweet poison and die.
Another way is to use yeast. They are diluted with a small amount of water with the addition of honey to make a thick mass. The bait is laid out on ant paths, from where insects drag it into the anthill. There the yeast begins to ferment and spoil all the food.
If there are few ants in the home, then simple traps with sweets will help. Pour a small amount of sweet water, honey or jam into the bottom of the bottle or jar. Insects will crawl into the trap, attracted by the sweet aroma, and will not be able to crawl back.
A proven remedy for ants in the house
Nice and safe for people and pets the way to drive out ants is to use aromatic herbs. Insects are scared away by the smells of wormwood, mint, citrus fruits, and cloves. They also dislike garlic and unrefined vegetable oil. Spray the places where uninvited guests gather with these scents and they will leave. Herbs and spices can simply be spread out where they are likely to appear. And smear the baseboards and the place next to the bin with vegetable oil or garlic. Only oil must be taken necessarily unrefined with a smell.
Pharmacy chamomile works well. It can be spread around the house, in places where ants crawl. Make a strong chamomile tea and scrub the floors with it. The insects do not tolerate the smell of chamomile and will go away in a few days.
