Many people lovingly grow houseplants in their home. They care for them lovingly. But what to do if, despite all efforts, the flower begins to wither. How to return a healthy appearance to a pet, what fertilizers should be used and at what time should they be applied?

When to feed home flowers

Many amateurs home plants are sure that they need to be fertilized exclusively in the winter. But this opinion is wrong. Being in a very limited space of the pot, the flower very quickly depletes the soil, taking away vitamins and trace elements necessary for growth from it. If fertilizers are not applied in time, plant diseases will inevitably begin. Therefore, it is necessary to feed home plants in a timely manner, depending on their condition, and not focusing on the season. Especially acute is the question of feeding in the spring.

Look for signs of soil depletion:

• Stopping growth.
• Thinning of the stem.
• Blanching of leaves.
• The plant does not bloom on time.
• The plant is constantly sick.

In the presence of such signals, the plant needs to be fed urgently. But fertilization is not always appropriate. For example, you should not apply fertilizer immediately after purchase. Plant must adapt to new conditions. In this case, feed the flower only one month after purchase. Do not fertilize the plant immediately after transplanting. Usually, good soil has enough nutrients. Do not fertilize the plant during an exacerbation of the disease, as well as during a period when it is at rest.

How to fertilize flowers

To feed domestic plants, you can use mineral fertilizers. Usually they are purchased in a store, where they are available in a fairly wide range. Most flower growers use complex fertilizers that already contain several useful trace elements. As a rule, such fertilizers contain phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen.

Pay attention to the ratio of these elements in the fertilizer. It depends on how it will affect your "pet". For example, with a predominance of nitrogen, foliage will develop. If you need the plant to bloom beautifully, then the nitrogen should be the least.

If you want overall uniform development plants, then choose fertilizers where trace elements are contained in the same amount. For good bud formation, fertilizer with a high proportion of phosphorus is needed.

Natural feeding

In addition to mineral fertilizers, natural substances can also be used for feeding. For example, regular sugar. To do this, dilute a large spoonful of sugar in half a liter of water and pour the plant over with this solution. You can simply sprinkle the soil in the pot with sugar and water the plant. This feeding method can be applied monthly.

To increase the acidity of the soil in the pot and saturate it with oxygen, you can use coffee grounds. Just pour it into a flower pot and stir it into the soil. This will make the soil light and loose. Instead of coffee grounds, you can use a sleeping teahouse tea leaves.

Any citrus peel can be used as fertilizer. They need to be crushed and filled by a third of a liter glass jar with them. Top up with boiling water and leave to infuse for a day. Then remove the crusts and add clean water to a jar. Just water your houseplants with this solution.
