  • The drink's high carbohydrate content and high glycemic index make it unsafe for overweight people.
  • A large amount of sugar becomes a contraindication for consuming jelly for diabetes. In this case, you can only eat oatmeal jelly.
  • Industrially produced semi-finished products contain dyes and other harmful substances that can cause allergic reactions.
  • People suffering from chronic constipation should also avoid jelly. A large amount of starch in this case can only aggravate the situation.

Contraindications for jelly

Based on the possible harm of the traditional Russian drink, we can formulate several contraindications for drinking jelly:

  • Obesity and being overweight.
  • Diabetes mellitus in the acute stage.
  • Chronic constipation.
  • Tendency to allergic reactions.

How to cook jelly

To make the drink tasty and without lumps, you need to dilute the starch correctly. To do this, the liquid used for the jelly must be cold. For thick jelly, take 70 grams of starch per liter of water, milk or berry syrup; for a medium-thick drink, 40 grams is enough, and for a very liquid jelly, 30 grams of starch is enough.

If the jelly is prepared based on berries, then you can use both fresh and frozen. They should be turned into puree, pre-rinsing. Add 600 ml of water to the pan with berry puree and add sugar to taste. Bring everything to a boil. Separately, dilute the starch in the proportion indicated above and pour it in a thin stream into the pan with the jelly being prepared. In this case, you need to stir the liquid all the time so that the jelly turns out homogeneous. Let the liquid boil again and then cool.

You don't need starch to make oatmeal jelly. The oatmeal is simply poured with water and left in a warm place for 12 hours. Then the liquid is filtered, salt and sugar are added to taste and boiled to the consistency of jelly. Butter is added to this jelly and served cold with milk. You can put the jelly in the refrigerator, and when it hardens, cut it into portions and serve as a dessert.
